Coco vs Mik

I wasn’t assigned to judge this round. I just wanted to be a part of history.

The outcome here is unprecedented. Shocking. Genuinely unbelievable. I can’t for the life of me comprehend how it happened, but here we are: I agree that Coco wins round two against Mik, and advances. At the time of writing, this opinion is held unanimously among *all* judges, not just the ones assigned to the match. We are yet to hear a dissenting interpretation.

I don’t want it to seem like Mikhail was stomped effortlessly, because that’s not the case. Shooter is honestly real strong. Unfortunately, Gorgon is merely good, and Black Widow is honestly the Hermione of this round: dead weight. If Widow was replaced by a more capable character, even a middling one, there’s a very good chance that Mikhail could have won this argument. As it stands, Coco leveraged his team better than Mik did, and his choices were more uniformly competent for the tier.

Having Black Widow on your team in this tier is not quite as bad as going 2v3 after losing an OOT, but it’s pretty close. I can’t stress enough how she dragged Mik down this round.

Ultimately, I have two recommendations for anybody reading these judgements in an effort to get better at the GDT.

One: pick good characters (Shooter)

Two: don’t pick bad characters (Black Widow)
