- Online and offline are the same game. Or rather, they WOULD BE, if people didn't use the lag for competitive advantage. Some tactics work much less effectively or don't work AT ALL when you remove the lag, such as Blanka hop mixups. Anti-airs become easier. Combo timing is easier. You can have more mental focus because you don't have to compensate for lag so often.
- The second part of the equation is the difference between players who attend offline tournaments and players who sit at home and play. Players from the first group are much more likely to show you new tactics you haven't seen, are more likely to be skilled, etc. Players in the second group may or may not care about improvement and the minutia of the game, and are less likely to be social. When combined with the lag factor, if you play too many players of this second group too often, you are given a view of the game that is not consistent with what the offline scene experiences. You are shown that vortex is king and that footsies are not necessary. You are shown that having over 10,000 BP indicates some semblance of skill.
- These things are all mostly incorrect. Online is not the same game.
