- obscure law: a law that exists for a very uncommon "crime" or only in one city
- (most people don't know about obscure things)
- legalize: make something completely legal (there are no penalties for doing it)
- decriminalize: make something not a criminal offense that you can go to jail for, but it may still be a civil offense that you have to pay a ticket for
- blue laws: old-fashioned "morality" laws, such as no alcohol sales on Sunday, which might have made sense in a strict religious country but don't really make sense now
