- “Yeah, Jas isn’t my actual kid, heh. Goddaughter. And niece, but… y’know. ...yeah. My older brother’s kid. Chose me to be her godfather for some Yoba-forsaken reason, heh. But… We were always pretty close. Thick as thieves, mom used to say. We weren’t even a year apart in age, so we basically did everything together, people would always think we were twins. Basically were, really. Mom got pregnant with me just a couple months after he was born, kinda messed up I guess, but that’s just how my family is. I was premature, too, just a bit. Yeah, me. Maybe that’s why I hit like, five-foot-five and never grew a fuckin’ inch after that. I was a small baby, mom smoked the whole time and all that shit. I guess that’s messed up, huh…? I really never paid it much mind.
- ...Anyway, me and Wayne were real close. Yeah, rhyming names, I know. Cute. Mom was real into that stuff, the looking all cute and proper to other people, but… that’s not too important, really. We were in all the same classes in school, did all the same after school stuff. Played gridball together, though he was a lot lighter on his feet than me, played running back. Me? Fullback. Gotta be big and wide, perfect for me, huh? Anyway, he kept up with it a bit longer than me… I had to stop ‘cause of a knee injury. Tore something in there pretty bad, couldn’t do it like I used to after that. Dad was pretty disappointed. He was excited to have two of his kids be star gridball players, but… who cares what my old man thinks. Not like he stuck around that long after that.
- I’m getting off track, though. Wayne met Jas’s mom in high school. They were pretty cute, heh. Got married right after graduating, though they didn’t have a kid for a long time after. They were great, though. We stayed close after that, even if I was a lot less… stable, than them. Guess I’ve always been depressed, or something. But they let me hang around, I even lived with them for a few years, around when Jas was born. She was… she was amazing, I was the first person aside from her parents who got to hold her. I think I fell for that lil squirt just as much as her dad did, heh. I guess I was a bit less of a wreck then, too, ‘cause they just kept letting me stay with them after having a baby. Built in babysitter must have been nice, even if he was a smelly weirdo like me.
- ...The accident happened when she was four. I was watching her at the time, and… heh. Drunk driver took them out instantly. Ironic, I guess, considering my… y’know. But… I had to try and get my shit together real fast. Sent her out to stay with aunt Marnie until I could find some work, then got in when they built that fuckin’ Jojamart. And here we are, I guess. Got a sad little life, don’t I?
- …
- Huh?
- Baby pictures? Of me? Yoba damnit Marnie. Heh…”
