  2. Barfolemew, a small sand cat arrives, following Zymandi.
  3.
  4. Belstrom arrives from Thalerith - Nasherat - Warlord's Spire.
  5. Jarlanen arrives from Thalerith - Nasherat - Warlord's Spire.
  6. Shamash arrives from Thalerith - Nasherat - Warlord's Spire.
  7.
  8. Belstrom enters the meeting hall, taking his cloak off and glancing around to see who's here. He gives a polite nod to the warlord and his niece.
  9.
  10. Zymandi lounges on one of the top steps that lead up to the Warlord's Chair, crunching into a red apple that surely must have just come from Thelos. She grins around the fruit as she spots her uncle Belstrom come in.
  11. You join the Warlords Throne of Bone.
  12. Qahir arrives from Thalerith - Nasherat - Warlord's Spire.
  13. Nobu, Favored Lizard, Taro, Noble Desert Owl, Naga, Lulling Lizard arrive, following Qahir.
  14.
  15. [Sylindra] The Warlord sits on her throne as various interested parties filter in, evidently curious to be updated about the kinship's current plans for exploring the desert.
  16. Azariah arrives from Thalerith - Nasherat - Warlord's Spire.
  17. (OOC)The scene set/room mood is now set to: The meeting room has a relatively casual atmosphere. Fruit has been procured from who-knows-where.
  18.
  19. [Thalerith] Sylindra: On Zymandi's initiative we're apparently having an impromptu all hands meeting at the Meeting Hall in the Warlord's Spire, since some people were curious as to what our current exploration plans look like. It's kind of ad-hoc as we're missing a bunch of house leaders, but if you're around feel free to come.
  20.
  21. [Jarlanen] Heralded by the soft tap tap tap of his staff striking the ground Jarlanen makes his way into the spire. The speaker wields a faint smile to the world at large, the only true striking feature this day is his left arm, wrapped in linen drenched in some oil-like substance. Held gingerly close to his chest, suggesting a pain mostly ignored.
  22.
  23. [Thalerith] Zymandi: Yes, I hope I didn't step on any toes here! This is more of a meet and greet that hopefully can answer some questions if they're brought up. Thanks for indulging me and coming along! I just realized I don't know anything of other families' plans and other people might also be looking for some face time.
  24.
  25. Uanthel arrives from Thalerith - Nasherat - Warlord's Spire.
  26. Sharp-Claw a scaly monstrosity of a Krilkar arrives, following Uanthel.
  27. Dunlain arrives from Thalerith - Nasherat - Warlord's Spire.
  28. Ember, the red fur coyote arrives, following Dunlain.
  29.
  30. Belstrom raises an eyebrow at Jarlanen's arm inquisitively. "Would you like that looked at?"
  31.
  32. Zymandi crunches into her apple but frowns as she spots Jarlanen and his wrapped arm. She flicks a glance at the Warlord, sitting on the dais above her, and calls out, "Flame Speaker, what chewed on you?"
  33. [Public] Nalaea waves.
  34. [Public] Rivaron tacklehugs
  35. [Public] Zymandi: Hullo!
  36. [Public] Aurri: ello
  37.
  38. [Azariah] Hearing word of an impromptu meeting or...something, Azariah makes her way into the meeting hall, a hand reaching upwards to grab the skull mask and push it up onto the top of her head as she glances around at who is already present.
  39. [Public] Nalaea flails.
  40.
  41. Dunlain enters into the hall with a new furry follower in tow. He has some dirt and mud caked onto his normally clean metal armor. He's giving little bits of food to the coyote as he walks in, taking a tiny amount for himself now and then.
  42.
  43. [Shamash]
  44.
  45. The dull thud of his metal-reinforced boots against the stonework floor heralds Shamash's arrival. The monk enters alone; beads of perspiration slicken his skin, and he comes with the savory smoke-scent that suggests he's fresh from the sweathouse. His right arm is encased in his coil of prayer beads, and his eyes sweep from one to the other, alighting at last on Jarlanen. "You look injured, uncle. Who did you kill?"
  46.
  47. [Jarlanen] Jarlanen gives a dismissive gesture at the signs of concern, his faint smile lingering. "I thank you, Belstrom, but this is a pain willingly bear." tap, tap, tap it continues as the Speaker slowly makes his way towards the wooden chair reserved for such council as he. "The fire!" he calls out, to Shamash and Zymandi both. "The fire, nephew." soon finding his seat.
  48. Jarlanen has joined the Wooden Council Chairs.
  49.
  50. [Zymandi] The mischievous little Blade Sworn grins at Shamash and Azariah before forcing her voice to sound more solemn, "Did you put it in its place, Flame Speaker? I thought it was only supposed to tell you the future, not attack you."
  51.
  52.
  53. [Rivaron] Rivaron casually strolls into the hall, accompanied by the rustling of leathers and the jangling of metal. "Did I miss anything important?" He asks to no one in particular.
  54.
  55. Belstrom nods respectfully to the Flame Speaker, finding a seat near the back of the room.
  56.
  57. Thalerith - Nasherat - Warlord's Spire - Meeting Hall
  58.
  59. A circular room with leather hides adorning the walls, the meeting hall of the Thalerith possesses a martial feel with its mounted trophies and racks of weapons. The Warlord's chair is made of the bones of defeated beasts, adorned and updated by each new Warlord with their personal additions. Iron wrought chandeliers blaze with light from beeswax candles.
  60.
  61. Places: Warlords Throne of Bone, Wooden Council Chairs, Thalerith Woven Rugs
  62. Exits: Out <O>, Spiral Stairwell <SS>
  63. Characters: Jarlanen, Qahir, Azariah, Zymandi, Shamash, Rivaron, Belstrom, Dunlain, Uanthel, Naga, Lulling Lizard, Barfolemew, a small sand cat, Sharp-Claw a scaly monstrosity of a Krilkar, Taro, Noble Desert Owl, Nobu, Favored Lizard, Malice, a lithe and deadly Krilkar, Ember, the red fur coyote
  64. Current Room Mood: The meeting room has a relatively casual atmosphere. Fruit has been procured from who-knows-where.
  65.
  66. [Sylindra] The Warlord emits a loud grunt to quiet down conversation for a bit. "I suppose this is about everyone who is not busy elsewhere, and if anyone else filters in we can fill them in as they do," she announces. "I took at look at our old exploration plans and found them largely satisfactory and needing only some small tweaks. I have here some updated paperwork with a rudimentary map with our general goals and each House's area of responsibility." She produces a paper and hands it Jarlanen for him to them pass on to the other gathered Thalerith. (https://docs.google.com/document/d/1xMIPpXa8baftiEZTWjGCan-xfZMqQyLp0eNU5Y-touc
  67.
  68. (OOC) Zymandi says: Oh cool!
  69. (OOC) Belstrom says: hey, this is new and exciting. Did you put this together, Syl?
  70. (OOC) You say: No, the original was drawn up by Melindra, it's posted in the Thalerith board, but i did tweak it a little.
  71. (OOC) You say: The Priority Zones are my addition.
  72. (OOC) Belstrom says: huh--thanks for sharing it here. Ok.
  73.
  74. Azariah lifts her chin very slightly to Zym, then she moves towards one of the rugs, dropping herself onto it to sprawl out, letting her eyes shift around to watch everyone for a moment before her eyes finally settle on the Warlord.
  75.
  76. Zymandi cranes her neck over to peer at the map as it passes her. She apple-crunches as discreetly as possible. "I'm eager to kick the ass of a Sand Watcher, or talk to it. Or see it. Wherever it's at. Not knowing is making me antsy."
  77.
  78. [Jarlanen] Jarlanen looks over the map, a brief thing suggesting he has seen it before. A faint nod gives, before he gestures to Shamash to approach and take it, see it spread and seen by all. "I am yet to speak with her, Warlord, but I believe in the coming days I will be able to catch the good High Priestiess."
  79.
  80. Dunlain hms softly as he finds a spot against a wall to lean on. He gives the last of the food he was carrying to the coyote and then folds his arms over his chest and relaxes into his lean a little more.
  81.
  82. You say, "Based on reports from the other kinships, I would expect the Sand Watcher is in the deep desert, that's south of us, and so that's where we should be looking for it. Additionally, Thelos is poorly defended and we don't know how the portals work, which means I don't want to rely on them for contact with the other kinships. Finding overland routes to both Khelgar and Isalspire is thus also a prioirty. Taking these two goals together, I have decided it is best if we focus our exploration efforts to the South and East, which should advance both goals simultaneously."
  83.
  84. Belstrom squints at the map thoughtfully, returning his attention to the warlord.
  85.
  86. [Shamash]
  87.
  88. Shamash nods his head and reflects on that answer for a moment, before pushing toward the map and looking down at it over the shoulder of Jarlanen. "I see," he rumbles, taking it and stretching it out before him. "You seek to dominate the southern border, and limit their expansion toward us. A wise move - I presume, after, we shall move east?" The brutish priest lifts the map above his head and tugs on the edges, the fabric of it cracking with a pleasant paper sound as he stretches it. "The Watcher. It will make itself known to us; and when it does, we will overwhelm it."
  89.
  90. [Qahir] Qahir was passing through when he heard word of the meeting. Two Krilkar follow in behind him, currently jostling with each other until the elf clears his throat. His amber gaze flits between the gathered faces, bowing as needed if he gains the attention of the warlord.
  91.
  92. Zymandi spins her dwindling apple, her greenish eyes going calculative as she listens to the Warlord. She offers up quietly, "The Faenor will undoubtedly not enjoy us moving closer, if they find out. Not that it matters what they enjoy or not. But we should plan for what they may try to do."
  93.
  94. Uanthel steps in and lingers towards the back of the conversation and takes her usual squat-sit as she listens to the words of those sitting upon the dias. She seems thoughtful for some long moments at something and shifts her weight and nods at Zymandi, "And what happens if we do find this being in the space between us and Khelgar and they move to try and parley with it first after it's discovery?"
  95.
  96. Zymandi quiets, noticing Qahir approach.
  97.
  98. [Rivaron] Rivaron grunts upon seeing the map. "Makes sense, I suppose." He mumbles. Upon hearing Sylindra's comment about Thelos, he looks up. "Poorly defended, hah! You've no need to worry about Thelos." He declares. "Still, overland routes would be a good idea. Never know when they might be useful."
  99.
  100. [Azariah] "What about Lorawin?" Azariah wonders, leaning back on her elbows, "We've found what we're assuming is the ocean, we're going to need to address this situation, and the fact that we might have the first chance to connect with the Aeran in Lorawin because of it. Are we just going to focus south instead on Khelgar and Islaspire?"
  101.
  102. [Jarlanen] Jarlanen rises with a grunt. "They are creatures of the sand. It would be a day unlike any other to see the Faenor, of all, share sentiment and desires with the desert itself." the very thought almost seems to amuse him, vaguely. He walks slowly over to Belstrom then, sharing some quiet words with the elf.
  103.
  104. Zymandi nods to Azariah, and listens for a few moments without speaking again.
  105.
  106. [Qahir] It's the green, horned lizard that notices Zymandi before the elf does. Qahir then spots the blade sworn and offers her a brief smile. A beat passes, and his attentions are back on teh gathered elves once more. His eyes move between each one that speaks while the young elf attentively listens.
  107.
  108. Belstrom tilts his head toward the Flame Speaker, listening. He nods.
  109.
  110. [Shamash]
  111.
  112. "The ocean may lead to them," Shamash mentions, "but there is no one else near us to take it from us; time is of the essence with the land routes, however. If we do not establish a buffer there, we will find ourselves sealed away."
  113.
  114. Zymandi says, "I also have a hard time imagining the Faenor caring much about the Sand Watcher, or it for them. It would almost be funny seeing them try to cross the desert anyway."
  115. You receive 1 social resource for being seen out in public.
  116.
  117. [Sylindra] Sylindra clearly seems unconcerned by potential political consequences of exploring closer to Khelgar, and waves her hand as if dismissing them. "It would be foolish to force ourselves to be ignorant of the lands around us for fear of insulting the Faenor. Moreover, I'm sure our snowbound kindred will appreciate us finding an overland route between our respective domains, as their traders would benefit from it as much as ours. If there are any land disputes between us, we can resolves them as they arise, but I am sure we all can be reasonable about such matters. As for the Aeran, they are further away and resources are limited, I would rather focus on those kinships that we know to be somewhere close. That said, establishment of naval forces is in the works and eventually iI do hope to explore a coastal route to Lorawin."
  118.
  119. Zymandi says, "What of Moya Falls? It's a valuable resource, and probably leads to the water itself, somehow, north of Nasherat. It's still untouched."
  120.
  121. Zymandi says, "It could be a strategic piece, if we have to lure sand creatures -somewhere-."
  122.
  123. [Sylindra] "Ah Moya Falls, yes, I suppose I might as well make the announcement now," the Warlord says. "I have already made arrangements for the Filinnar to build stone fortifications at Moya Falls to protect it, work is underway as we speak."
  124.
  125. Belstrom nods, looking impressed.
  126.
  127. [Jarlanen] Jarlanen murmurs gratitude to Belstrom, his linen wrapped arm resting on the other elf's shoulder for a brief moment before he looks up. He smiles, a pleased thing at the announcement.
  128.
  129. Message of the day for Thalerith set to: Our ordained conquest of the desert continues. After too long a delay, construction has finally begun on a stone keep and other fortifications at Moya Falls in order to secure this valuable and strategic location.
  130.
  131. [Shamash]
  132.
  133. Once satisfied all have seen the map, Shamash rolls it up with a gentle rustle, and places its furled length upon a table. It bounces, skids, and half-unfolds, its edges curling inward like the legs of a dying spider. "Soon enough, Sedriel's preparations will be complete," he mentions. "And with my uncle's leave, I will see what lies in the sands in our name."
  134.
  135. [Qahir] Qahir moved away to get some fruits after a few moments. However, when the Warlord spoke he gave her his undivided attention. Those few moments were just enough for the violet and green scaled lizard to snatch away his food.
  136.
  137. Zymandi looks thoughtful, eyes glittering with some sort of future-plan speculation, but she nods to Sylindra respectfully. "I'm hoping to fund a shrine to Aereth, to bring Her good-will to our eventual naval force, and I know Melindra had similar thoughts for Rithor. I'd like to perhaps share the defenses at Moya for this purpose, some day, or go to the coast and carve out a cavern at Abbasah."
  138.
  139. Zymandi says, "But for now it's a relief that the Falls will be protected. Who knows what's to the North of us."
  140.
  141. [Dunlain] "I can offer our kinship my aid in selling some of our, extra, resources to various buyers in Thelos." Dunlain begins, speaking up when conversation goes a little quiet, "I happen to know people there that might find interest in things we can only get here in the sands. Perhaps get them to pay a higher price than normal for such resources."
  142. [Thalerith] Zymandi: I like this google doc a lot, with the map and phases. can we add a section for each Family of like "interested explorers" in case the pool of players has shifted a bunch since the parties were originally planned?
  143. [Thalerith] Shamash: Post it to the bboards if it isn't already, too, Syl.
  144. A messenger arrives, delivering a message to Belstrom before departing.
  145. [Thalerith] Sylindra: The Exploration Group sections have been empty since forever, so feel free to add yourselves to them.
  146. [Thalerith] Zymandi: Cool! We can pare them down to 5 people later on if it's even necessary then
  147.
  148.
  149. Azariah seems to have had all her questions answered, or at least isn't dragging out any further questions at the moment. Instead she's just listens, nodding in agreement when the plans for the falls are made clear.
  150.
  151. [Thalerith] Zaltar: cool
  152. [Thalerith] Belstrom: so, the sedriel exploration was started by Ayalith...a couple weeks ago. And she hasn't been on for a bit. It included several people from other families, because Sedriel was short at the time, but now it's not.
  153. [Thalerith] Zymandi: Maybe add a "backup explorers" to that one underneath then, of non-Sedriels? anything to keep it recorded somewhere
  154. [Thalerith] Belstrom: Since Ayalith has not been on lately, I'm not sure if she's going to come back and submit this action, or if another one should be started--but I gave the info to Jarlanen and I'm guessing he'll decide over the next little bit.
  155. [Thalerith] Sylindra: Ayalith is due to be back tomorrow or the day after, so you and Jarlanen might have a chance to discuss it with her soon.
  156. [Thalerith] Jarlanen: Good, good.
  157. [Thalerith] Zymandi: Goooood. I miss Aya
  158. [Thalerith] Belstrom: that would be great--because it's ready to go, just needs the starter to submit it. And then the 'new sedriels' can start on the next thing the fam wants to do
  159. [Thalerith] Zaltar: good to know ^_^
  160. [Thalerith] Sylindra: Note that I don't know her, she just said in the Discord that work is slamming her until Tuesday, IIRC. That's all i know.
  161. [Thalerith] Zaltar: heh
  162.
  163. [Jarlanen] Jarlanen nods as Shamash as the elf speaks. "You will, good nephew, you will." seemingly having had his hushed conversation with Belstrom finished he makes his way over towards the council chairs oncemore.
  164.
  165. Zymandi says, "Mm, yes, Dunlain knows all the best ways to squeeze money out of the respectable citizens of Thelos. If we need silver, that's not a bad idea. We certainly have no shortage of things to trade."
  166.
  167. [Shamash]
  168.
  169. "Offer them sand," Shamash ventures. "We have a monopoly on it."
  170.
  171. You praise the actions of Zymandi. You have 8 praises remaining.
  172. Player Zymandi pages you: Thanks ^_^ I was hoping this wouldn't be too chaotic
  173.
  174. Zymandi says, "I think they're onto us, with the whole sand-as-currency thing..."
  175.
  176. [Sylindra] Sylindra addresses Dunlain, "I think for now we need to conserve our resources for exploration. Our supply of silver is currently sufficient for our needs, so there is little need to adquire more just yet."
  177.
  178. Dunlain nods to the Warlord, "Well if there is need. I've been working to establish a network there, the Templars are short on silver right now." a pause, "Anyways, I'm building up contacts, so if we need anything I'm your guy."
  179.
  180. [Shamash]
  181.
  182. "If the meeting is done," announces Shamash, turning upon a heel. "I will be off. Rithor abhors the idle, and my training awaits. Be well, all of you; perhaps one will follow me to the pit." The brawny monk then strides off.
  183. Zymandi has left the game.
  184. Barfolemew, a small sand cat have been dismissed.
  185.
  186. [Azariah] "Are we needing to get more silver in? If we're wanting to offer something that we have..." Azariah glances towards Shamash, then points out, "Glass...we //do// have sand, and a monopoly on it. From that we can make glass."
  187.
  188. Uanthel pats the side of her rotund Krilkar where she lingers, "If we need to gather supplies for a venture, I can help to gather some things from the desert that won't cost us silver in the market, from hunting or foraging, like any act of War away from home, food when we do not yet know the land."
  189. Shamash is leaving, heading for Thalerith - Nasherat - Warlord's Spire.
  190.
  191. [Jarlanen] "I too will have to depart." Jarlanen notes as he stands yet again. "Duties call beyond these I do fear. But I see much promise in the times to come, with much hardship. - Winds be at your back, everyone." tap, tap, tap his staff goes as he makes to leave.
  192.
  193. [Sylindra] "The meeting is I believe concluded," the Warlord announces. "We may need to do a follow-up at some point, but it has been surprisingly productive. I wish to congratulate my First Blade Zymandi for taking the initiative on organizing this. You are all dismissed."
  194.
  195. [Belstrom] "Good night, Warlord." Belstrom heads for the exit.
  196. Belstrom is leaving, heading for Thalerith - Nasherat - Warlord's Spire.
  197. Jarlanen is leaving, heading for Thalerith - Nasherat - Warlord's Spire.
  198. Jarlanen has left the Wooden Council Chairs.
  199.
  200. New post on Thalerith by Sylindra: Updated Exploration Plans
  201. Use @bbread Thalerith/19 or http://ithirmush.org/comms/boards/551/view/13190 to read this message.
  202.
  203. [Rivaron] "Hrm. If we are ever in need of silver, perhaps an oathbreaker sentenced to die might... misplace some of their possessions." Rivaron muses. "They might end up being sold in the market, who knows. It's possible, that's all I'm saying. Anyway, I'll see you around, sis." Rivaron strolls out, clapping Dunlain on the shoulder as he leaves.
  204. (OOC) Rivaron says: Why have I not turned the Templars into the mafia yet
  205. (OOC) Rivaron says: that's a real missed opportunity
  206. (OOC) Shamash says: lack of spaghetti to get you in the italian mood
  207. (OOC) Shamash says: but fear not, as the resident italian-american I will teach you our ways
  208.
  209. [Sylindra] Sylindra chuckles, "Yes I suppose things like that might happen. See you around, bro."
  210. (OOC) Rivaron says: I had spaghetti for dinner :p
  211. (OOC) Rivaron says: time to break some kneecaps
  212.
  213. Zymandi watches Rivaron, her eyes slitting slightly as she spins the apple core around. But she perks up and her mood shifts, "I'm in the mood for a fight. It's too bad Rivek isn't here."
  214.
  215. [Dunlain] "I could spar with you, First Blade." Dunlain says, a small piece of mud cracking off his armor.
  216.
  217. Zymandi says, "Please, First Blade is my cat's name."
  218.
  219. Zymandi springs up gracefully, looking mischievous.
  220. (OOC) Shamash okays, scoots back to the pit now that qahir got it in
  221. Shamash is leaving, heading for Thalerith - Nasherat - Warlord's Spire.
  222.
  223. Uanthel sniffs in and says, "Sharp-Claw might be bored, or I with him. Though I think the priest wanted a fight, it could be a regular brawl with enough people there."
  224. (OOC) Zymandi says: I'm also gonna go to the sparring area I think! I might die otherwise, I don't know.
  225.
  226. Azariah pushes herself to her feet, hands brushing at her clothes before she inclines her head to those remaining in the room before she starts to head for the door.
  227. (OOC) You say: Definitely spar in the arena please, i don't y'all dying on me.
  228. (OOC) Dunlain dies ontop of Syl literally
  229.
  230. Zymandi heads for the door also, pausing to murmur with Azariah a bit.
  231.
  232. (OOC) Rivaron says: eh, I'll watch peeps die
  233.
  234. Azariah pauses when Zymandi murmurs something to her, frowning before she replies equally as quietly.
  235. (OOC) Rivaron waves, disappears into a cloud of noxious smoke
  236.
  237. Rivaron is leaving, heading for Thalerith - Nasherat - Warlord's Spire.
  238. A messenger arrives, delivering a message to Qahir before departing.
  239.
  240. [Qahir] Qahir was trying to get a handle on one of the lizards with him. When dismissal comes from the Warlord he has his hand in the Krilkar's mouth. A nod comes from the elf, and he was ready to say something. Whatever it was doesn't come when a messenger arrives, and whatever he reads of the missive leaves him frowning. Luckily, it's time to go, and without another word he takes his leave with both lizards in tow.
  241. (OOC) Qahir says: I promised Val something, and it's not that far from time to pumpkin. Thanks for setting this up, Zymandi.
  242. Qahir is leaving, heading for Thalerith - Nasherat - Warlord's Spire.
  243. Nobu, Favored Lizard, Taro, Noble Desert Owl, Naga, Lulling Lizard leave, following Qahir.
  244.
  245. Dunlain pushes himself from the wall and motions to his coyote, saying sharply but quietly, "Ember. Follow." he then leaves through the doors as well, but gives the krilkar enough space they don't interact with his less murdery sandpuppy.
  246. Zymandi is leaving, heading for Thalerith - Nasherat - Warlord's Spire.
  247. Barfolemew, a small sand cat leaves, following Zymandi.
  248. Dunlain is leaving, heading for Thalerith - Nasherat - Warlord's Spire.
  249. Ember, the red fur coyote leaves, following Dunlain.
