- So, Today, I was reprimanded for not participating in the pledge of allegiance - I haven't been doing it for ages, but today it seems someone decided to call me out for it. I was sent down to the office, there I showed them the law, and was released and told to think about it, so I did. Here are my thoughts:
- 1) The pledge is telling me to pledge allegiance to the whole country. I don't agree with half the country the majority of the time, or what I like to think is half of the country, but sometimes it is more or less. This half is known as the conservatives. So why would I do such a thing?
- 2) I don't know what the US is going to do 10 years from now. The federal administration changes every four years and the congress elects every 2. Heck, I don't even know what its going to do tomorrow. So why would I pledge allegiance?
- 3) There are only 11 or so states where gay marriage is legal. By pledging allegiance, and being the democrat I am, I will be agreeing with the majority. This majority says that gay marriage is illegal and immoral. No. Just No.
- A Few Other Things I disagree with:
- 1) NSA
- 2) TSA's invasive body scanning
- 3: Recent Governement Shutdown
- 4) It says "under god". I'm an atheist. Enough said.
- 5)If I really read the pledge of allegiance, I am pledging allegiance to a piece of cloth. What has this cloth done for me? Heck, it was probably made in china.
- If you wish to hate me for this, be my guest. I have no respect for you. When you pledge allegiance, you're agreeing with what the government does. Every single bit. So when I build a time machine, I'm sure you'll be volunteering to fight with the Vietnam war.
