  1. faq:
  2.
  3. - how are the runs?
  4. - bad
  5.
  6.
  7. - is this fsg?
  8. - if it's fsg the title will say so, promise
  9.
  10.
  11. - what's the meta? what patch is this?
  12. - tl;dr typical run is get iron and food, enter nether, play bastion (string, obsidian, and pearls from piglin trades), go to fortress and get 6 blaze rods (12 eyes of end to enter the end), then use 10 obsidian to build a nether portal to exit the nether at about the ring for stronghold generation. then, locate the stronghold and kill the ender dragon with beds.
  13. patch 1.16.1 is best for this route - patches past this have piglin brutes, nerfed trading, and absolutely nothing beneficial going for it.
  14.
  15.
  16. - what are you resetting for?
  17. - in overworld:
  18. > an ocean, particularly either a close shipwreck or a really open island spawn
  19. > village with nearby lava pool or ruined portal, or a blacksmith
  20.
  21. ...in nether:
  22. > bastion within 16 chunks, or a really fast fortress/blaze spawner off spawn
  23.
  24.
  25. - what pace are you looking for?
  26. > nether enter 3:00 - 3:30
  27. > exit first structure sub 7
  28. > blind travel sub 10
  29. > enter end sub 13
  30.
  31. current pb (16:05) splits are roughly
  32. > 3:19 enter
  33. > 6:00 exit fortress
  34. > 10:49 blind
  35. > 14:4x enter end
  36. my best blind ever was 8:56, died to 1600 distance blind.
  37.
  38.
  39. - why craft bowls/grab dandelions?
  40. - either mushroom stew or saturation suspicious stew. saturation buff can completely fill hunger bar and gives an absurd amount of health regeneration making it one of the best foods with really easy to get ingredients
  41.
  42.
  43. - whats the deal with the timers?
  44. - one timer is IGT the other is RTA. IGT updates every autosave (either when you pause or every 5 minutes), it's mostly there for verification and for myself to know pace at certain times.
  45.
  46.
  47. - how do you find buried treasure?
  48. - always at chunk coordinates 8 8
  49.
  50.
  51. - why change difficulty to hard?
  52. - makes fire spread faster for flintless portals, piglins are also more willing to take fall damage to chase you which helps with some bastion routes
  53.
  54.
  55. - why lower render distance?
  56. - setting render lower allows you to unload entities, most notably allowing you to loot monuments with a far smaller chance of getting mining fatigue debuff, lets you force mob spawns (mob cap tries to get filled with your limited distance, useful for forcing things like blazes or piglins), and even lets you unload ender pearls and teleport to them remotely when you increase render again. also it reduces lag lol
  57.
  58.
  59. - why dig blocks at blaze spawners?
  60. - blazes fail to spawn if they try to spawn somewhere obstructed, so give them more air to spawn in around spawner. it also gives some extra blocks during downtime which can be nice for fortress first runs. exploding beds also clears a lot of space really fast
  61.
  62.
  63. - why grab a lava bucket when entering nether?
  64. - helps you kill hoglins and piglins, no downside (timeloss) to doing so in most runs since you can overlap it with entering portal. water buckets are worthless (literally do nothing when used) in nether so again, no reason not to. only ends up being useful in a select few runs but in those select few runs it's extremely valuable to have. also makes food easier to get post-nether to finish out run
  65.
  66.
  67. - can gold pickaxes mine gold blocks?
  68. - nope
  69.
  70.
  71. - what are you doing when you load into nether? how do you know where bastions are?
  72. - tl;dr debug entity counter works through walls and spikes of entities means bastion in that direction. can look at when a bastion loads relative to how many total chunks you have loaded to know (rough) distance (ie: if you load into nether and entity counter immediately spikes, bastion is very close).
  73.
  74.
  75. - why sleep after blind traveling?
  76. - dealing with mobs when triangulating can easily lose more time than sleeping takes, avoids bullshit, can be overlapped with killing self to reset hunger
  77.
  78.
  79. - are diamonds worth mining?
  80. - kinda. diamond sword 2 shots blazes with crits which is really cozy but often not a timesave. mining more than that isn't really worthwhile, diamond pickaxes are a nice timesave in bastions but aren't worth going out of way for imo. diamond pick for monument runs is actually kind of good for being able to blind travel (disassemble original portal while waiting around) but it's mostly a meme
  81.
  82.
  83. - why pillar up during the dragon?
  84. - dragon perch chance is based on how far you are from center (fountain), so pillaring up can quickly maximize that distance. using ground is an option too but running too far makes it difficult to see dragon
  85.
  86.
  87. - is the crafting book faster?
  88. - depends. it has some cases where it's definitely objectively better than drag crafting though:
  89. > makes a lot of obnoxious recipes much faster and much easier (respawn anchors, shields, golden carrots are great examples)
  90. > makes it easier to make the maximum quantity of something if you have more than a stack of ingredients (easiest example is wool if you have 2 stacks of string, making 32 wool without the crafting book means you have to craft the string stacks separately or do a bunch of clunky stack splitting)
  91. > easier to make small quantities of items rather than making a full stack (say, crafting exactly 3 eyes of end from a stack of pearls + blaze powder)
  92. > saves time having to track down items in inventory (flint and steel is a good example)
  93. > prevents misinputs. even if something would've been slightly slower manual crafting, it's very easy to bleed time from small mistakes when dragging items around
  94.
  95. - what is fsg?
  96. - filtered seed glitchless, generator for godly seeds that are still blind. generator i most often use is village start, ruined portal with looting sword and iron, godly nether, and blind travel near stronghold at 150/-150 or -150/150. imo i don't find it particularly enjoyable (majority of resets are just bullshit like generation bugs that make seeds unrunnable) but i'll play it occasionally to remember why i don't play it. PB is 9:51 from 1 session of attempts on looting village generator lol.
