- As he sheathed his sword triumphantly, Nale noticed a smoke-filled glass orb fall from Batman’s body. Thinking it could be a valuable magical item, Nale picked it up. As he did so, he got a strange urge to smash it on the ground. Doing so, he received a vision. He saw himself sitting on a throne, with his girlfriend Sabine at his side. His father, Tarquin, kneeled on the floor before him, and his brother, Elan, lay dead with a sword sticking out of his chest.
- Waking from this delightful dream, Nale felt light-headed. He saw that he was not alone in the alley - the Cliffport police had found him.
- “That’s him!” said an orange-haired policeman. “That's the guy who killed Chief!”
- “Now, hold on, I’m sure we can work something out here…” Nale implored. He attempted a Charm Person spell, but either the police were able to resist it, or something about that orb had messed with his magic.
