  2. 2020 June 19th ~Noon
  3. -attempt at manually collimating 2ndary (secondary) mirror on Bushnell Voyager. Might be SLIGHTLY better. Need hex wrench/key to do it right.
  4. -test new 20mm Kellner w/ FirstScope (on trees). Kellner kicks the socks off of the H20mm. While testing the H20 I noticed how bizarrely bad the H20 is.
  5. [sketch showing how images are distorted in the H20 vs the Kellner]
  6. Still no clear weather.
  7. -----------------------
  8.
  9. 2020 June 20 10:05 PM EDT
  10. Good seeing, 40% cloud coverage, otherwise good transparency. (note: clouds got better within 20 minutes)
  11. Alberio, DT6, 25mm
  12. [sketch of Alberio]
  13. Alberio is quite crisp and bright.
  14. Gold & pale blue as ever.
  15.
  16. Vega, defocused, Bushnell Voyager
  17. [sketch showing the image of the mirror via an unfocused Vega]
  18. collimation is awful and very difficult to correct. :(

  23. [sketch of M13] M13 - 10mm DT6
  24. fuzzy with a sprinkling of dim stars, very beautiful. Faint x shape in smudge.
  25.
  26. [sketch of M57] M57 - 10mm DT6
  27. a faint pale circle. Averted vision is necessary to see the ring as any more than a dot.
  28.
  29. -Clear skies!
  30.
  31. [sketch of Jupiter] Jupiter, 6mm Kellner / DT6
  32. Jupiter is boiling and warping along the edges, but nevertheless two cloud bands and GRS appear quite clearly. Moons don't all fit in the fov. Very nice.
  33.
  34. "Holeeeee shit" -William, looking @ saturn.
  35. [sketch of Saturn] Saturn, 6mm /DT6
  36. Two moons, gorgeous rings. Still wobbling, boiling image, but at the right moment the cassini pops out of the edge of the ring. VERY subtle banding.

  40. June 20 2020 11:57
  41. Very clear skies.
  42. [sketch of M51] M51 - 25mm/DT6
  43. so faint it's almost impossible to see at all. No detail, just a round smudge.
  44.
  45. [sketch] Lagoon Nebula & Open Cluster?
  46. found by accident while looking for trifid nebula.
  47. Gorgeous. Holy shit. Beautiful. Bright nebular core with faint fuzzy surroundings, in a very nice open cluster.
  48.
  49. -found NGC 6531 cluster right above Lagoon. Clouds rolled in and spoilt it, and made searching for Trifid impossible.
  50. ROUGH sketch [sketch]
  51. Dense core, sparse edges.
  52.
  53. Last ~20 min, fog showed up and dew soaked everything. Clouds then formed and covered most of the sky. Still VERY nice viewing (referring to the whole night)
