- Description: Smulls set up an appointment with Stephen, who ran a jewelry shop in the basement of a bank, saying that he wanted to buy diamond ring for his fiancée. Upon arriving, Smulls shot both of them. Florence survived by playing dead, lying in a pool of her own blood. Smulls and Brown took rings and watches, including Florence’s wedding ring, with Brown yelling at her for not removing it quick enough. The pair fled before the police arrived, who caught Stephen as he fell into their arms as they arrived on scene. Stephen died at the hospital, but Florence survived to identify Smulls and Brown.
