ok so i want you to imagine that theres this subreddit that was meant to be pretty memey for trans people but it basically turned into a wide fishing net "gotta catch em all" type thing where they just started posting memes that would appeal to anyone who is gender non conforming at all and basically tried to convince them what if that means you're trans. so these people see these memes and they start thinking huh im gender non conforming sometimes i have these thoughts, these people in the comments are talking about being trans, maybe im trans. so they look at the side bar and see a discord server called the hatchery. So they join.

Now the hatchery itself is a huge clusterfuck with too many people but we will get to that. A person who is questioning can ping for a "hatcher" to help them in specific rooms where they are supposed to talk about their feelings and why they think they might be trans etc etc. And the way the rules of the server are set up is that no one is supposed to influence anyone at all whatsoever about their gender identity and you think thats a good thing but it doesnt really work like that for 2 reasons.

1. when people talk about their reasons for being trans that are obviously not dysphoria and they arent actually trans, NO ONE CAN TELL THEM THEY MIGHT NOT BE TRANS. YOU CANT EVEN HINT AT THAT. they have a very strict "anti truscum rule" and you will be instabanned if you even imply a person needs to have dysphoria to be trans

2. The hatchers will often "push" people into thinking they are trans and straight up dont follow the rule. Just like on subreddit, they will often tell the person "well look at all these gender non conforming things you did, cis people dont do that and they sure as hell dont question their gender". nevermind the fact that this person is only questioning their gender because this group is gaslighting them into thinking they might be trans because they arent 100% masculine or feminine.

3. When a person very clearly has a fetish, ie, AGP, they are told its not actually a fetish, its gender euphoria and they are just really happy about being a girl. Im not kidding i will post screenshots.

And then you have the makeup of the server itself, which as i mentioned before is quite large. 3.3k people last time i checked and because of that its very hard for any one person to get attention. But do you know what always gets people attention on that server? Talking about how much of an "egg" they are, talking about why they think they might be trans, their new pronouns (half of that server has neo pronouns), or basically anything transition related. So these really confused and lonely teens from reddit join this server and get ignored until they start talking about gender things and how they might be trans. Then they get attention, which makes them feel good. Then they are told that feeling is called gender euphoria, which means they are trans.

And last but not least you have the actual trans people who join that server and realize they are trans. This is surely a good thing, right? Well yes but the problem is that the nature of the server is basically brainwashing them into accepting a lot of other bullshit along with it. The idea that even though all these other people claiming to be trans dont have dysphoria like they do they are totally tans too. Not to mention otherkin, ridiculous sexualities, people faking multiple personality disorder (several mods do this), rediculous pronouns, etc etc. They are told they have to accept all of this, without any question at all. Questioning anything about another person will get you banned, no matter how ridiculous what they say is. So because these people are grateful for this place helping them realize they are trans they either consciously or unconsciously become conditioned to accept the gaslighting about all the other issues.

The problem with the hatchery is that its basically ideological brainwashing. People who are not trans are being gaslit into thinking they are because of attention, and people who are trans are being gaslit into accepting a lot of just completely insane things. Its a very insidious thing because its not entirely apparent at first glance whats going on in that server. They way its set up the casual observer would think its probably not that bad just a little cringy. But its not, its not ok at all. Its really fucked up. You could have 5 nazi/alt right types sit in a group and come up with the most ridiculous strawman of what trans people are and what a server would be like and yet all of that is true on the hatchery except the hatchery is worse.
