Pikmin 3 in Any% FAQs

What console and game are you using?
Wii U and my Pikmin 3 game are Physical.

What controllers are you using beside the obvious Gamepad?
I use Wii U Pro Controller for most of the gameplay. I switch to Wiimote and Nunchuk for doing Long Whistle trick.

But isn't the Wiimote and Nunchuk the recommended controller to use to speedrun Pikmin 3?
Yes. But to me, I prefer using the Wii U Pro Controller.

Are you using a TV or monitor?
I'm using a monitor which can be a little rough for my sensor bar to stay in correct position.

What are you doing in Any%?
Finishing the game as fast as possible.

Do you need to collect fruits?
Yes but only a few.

Your juice counter will go to 0. Are you concerned about that?
No. While the juice counter go to 0 after Day 3, I can collect the fruit called Pocket Airhead in Tropical Wild in Day 4. The Pocket Airhead has two and a half of juice. Combine with Cupid Grenade from Distant Tundra makes it 3 juice total. So since the juice counter will go to 0 after Day 6 which I'll be in Formidable Oak in Day 7, I should finish the game without being affected by the juice counter.

What are the most annoying tricks in the game?
Louie Clip in Twilight River and Brittany Clip in Formidable Oak. While Dodge Whistle trick in Distant Tundra can be a problem because that can be a run killer, I don't really get annoyed if I failed. The annoying thing that I can get annoyed while doing the Dodge Whistle trick is the Whiptongue Bulborb which it's also a run killer as well.

Why Whiptongue Bulborb in Distant Tundra?
Since I get 20 yellows by the cave (25 yellows are for safety but it is much slower than 20) and Whiptongue Bulborb can grab 5 Pikmin at a time, I have to be very careful of not losing a single yellow. Getting to a spot next to Whiptongue Bulborb after using a geyser is a bad thing and there is a low chance I won't lose a single yellow.

Yeah? But there is a Yellow Candypop Bud in a cave that you can use for extra yellow.
Yes but that will be slow. It will be even slower if I get a slow Dodge Whistle trick.

For Louie clip, do you need to use the fruit as a way to push Louie to clip him out the invisible wall?
I would use the fruit if Day 1 to Day 4 is really good. If those days are bad, I won't use the fruit for Louie. I have to let it hope Louie will get clipped out without the fruit for 1st to 5th try.

Is Long Whistle trick that easy to do?
It's easy if I can get it for first to the third try. I usually test and practice first before start speedrunning Any% while I'm streaming. But still, my sensor bar needs to have the correct position in order for the trick to work.

What are some other annoying things in this game for you?

Do you think you can PB in Any%?
Yes, it's possible. It just that I have to execute really well in most areas.

What would be your goal time by Any%?
51:5X. I would be happy if I get 51:2X though
