  1. The promise of America is one that says if you work hard, you should be capable of having a future where you can have a family and retire happily. Obama stands for tax cuts in the middle class and to reverse portions of the tax cuts during Bush's term for 3% of the wealthiest families in the country using the Buffet Rule.

  3. It is a fact that began long ago, jobs were not growing to match our population. And a decline of jobs made the fact even worse. In 2008, the country was losing 800,000 jobs a month, and the loss rate was only increasing. Through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act in 2009, unemployment claims slowed within the first few weeks. Within a year, the private sector was producing more jobs than it was losing and has continued to do so. This act has provided nearly 3.7 million jobs. During the financial crisis, Obama approved a plan with the Treasury Department to bring private capital into the country's largest banks and a fund that brought the banks back on their feet buy purchasing their toxic assets, at basically no cost to the government. We have seen for the first time in near two decades a gain in market share by all three of the Big Three automakers and an increase of jobs with them as well.

  5. Wall Street should have to face their consequences for they have caused, and Obama has introduced regulation to greatly lower the chance Wall Street hurts the economy as significantly again. There has been a lot of criticism towards the increased number of regulations that he has placed on the financial sector. After poor practices by the financial sector caused the "Great Recession", he signed the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act in 2010 , to tighten down on capital requirements and limit a bank's ability to trade with their customer's money for their profit and created the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau to crack down on abusive companies.

  7. Obama plan to continue to reduce unnecessary spending in the nation's budget. There have been numerous cutbacks of older programs and inefficiencies during Obama's presidential term. He created the job of Chief Performance Officer, whose job was to make operations more efficient to save the federal government money. Obama chose to cut programs such as the "Star Wars" program from the Reagan-Era, saving $1.4 billion dollars. Obama has also worked to reduce the projected defense spending by $450 billion and proposed a new Department of Defense budget with a cut of that size and a reduction in ground forces over the next decade.
