  5. Help! Lost internet! (no data IP after tweak) Freaking out.
  6.
  7. I installed SimulateTouch 0.7-17 from Big Boss repo. My phone immediately crashed and I had to boot into safe mode to uninstall. I immediately noticed I had no data connection. Swiped SBSETTINGS and no data IP! I've rebooted about 3 times and tried "reset network settings" and still no data IP. Any ideas? Iphone 5, 6.1.2

  19. I can still make calls and send texts, but no data. Again, still shows LTE. Trying your suggestion as we speak, just in case....
  20.
  21. ---------- EDIT ----------
  22.
  23. No dice. I'm sorta freaking out right now. I've got my phone dialed in so perfect right now. Don't want to reload... This has never happened in all of the time I've had my iPhone 5. Any other ideas? Any tweaks I can install that correct data/internet issues? This might be a longshot, but I'm wondering if installing SIMulatetouch, somehow messed up my SIM card. lol
  24.
  25. ---------- EDIT ----------
  26.
  27. This is the scariest thing I've ever seen.

  41. I don't know anything about APNs, but I'm pretty sure those settings are for MMS. If SIMulateTouch works with cellular capabilities, then it's probably that. It could also be that your carrier disabled the data plan for some reason.

  45. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  46.
  47. No, simulatetouch has NOTHING to do with my cellular plan or the sim card. Simulationtouch simulates screen touches. It just has SIM in the title, so wondering if when I uninstalled it from Cydia, something got confused... Also, under ABOUT, my Carrier AT&T shows 14.2. I could have sworn it used to say 15.x... Could be wrong...
  48.
  49. Is there something I can attempt to tweak with ifile?

  55. You might have to run a Semi-Restore, as I'm not sure what could be wrong. Maybe try turning Airplane Mode on then off.

  61. Did you try a hard reset? Hold the sleep button for 3 seconds, then while holding sleep, press and hold the home button until the screen goes black, the release both buttons and turn the phone back on....not sure if that will help but worth a try

  71. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  72.
  73. A hard reset isn't the same as going into DFU Mode, which is what you're probably thinking of. DFU Mode is only necessary if you can't get into your device, or if a restore in normal mode doesn't work. A hard reset is similar to holding down the power button on your computer, to get it to shut down if it's frozen up, except iDevices will restart.

  79. Ok. Trying. No change. Should my APN settings be filled out? Mine are all blank. Or some way to reset carrier settings?
  80.
  81. Zacharee 02-17-2015 05:35 PM
  82.
  83. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  84.
  85. No. Most of the time they should be blank, as the SIM card takes care of it. If you go to Settings>General>Reset, there's a button to reset your network settings, which could help. You'll lose all stored WiFi passwords, though, and will have to re-connect to every access point you want to use.

  107. I'll probably try to ride out the week like this just in case it comes back...

If it's not reinstalling the full 6.1.2 ios, wouldn't this cellular data problem persist? Right now, sounds like my only hope....

  187. no.
  188. Semirestore will remove all JB related stuff and JB related screw up's so you can start from fresh from start.
  189. Semirestore can't restore your device and also can't repair system screw up's.

  193. I'm reading through the comments at the semi restore link posted here. Doesn't sound like this would help since this seems like a "system screw up"

  212. The one I hadn't tried is the one your link said to try... I seem to have a data ip now!!!! However, when I try to load a page (just google), it just loads and loads... Never comes up. Granted, I used the setup from unlockit.co.nz and did try to do it manually. Manual is the next thing I'll try... Unlockit.co.nz installs a "APN Carrier Settings" configuration profile. Am I supposed to have an "official" carrier settings profile for ATT? Wonder if that's the issue.
  213.
  214. ---------- EDIT ----------
  215.
  216. Ok, so attempting to enter (manually) my APT settings, but the only options I available to modify are APN, Username, & Password. Per the instructions, I just entered "phone" under APN. That's about all I can do.
  217.
  218. Yea, that did nothing.
  219.
  220. ---------- EDIT ----------
  221.
  222. Could it be another app I have holding my data back? There must be something via ifile or cydia I can run/mod to trouble shoot this.

  243. Yes. The APN settings generator from unlockit.co.nz will not allow more than one, so you must remove before you can add. Even before I started messing with that, those 3 fields were all that were present.
  244.
  245. ---------- EDIT ----------
  246.
  247. I'm willing to try anything short of a full restore at this point. I read on another forum about someone that had this issue, did a full restore, and problem still wasn't fixed. If they ever DID find a solution, they didn't post it there... lame.
  248.
  249. ---------- EDIT ----------
  250.
  251. I notice my data ip keeps changing. I've never really monitored it so close before so it may always be this way. But it's changed at least 5 times since I've been watching since early this morning. Maybe it keeps changing trying to establish a connection?
  252.
  253. The fact that it's still can't connect in safe mode seems extra weird.

  288. Semi-Restore actually does fix a lot of system-related problems. The earlier versions didn't, but the one available now can restore system files to their original settings, which is what you need. It can't hurt to try Semi-Restore, since you can just use it, or BackupAZ, to reinstall your tweaks and settings after.

  300. Manually editing these files can lead to huge problems, especially with Apple's CommCenter. If you edit your carrier bundles through iFile, they will no longer work, and you won't have any service.

  306. Not sure if this adds any clues, but I can retrieve email with the APN setting from unlockit.co.nz (the same one that shows a data IP). But no apps can connect to internet otherwise...
  307.
  308. Could it help to replace my SIM card? From what I read at the apple site, it would force new carrier settings to be downloaded.

  315. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  316.
  317.
  318. Or suppose I knew someone else with an iPhone 5 - would swapping SIM cards give me any clues?
  319.
  320. Tried swapping with a friend, still can't connect. So, that seems to reaffirm that it's NOT the SIM card.
  321.
  322. ---------- EDIT ----------
  323.
  324. Heres another idea... Is there any way I can trick the carrier settings in ifile to think that the version is older than it is? So I can force a download of new settings? Maybe there is a carrier settings plist or something?

  349. Well, my i5 was jailbroken with Evasi0n. I am wondering though - don't these semi-restore apps just create the same environment that safe mode does? If so, seems like it wouldn't work. This seems like a system problem, which this says it can't help.

  398. My confusion is though, if it's NOT a system issue, shouldn't it operate fine in safe mode? Another thing that is weird with SimulateTouch is that in Cydia, when it was installed, it wasn't in my list to uninstall. I had to search the app again, click it, choose modify, and delete it that way.

  450. Not necessarily. There are still tweaks and libraries which don't depend on Substrate, that can run in Safe Mode.

  460. Like I said before, you can use BackupAZ to backup, then reinstall your tweaks after the Semi-Restore.

  466. The documentation for BackupAZ is hard to understand. Do you know where this app stores backups?

  472. I think it's /var/mobile/Documents/BackupAZ, but I'm not sure. It might be just under /var/mobile.

  497. Seemed to back up everything. Copied to my pc. Pretty cool if this works. Still waiting on a response on the forum over at semi-restore to see if they think this will help based on the symptoms.

  503. It backed up under Preferences? That sounds pretty weird. If Semi-Restore doesn't work, there is literally nothing you can do, except restore.
