- The great noodle conflict - 3
- [Udon shop]
- Anz: *slurp* Mm, tsukimi udon is delicious.
- Uta: Kuh, she was almost there...
- Tak: Soba's awesome, I had no idea about all that.
- Uta: That's the problem! People are too uninformed about soba...
- Sek: And soba's completely an away team in Shikoku. Well, so is ramen.
- Tak: But there's Matsuyama ramen in Ehime.
- Sek: Seriously!?
- Tam: Yeah, there is. It's kind of sweet.
- Sek: Sweet!?
- Anz: Maybe it's because soy sauce itself is slightly sweet?
- Sek: Oh, you mean that. You had me scared there. I thought they put ice cream in it or something.
- Tam: Of course there isn't anything as weird as that! [1]
- Sek: So? Is that ramen popular?
- Anz: Hmm... I don't know.
- Tam: Ehime people might not be as crazy about udon as the ones from Kagawa, but they like it. Nabeyaki udon is especially good!
- Sek: I see... Uuh...
- Uta: Guess ramen needs preaching, too.
- Sek: Ramen "too"!? Don't put on the same level as soba, would you? Ramen is what people think when you say "noodles".
- Tak: Really?
- Sek: The dipping sauce for soba is similar everywhere. Ramen has soy sauce, salt, tonkotsu!
- Tam: Well, that's true.
- Sek: And for toppings you have: chashu, seasoned eggs, bean sprouts, wakame seaweed and many more! Plenty of variety to be had!
- Uta: You can put stuff on soba too! Like tenpura, nori seaweed or duck meat!
- Sek: My, my. Can't exactly call it healthy with that much stuff on top, can you?'
- Uta: Guh...
- Sek: And my favourite, Asahikawa ramen has a soup made from both seafood and chicken bones...
- Sek: With a film of lard on top, keeping it piping hot even on the coldest of days!
- Anz: There it is... Lard...
- Sek: Hold it there! Add some spicy miso to it, and those calories will disappear with the sweat!
- Anz: Now that you mention, sweating does... I see, so there's that kind of ramen too.
