  13.
  14. January has been way more metal for me than it has been the past few months, all thanks to this to song (and architects). I heard this song via some reaction and absolutely fell in love with it so uh had been kinda looping it for a few days.

  26. the first time I've not subbed brothertiger to a monthly.. it's a 2021 miracle.......this band came to me in my discover weekly with "what does the normal man feel" last year, which I liked, but I never followed up on their other stuff. I decided to look further when brothertiger namedropped them as a local act he's into during an AMA 😂😂😂😂
  27.
  28. their debut album is really good imo, really halocore (in sound, not so much in water references). i love closing my eyes and letting the synths in "The Motorist" take me to heaven, or at least to a little car sailing down the highway with friends who I haven't seen in months.

  43. Someone in one of my servers sent this video sometime mid January and it made me lose my shit -- I think I lost my spleen laughing that day, and many days after. I'm not sure why I found it so funny, but I suppose I loved it enough to the point where I looked for the song on Spotify and blasted the whole song.
  44.
  45. My housemate heard me listening to this song one day and told me that this is actually a meme song where you'd put this song over random "French" shit, and that night we spent maybe around half an hour just watching videos and videos of it on YouTube. So yeah, I guess you guys get this song for the month!

  53. January was the month where I binged gloomy women (and Bambara) more than normal. In general I really hate winter, the never-ending darkness, and the cold. This January really was worse for me than usual, but I ended up finding Anna's music weirdly comforting. I had tried some of her albums before, mainly thanks to my friendship with pk, but this was the month when the music really clicked. This is definitely my favourite album and track from her. The helpless emotion, the whiny guitar, and the simple, but hopeless lyrics are really what ended up making me come back to it over and over again last month.

  84. Here it goes, I'm subbing k-pop song as not my most-played track of the month, but my favourite. The genre somewhat managed to keep my mood up (until certain point at least) and I can definitely say now that I'll be interested in what the genre has to offer, I didn't listen to a lot, but fairly much, especially LOOΠΔ and the Odd Eye Circle as well. Gotta say thank you to @John🥳#2527 for subbing that Weki Meki song *COOL* to an earlier playlist (first k-pop song I found myself enjoying) and @Bargot#0069 for leading me and sprung through k-pop music that one night (and for subbing Seori that made us listen to k-pop in the first place).
  85.
  86. My mood been all over the place and I can say January was just ridden with anxiety and low mood, but it had its moments and that song is here to represent that. It's fun and cheerful.
  87.
  88. Other songs I considered submitting were:
  89. Chelsea Wolfe - Anhedonia, which came out shortly before the end of January and me spamming this track put it as my #2 most-played of the month,
  90. ΛΛ4Я4ZΛΛ - YOURPRINCIPLES, from an album which's song stefan suggested me to listen to and I really enjoyed it, putting it on a separate Spotify playlist along with *Anhedonia* and looping it over and over put this one on my #3 most-played, along with *Hi High*
  91.
  92. Among my top 5 of January 2021 were:
  93. 1. DØVES - fuck (38)
  94. 2. Chelsea Wolfe - Anhedonia (31)
  95. 3. ΛΛ4Я4ZΛΛ - YOURPRINCIPLES (24)

  108. I didn't scrobble a lot this January, "only" 3014 scrobbles.
  109. Most of my top 10 is filled with tracks from Nothing's "The Great Dismal".
  110. However, none of them are my #1 - it's actually:
  111.
  112. Penelope's Fiance, a Greek industrial/techno artist.
  113. Techno isn't a genre I listen to very often, but for some reason this album worked for me. This track stood out for me the most and it's the only one I really spammed outside of the album runs. Enjoy :flushedtunes:

  134. I enjoyed this band a lot in the 2010s and although their newer stuff hasn't been my cup of tea, this song stuck out as a great one for me at the end of 2020, and it carried over into January. I know nobody really likes this kinda stuff except for me, but here we are :)

  155. I could have subbed Amenra, but my top track would be A Solitary Reign - only because else subbed the track on a playlist. Another option would have been Sunmi - pporappippam, which I subbed myself to the SotY :kek:
  156.
  157. So let's go with this. Instrumental Hip Hop. *Hip Hop beats*. Without voice accompanying them they walk the line between being absolutely boring and being super vibey - because their production and just having the right speed for me. Rarely they stick out too much though.
  158.
  159. Seoul Seoul does stick out. It carries an emotion (the whole album does, but not like *that*). When the violin (?) hits for the first time it sounds so sad, like if the melody is a heavy weight on the beat. And all that while still being just a vibey Hip Hop beat.

  165. I had roughly 200 scrobbles on this artist like two weeks ago and now I have nearly 1k. Absolutely obsessed with his discog because it really just stands out in the stagnant scene and still has a fresh feel but still highlights the boombap era and lazy flows I love. His voice stands out so much and his wordplay is incredible. I doubt anyone will enjoy but it’s a really special song to me

  175. Comment:
  176. If I had to sum up January in music, I could just say "I listened to a lot of Rhapsody." To be more specific, 317 Rhapsody scrobbles scattered across the four different bands. The discog run was an absolute blast and it has got me really into their music. Just call me a nerd already damnit.
  177.
  178. My favorite Rhapsody era ended up being the brief period of time in the 2010s when they were making absolute top-notch music right before the split. It's so much darker and more aggressive than anything else they have put out before or after. Now, "Aeons of Raging Darkness" was not my most scrobbled song of January, but it is certainly the most interesting one that fits within a 10 minute time limit. This was one of the biggest curveballs in the entire discog run, and I can't get enough of this shrieky-blast-beat Rhapsody. Shame that harsh vocals never became a regular part of their music.

  189. January has been a big nostalgia mood month for me. And this song has been one of my jams back when I was discovering new music years ago. I remember I didn't know shit about music, how to download it or anything at all. That's when a friend gave me some songs through Bluetooth (yes it do be those kinda days) on my little phone which barely had any space. There were quite a few of these kinda songs popular then and I got hooked to this, Pitbull, Edward Maya, Calvin Harris, Swedish House Mafia, Daft Punk... the list goes on.
  190.
  191. But yeah, even though I don't have fond memories of a ~decade ago, I'll always enjoy these tunes.
