    ¤ chanmi didn't exactly had the easiest life growing up. she was born in france, to a family that already consisted of four sons, making her the fifth, and youngest child. of course, growing up she was rather close with her family, especially her father, who was glad to finally have a daughter, and took time off work to raise her until she was seven years old, while her mother worked full time as a lawyer. however, once she started school, her father went back to work, and chanmi mostly had to look after herself a lot, with both parents working full time, and her four older brother always busy with their school work, as chanmi was the youngest by three years. however, she was always closest with her second youngest brother, daniel, as he always made time for her, often letting her sit in his room with him while he did his homework. as a child in france, chanmi was quick to pick up the language always being spoken around her, while talking in korean at home, mostly with her dad and occasionally her brothers, as her mother didn't exactly have the best knowledge of the language her husband spoke. her parents often sent her to the local daycare after school, which was where chanmi first started becoming protective over others. she claims her motherly instincts clicked in early, because she always used to help out with the children who were younger than her, and stopping any fights from breaking out and making sure everyone played fair. she's not really sure when she first found an interest in music, but she thinks it was probably when a man brought in a cello to play at the daycare one day. young chanmi was extremely fascinated by the man's playing and had an interest to learn. the man returned several times after that, and he would often sit chanmi down and teach her how to play the dusty old piano in the main room.
    ¤ when she was eleven, she first got into kpop through her cousin who lived in korea, and kept sending her different albums of different idols. that sparked her interest to become an idol herself, and she began wondering if she should send in an audition tape. when she was twelve, she sent in a tape to sm entertainment through their global auditions, and was accepted, moving to korea the next year to begin her training. her parents weren't very keen to let her go to korea all on her own, despite change's protests that she would be fine. however, they eventually allowed her to go when daniel announced that he'd been accepted into a university at seoul, and would keep and eye on his younger sister. moving to seoul was scary at first, especially since chanmi didn't know very much about the language, only have basic knowledge of speaking it and not being able to read or write it. chanmi trained under sm for four years as a vocalist alongside working on her korean, becoming close with several members of RED VELVET and NCT. however, the conditions were extremely harsh, and she was eventually pulled out by her parents wishes after her brother had mentioned that she was loosing a lot of weight. six months later, however, chanmi returned to the idol scene, determined to follow her dream, and was scouted for ts entertainment. this time, she trained as a rapper, after discovering that she was actually pretty good at it. she continued to train there for a further three years before debuting with SERENDIPITY.

    ¤ honestly, chanmi is both the leader and mother of the group without a doubt. she treats her group members like her babies, and honestly resembles a mother hen in the way she acts most of the time. chanmi is a usually soft spoken person, and is always very patient (she'd have to be to look after these nine). she is known to baby them so much that it's comical, even babying the people in the group who are older than her. she is responsible, but honestly she wonders why they decided she would be a good leader, since she's not the oldest (hence the nickname "KID LEADER"). she can be a bit of a control freak sometimes, and does not like it when she is not in control of something. she tends to worry and fuss about her other members, constantly putting them before herself. she has often been told that she would've made a good teacher, had she not decided to become an idol. she is the always in charge of doing headcount and making sure that everyone is out the door and that no one has been left behind, also making sure they've all gone to the bathroom so they don't feel the sudden urge to go half way through an interview. chanmi always wakes up early and then gets everyone else out of bed (politely the first time, and if you still don't get up, she will start singing songs from THE WIZARD OF OZ loudly), and is usually the chauffeur, always driving her group mates around since she has her license. she is used to taking care of other people, since she always used to help out at daycare centres while in france, and grew up pretty much looking after herself while her parents and brothers were busy at work. working around young children, she's picked up a few tricks, which is why she almost never leaves the dorm without candy, because she's found that it can be a very good bribing method (especially to people who are supposed to be on diets). however, this girl can flip a switch faster than the speed of light, especially with beagle members that always cause trouble. she loves them a lot, but they stress her out to the fullest. chanmi is known to be terrifying when she's pissed off, and it is probably best to just leave her alone until she calms down on her own. despite her sweet and young face, she could honestly turn into a demonic satan when she's made, and start yelling really loudly. she is usually the one who has to scold the younger members when they do something wrong, even though she hates it, which is kind of why she doesn't really stay mad at them for long. she is also known to be very touchy-feely around her members, always giving them hugs and ruffling their hair and straightening their outfits. she is not sarcastic at all, and any of her attempts to be so are completely cringey and pathetic. she is the queen of memorisation, always memorising the lines she has to say for the group quickly, and is always there to help her group mates during talk shows or interviews, ready to take the microphone if they cannot come up with anything to say. surprisingly, she isn't too bad when it comes to variety, and doesn't really mind embarrassing herself on live tv (even though she usually regrets it later).
