Let the past be passed

Covet: Felix was sitting at his desk going over emails, hoping to hear back on the scholarship contest. He was also in the process of messaging Adam in regards to helping him with his case against the school in regards to financial compensation in order to keep himself from going into debt over his schooling.
Alexithymiaa: -Steph was in the process of signing for a large box at the front door, smiling at the FedEx delivery guy and pushing the box further into the house. She leaned against it and pushed it toward the office, intending to get a pair of scissors to cut it open. "I have no idea what's in this box, but it's from the label and it's heavy."-
Covet: Felix looked over at her, then saw the box, "What do you think it is? Copies of the album?" He asked her, then watched as she went to open it.
Alexithymiaa: "In a box this big?" she asked unsurely, grabbing a pair of scissors from the desk and opening them to slice the box open gently. She passed the scissors over to him and then pulled the box open, reaching inside to pull out the piece of paper that was positioned on top. "Dear Stephanie, Enclosed are the promotional items sent by Dolls Kill to our office, addressed to you. The brand has pulled together articles of clothing they wanted to offer you in exchange for positive mentions while wearing their brand. You are under no legal obligation to wear, promote, or endorse their brand, so have fun. Shane." She sent the letter down, peering into the box. "Free clothes? Cool."-
Covet: "What? Now you don't even have to go shopping?" Felix said. "Since you don't really like shopping all that much anyways. Is it anything that is your style?" He asked, curious about what was in the box now.

Covet: Felix looked at the shorts and grinned, "You're going to wear those off stage too right, because those are hot. You need one of those Red polka dot 50's style halter tops and some pumps. Then I can take pictures of you on the Impala."
Alexithymiaa: -Her eyes lit up instantly, nodding her head. "That sounds like my kind of photoshoot. And speaking of, that interview and shoot is scheduled for Thursday." Covet: "Good, because I really want to do that now." He said with a grin, then nodded, "I'll make sure my schedule is clear and will be there for you." He told her then looked at the top. "Definitely, especially with buckles like that."
Alexithymiaa: "Thank you." Setting aside the first two pieces, she dipped her hand inside the box again, pulling out a pink strappy top and bottom set. Covet: "Yeah, I can't really see you wearing that, but... If you're going to promote their stuff, maybe you could do a give away with it to your fans and followers?" Felix suggested.
Alexithymiaa: "We'll see. I think I'd prefer to wear it and see how I actually like it before I commit to giving it away like I'm endorsing them or something. That's kind of weird." She reached in to grab one of the last few articles of clothing, holding up a pair of black pants. Covet: "I can see that for the other stuff, and of course you have to see if you like it before endorsing them. But hey, if they're wanting to be a bit of a sponsor, or make you a brand embasador, that's only good things right?" He said then looked at the other pants, "Ooh, things I can pull on and play with. You'll be my own personal fidgit device."
Alexithymiaa: "Why am I not surprised you would say that?" She said with a smirk as she pulled the last piece of clothing out of the box to hold up, a black lace jumpsuit. Covet: "Because you know me so well." He told her with an obvious look and shrug. Looking the jumpsuit over he nodded, "Yeah It looks nice for summer. It's one of those Coachella esque things." He said with a grin.
Alexithymiaa: "Don't ever say that to me ever again." She said as she gave the jumpsuit a little toss to the side, clearly no longer quite as interested as she was before. She reached into the box and pulled out a pair of giant platform mary janes, holding them up. "Look, they sent shoes!"-
Covet: "What? What's wrong with coachella? There's a lot of really good music that is there. So long as you ignore the more pop stuff. The electronic shows are pretty cool." He said defensively. "Oh you need a cute a-frame skater dress do go with those."

Alexithymiaa: "If I wanted to ignore more than half the festival for the electronic stuff, I'd just go to Ultra. Which we should do one year." She added. "I have a few that would go well with these." Reaching in, she pulled out a pair of black cat eye sunglasses, instantly putting them on. "I know we're still like... super indie and underground, but this feels very rockstar right now."-
Covet: "Definitely." Felix said agreeing about going to Ultra. "Hey those could go with those shorts for the photoshoot." He said to her. "Hey enjoy it, because it will just keep happening more and more."
Alexithymiaa: "I don't think so, but sure let's go with that." She hopped up to sit on the edge of his desk, crossing one leg over the other and tipping her head back to be dramatic in the new sunglasses. "Get any work done?"-
Covet: "Why wouldn't it keep happening?" He said to her raising an eyebrow. "Sort of. I was just checking messages and about to send off an email to Adam in regards to the whole lawsuit things." Felix said waiving his hand about.
Alexithymiaa: "Because we're just some local Portland band. No one is going to care about us forever and we don't have a lot of reach. I'm surprised this company even cared enough to send stuff." She leaned forward, pushing the sunglasses up on her head. "Oh good. Maybe you'll finally get some answers."-
Covet: "Now... with your label and your exposure already, you're gaining some decent ground. It might take you longer than it took your cousin but that has to do with genre. She's kind of a pop vocal sellout. Not to be rude, or anything, it's just her thing." Felix said.
Alexithymiaa: "I know... and that's really really not my thing. Our thing." She corrected after a pause. "I just also don't know if I want to do this forever. This was never what I imagined for myself. I haven't decided if I want to adjust my life plans or not to fit the performing life rather just purely songwriting. I do really enjoy it, it's just... not where I thought my life would go."-
Covet: "Well, enjoy it for what it is now, but I think music will always be a part of our lives when it comes to you. Whether it's just writing, or teaching, or performing. Look at some of those old rockstars. They aren't all performing large scale anymore but most of them are still involved in music."
Alexithymiaa: "I know that, but when I first got involved with the Kittens, I was just writing their music. And then Rachel left and I was sort of just filling in and then I never left." She gave a shrug. "I was never comfortable being on stage and I've found ways around it, but it almost feels a little unfair that I have to be someone else in order to be okay with doing what a lot of people would kill for. It feels like I don't deserve it and I should give the opportunity to someone who wants it more."-
Covet: Felix frowned. " Well have you talked to the girls about this? Because they all seem to enjoy you as their singer. You could always start being more yourself up on stage, I'm sure people would enjoy that as well. It's not all that unfair that you have an alter ego, I mean, there's lots of artists that do that. Lady Gaga is essentially an alter ego of Stefanie Germanotta."
Alexithymiaa: "Are you kidding? They'd kill me if I told them this. Gabby literally told me like two days ago that I basically created their sound." She let out a huff, giving a shrug. "I don't think I'll ever be comfortable on stage just being... me. I have to play a rehearsed part to feel confident and bold enough to do that sort of thing. And those people do it because it's a gimmick... I'm doing it because, why? I'm scared? That's such crap."-
Covet: "Then grow a pair and make it real." Felix told her in a challenging tone. "You say you don't have the confidence to do it, but I see you overcome stuff that is way harder."
Alexithymiaa: -She furrowed her brows, a little offended he would say that. "Hey, shut up. This is hard. Do you know what it's like to PRETEND to be spontaneous and fun, but not actually do it because everything has to be planned before you get on stage? None of that kind of thing happens on a whim or by accident. What we do is HARD."-
Covet: "I'm not saying it isn't. And you do all that, so why is being yourself so hard. You as a band and as a person can evolve. It's just a matter of overcoming that fear. That's like the natural challenge of life." He said to her.
Alexithymiaa: "Okay, but our image as a band isn't who I am. I don't walk around in ripped fishnets with war paint on my face when I'm going to class. How am I even supposed to be myself when myself doesn't align with what we do?"-
Covet: "Look at some of your rock predecessors. People like Pat Benetar, Joan Jett and Stevie Nicks." Felix said. "They had stripped down versions of their more hardcore personalities. And people still loved them then and still associated them with their genre of music. You're living in a day in age when people want to see that individuality and that you're a real person just as much as they enjoy your hardcore persona."
Alexithymiaa: "Considering she'd modeled a lot of what she does on stage after Joan Jett, that hit her right in the feels, taking a deep breath. "I guess. But would they consider us sell outs if we dialed it back now, after establishing ourselves in this sort of look and style?"-
Covet: "No, I don't think so. I mean, you'll still have your sound, and people can't expect you to stay the same forever. I have never seen a bad thing about a band's evolution. And it's not like you guys aren't going to dial it back all the time. It's just showing a different facet of who you are." Felix said.
Alexithymiaa: "Thats true. I think I'm just a little nervous that dialing back the look coupled with some of the new music I've written might be too much change at the same time. I have yet to write a song that's anywhere close to as heavy as anything off of Rise From the Ashes. So much of that album was written out of anger and hate and a lot of what I've written now has been about growth and putting my past self behind me. It just doesnt have that same driving guitars or angry passion."-
Covet: "I think that's a good thing though. It's all stuff that I think you should tell the fans about. Because I'm sure many of them can relate to that on some level or another. You'll still find those moments when you are angry and those harder songs come out. And you'll still play them from time to time. You're being too hard on yourself. The label has been more than happy with all of this new stuff as much as they were with your old stuff."
Alexithymiaa: "I know that, it just feels very... exposed." She said with a shrug, leaning down to pull her boot off so she could show him the tattoo on the side of her foot. "I've kept these lyrics in the back of my head every time I've written new music so far. Let the past be passed. It's like shedding those negative parts of your life for better ones."-
Covet: "I get that. It's a certain kind of vulnerability to show that side. But it's growth. It's accepting that those things are the past and that without them you wouldn't be where you are today." He told her as he went to go sit down with her on the couch, amongst all her new things.
Alexithymiaa: "Exactly." She leaned down, pulling her shoe back on. "I feel like I have a lot to think about. And then potetially a lot to discuss with the Kittens." She started folding the new clothes and putting them back into the box, glancing at him. "I might have some ideas."-
Covet: "I look forward to these ideas, and to hear about bow the kittens take this. I'm sure they'll agree. They've matured themselves a bit too." He said to her, then leaned over to give her a kiss. " I think the idea for right now should be going to bed though. At least, to go relax and lay down."
Alexithymiaa: "I'm just going to get this stuff packed back up so I can organize and put everything away tomorrow. I gave the dogs some rawhides, can you just make sure no one has chewed them down into choking hazards and I'll be in, in a minute?" She leaned in, returning his kiss.-
Covet: "Yes, yes." He said as he got up to go check onto the pups and get ready for the bed things.
