Full Pokemon Series Race

Pokémon Series Race

This a race of all Pokémon gen 1-8 main series games, including almost all side games. The additional requirement: catch one of every Pokémon in at least one (main series) game, excluding event only or those that need multiple systems to be obtained legitimately. This will create an incredibly complex race of routing and knowledge that will take weeks. We are doing this TBD (though people are free to start anytime after this, and are not forced to start at that time). Exact dates will differ slightly from runner to runner but most runners are aiming for June/July 2020.

Games and rules:

All categories use the ruleset specified on speedrun.com for that specific category (unless otherwise specified) as of the starting time of the race. Runners are recommended to stay in touch with the respective communities or to check the rulesets regularly of each game to keep up-to-date with any rule changes.

* Runner can choose any of the games in this set (i.e. only has to do either Red or Blue Rescue team)
** Catches in Let's Go do not count towards the sum of pokemon

Details:
- Playing multiple games at once in any capacity is NOT allowed (obviously)
- With few exceptions, each Pokémon must be obtained in at least one MAIN SERIES game. Exceptions include the following:
     - Mew, Scizor, Porygon2, Celebi, Jirachi, Electivire, Magmortar, Porygon-Z, Manaphy, Phione, Shaymin, Darkrai, Arceus,
       Victini, Landorus, Keldeo, Meloetta, Genesect, Diancee, Hoopa, Volcanion, Magearna, Marshadow, Zeraora, Meltan, Melmetal
       and 1 Galar starter line are unobtainable. These do not count.

Due to this, 861 Pokémon must be obtained in addition to the above list of games that need to be finished. The race will be done in such a way that a break up to 5 hours is permitted for every 6 hours of gameplay. Runners are allowed one additional 24 hour break for every 72 total hours of gameplay (i.e. 1 day per week). Once a break has started it counts as a break, even if not the full 5 hours are used. Runners are recommended (though not required) to display both an RTA timer and a play timer to indicate how long it actually takes as well as the number of breaks taken.

Note 1: you do not need to have a living dex, so evolving your Squirtle into Wartortle and then Blastoise without catching another will count as having obtained all 3. However, this does not mean you can restart saves without losing several hours, so we will be using (almost) all 23 starters throughout! You must have saved with everything as well, so catching Pokemon A, resetting and catching Pokemon B will result in only Pokemon B counting. You must have everything caught saved on a file, regardless of what game it is in. Pokemon may be caught in gens later than they appear and it will still count (ex. Zubat/Golbat caught in gen 3 will count overall, and is a better option due to needing to evolve into Crobat). Note that this results in 1 starter line becoming unavailable since there are only 2 gen 8 games and as of right now you cannot obtain the 3rd starter in these games.
