1. You could also do the following:
 2.
 3.

Under System » Settings go to Security Settings and add <script> to Allowed HTML tags (if it's not there already).
 4.
Go to Themes » Your Theme » Modules and create a new module of type HTML.
 5.
Insert your Google Tag Manager Script there.
 6.
Go to Themes » Your Theme » Page layouts and edit your page layout.
 7.
Under Front end modules add your newly created module to the list of Included modules.
 8.
If you have multiple page layouts, you need to repeat steps 4 and 5.
9.
 10. Note: best practice would be to create a custom section for such scripts in your page layout, preferably outside of the wrapper (may be only possible by default in Contao 4).
