  1. FRC Team 6860: Equitum Robotics, competes annually in the FIRST Robotics Competition. FIRST, For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology, is an international youth organization that encourages students to pursue their interest in STEM-related fields. FIRST provides the opportunity to exercise their skills and knowledge in applications very similar to what they might face in the real world. Many different, vital aspects are needed to make up the team, which include fundraising, marketing, research, designing, and building. The purpose of this competition is to provide an experience meant to inspire, encourage, and motivate students to learn the basic principles of engineering while challenging other opponents. Through this activity, students unveil their interest in the STEM field and are given a platform where they can develop their skills. Furthermore, students learn new skills from each other and their mentors.
  2. Team 6860 is comprised of more than 40 inventive, passionate and dedicated students. In our first year, we placed an astonishing 28 out of the 125 teams in our district, we received the Rookie All-Star award in the Mid-Atlantic Region Championship and competed in the World Championship! Our team is still incredibly proud and joyous of these achievements, and we could not have done it without the help we received from our sponsors.
  3. This year we once more call for your help to compete. Paterson Public Schools District is a low socioeconomic district with more than 40 schools that serve approximately 30,000 students. We are limited in the activities we can take part in as our district’s budget gets smaller each and every year. With that being said, our team receives little to no funds from the district, and school fundraisers cannot cover all of our team’s expenses. With your help, our team can hopefully cover the cost of materials, competition fees, transportation and much more.
  4. Sponsoring our team is a great way to advertise your company.
  5. Your donations will provide the exposure that will be seen locally and in our competition district, comprised of over 125 teams from New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Delaware. It will reach an even bigger audience if our team is successful and is able to compete in the World Championship. However this can not happen without your help and support. All sponsorship is tax-deductible and a receipt will be mailed promptly.
  6. If you would like to get a better understanding of the team, we would be more than glad to forward you a copy of our business plan. The business plan will give you an in-depth look at our team and how we work. In addition, we would be delighted to arrange a meeting where you can come to visit us or we can go to visit you.
  7. Your assistance will ensure that all members of the team become more dedicated to their studies and have a more focused future ahead. Your support does not have to come in the form of monetary value, but it can also come in the form of materials, guides, as we still have a lot more to learn, and by sharing this letter to others. Our team thanks you for your time and consideration. For more information please contact our lead mentor Ana Alea-Schlichting at aalea@ppsstaff.org or call her at 973-710-7107. You can also reach the team directly by emailing us at EquitumRobotics@gmail.com. Thankyou for your time and we hope to hear from you in the near future.
