  1. Be Anon.
  2. >Lovely afternoon in the castle's courtyard.
  3. >"A-Anon, why is it that you desire me to pose like this?
  4. >you shake your head and sigh.
  5. "I've told you a hundred times, I want to keep you with me always."
  6. >Celestia's face becomes puzzled.
  7. >"But Anon, I'm the princess! I can visit you any time you like."
  8. >you make a mock scowl and she assumes the pose you requested.
  9. "Stay still... and smile!"
  10. *click*
  11. "I know, but there are times when you just need that special somepony by your si-"
  12. >"...Anon...what did you just say?"
  13. >damn it
  14. >you've been so careful.
  15. >do you lie?
  16. >could you lie?
  17. >Honesty might be the best choice in this situation.
  18. >How did you end up in this situation in the first place?
  19.
  20. ****************
  21.
  22. >your room is a lot colder then you remember.
  23. >your bed is a lot harder then you remember.
  24. >you also don't remember feeling an all over pain.
  25. "Christ, what did I do last night?"
  26. >"It talks!"
  27. >it?
  28. >"It's moving!"
  29. >"Princess! Stay behind us, it may be hostile."
  30. >What the serious-
  31. >You open your eyes to see yourself surrounded by gold armoured Horses
  32. "Okay... this is the second strangest thing I have ever had happen to me."
  33. >"Halt creature!"
  34. >Creature?
  35. >Wait did that Horse just talk?
  36. "Wait, did you just talk?"
  37. >The leader(?) speaks again
  38. >"Of course I did, and you are under arrest"
  39. >niggawut?.jpg
  40. "On the charge of?"
  41. >"Trespassing in the Court of Princess Celestia!"
  42. "Princess who?"
  43. >"Celestia! Ruler of Equestria! And by Royal Law-"
  44. >A new voice, feminine stern, almost motherly rings out.
  45. >"You'll do no such thing Captain. The only thing you'll do is move so that I may see our wayward guest."
  46. >As the guards move make way you spit out.
  47. "Stop calling me a creature, I'm a human."
  48. >"Did you say Human? I apologize, our kind hasn't ever seen anything like you before."
  49. >holy shit that is a big horse.
  50. >wait does she have wings?
  51. >and is that a horn?
  52. "What exactly are you? You completely dwarf all these horses."
  53. >grunts of indignation abound.
  54. >"We are not horses. We are Pony, and I am an Alicorn."
  55. > what the serious hell is going on?
  56. "Anon"
  57. >The 'Alicorn' looks at you quizzically
  58. "It's my name."
  59. >"Celestia"
  60. >you take a moment to look her over
  61. >her coat is almost unnaturally white
  62. >her hair... mane? Defied all logic
  63. >her violet eyes seem to be looking over you as well
  64. "Not that I don't understand the need to protect your royalty but can we not all stand and stare at me like I'm gonna stab someone?"
  65. >the guards hold their ground
  66. >"Captain take Anon to my Chambers and see that he stays there. Also send for a maid from the Kitchens. I will deal with this once my sister awakens for the Night Court."
  67. >she shoots you a wink
  68. >do you trust her?
  69. >all alone in a strange place
  70. >the only one of your kind
  71. >in a place populated by pastel ponies
  72. >and their monarch wants you to go to her chambers?
  73. >fuck
  74. >you seriously doubt you'd be able to out run a hors-- pony
  75. >moreover where would you run?
  76. >A bedroom sounds better then a prison cell
  77. "Lead the way."
  78. >yeah this did not seem like it was going to end well
  79.
  80. **********************
  81. >to their credit the guards didn't mishandle you
  82. >hell, they didn't even tie you up
  83. >your imagination conjures up an image of one of these guards trying to tie you up with no hands
  84. >kek
  85. >"Here we are. Get inside at stay there. Celestia will be here in a few hours to deal with you."
  86. >without awaiting reply he shoves you into the room and locks the door
  87. "I give the service here a 0/10, surly, brutish and down right useless. Would not visit again!"
  88. >you know the guard wouldn't listen
  89. >he probably didn't care
  90. >what are you going to do to pass the time?
  91. >sleep?
  92. >yeah right
  93. >there is a small stack of books
  94. >how do they even hold books? they have hooves!
  95. >grabbing "Daring Doo" from the pile you sit down on an over sized chair and start reading
  96.
  97. ********************
  98.
  99. >that turned out way cooler then expected
  100. >It was like Indiana Jones
  101. >just with Pegasus
  102. >and magic
  103. >and a Cat-monkey thing
  104. >the door unlocks and in walks--trots(?) Celestia
  105. >she spares you a smile
  106. >"Ah Daring Doo. A favourite of one of my faithful student's friends."
  107. "You must have questions."
  108. >"There will be plenty of time for that in a moment. Would you like to come to the balcony and watch the sunset?'
  109. "Sure."
  110. >you lay the book where you found is and follow Celestia to a balcony with a gilded handrail
  111. >Celestia seems to be concentrating and a golden shimmer envelops her horn
  112. >She nods her head at the sun
  113. >you watch in awe that every way she moves, the sun follows
  114. "Did you just... set the sun?"
  115. >she giggles in an altogether far to childish way
  116. >"That's nothing I can raise it to."
  117. >sciences tells you different
  118. >disbelief shows plainly on your face
  119. >You turn to see the sun peek back up over the hills
  120. >it sets again
  121. >this repeats a few times
  122. >Rule #1 Science doesn't work
  123. "Okay, okay! I'm convinced."
  124. >She seems satisfied with that
  125. >"You must also have questions."
  126. >you chuckle
  127. "Just a few."
  128. >The two of you exchange everything you know about your prospective homes
  129. >You must have been at it for hours
  130. >a few particularly odd questions came up though
  131. >you ask Celestia if she was a Goddess
  132. >she laughed at that
  133. >"To some, I suppose. What I am is an Alicorn."
  134. >Celestia asked you what exactly those things on the end of your limbs were
  135. "My hands?"
  136. >Celestia shakes her head no
  137. >"No, the little things on the end"
  138. "Fingers?"
  139. >"And what service, prey tell, do fingers serve?"
  140. >you struggled to answer that for a moment
  141. "They can do a lot of things... like scratch behind your ears for instance."
  142. >her eyes narrow at you
  143. >did you just flirt with a god?
  144. >"Really now, is that right?"
  145. >and you aren't dead
  146. "Really"
  147. >she lowers her head and waits
  148. >"Well?"
  149. >you look confused
  150. >"You tell me that your fingers can serve such a specific purpose, so I'd like a demonstration."
  151. >Well damn
  152. >"If they can't do it Anon I'll-"
  153. >you start scratching
  154. >she's warm
  155. >she's softer then anything you've ever touched
  156. >she coos as you scratch
  157. >"Well... I might just have to keep you around the castle."
  158. >you stop
  159. >"I didn't say stop."
  160. >her voice dropped about an octave
  161. "You want to keep me around as a professional ear scratcher?"
  162. >you start scratching again
  163. >She smirks
  164. >"Among other things, I haven't had a chat like this in ages."
  165. >you smile too
  166. >maybe this wasn't so bad after all
  167. >you mostly made small talk until the topic of age came up
  168. >"Guess my age."
  169. "Considering I don't see any grey hairs, wrinkles, sagging skin or anything of the sort I'd say maybe 28 - 29 plus or minus a few years."
  170. >first, came the light dusty rose blush
  171. >second, came the the laughter
  172. >last came the pleasant smile
  173. >"Aren't you the flatterer."
  174. "What do you mean?"
  175. >"I'm over a few thousand years Anon."
  176. >Whoa
  177. "Whoa, you seriously do no look it."
  178. >she smiles
  179. >"Enough of that, you're just trying to be nice."
  180. >you deadpan stare
  181. "Seriously, unless that is normal for you ponies there was no way I'd ever guess that."
  182. >Her smile falters a little
  183. >"It isn't."
  184. >you feel a lot of weight in those two words
  185. >with the mirth gone from her eyes she looks ages older
  186. >"Eternity is sometimes more a curse then a blessing."
  187. >you nod
  188. "Sounds painfully depressing. Going through life and seeing those you love and care about wither and fade."
  189. >she looks at you
  190. >"For one so young, you certainly know are wise beyond your years."
  191. >coming from a several millennium old pony that had to count for something
  192. >you try to stifle a yawn but it fails
  193. >"Tired, my little human?"
  194. >You gawk at her
  195. >"Don't like my name for you?"
  196. >you want to fight her about it but you are very exhausted
  197. "It's fine. So, where am I going to sleep?"
  198. >Celestia lays down on her bed and motions for you to get in
  199. >that's twice she's got you in such a short time span
  200. >"Get in, it's late and I'd rather not have a maid have to walk up and turn down a room for you."
  201. "Thanks..."
  202. >You gingerly crawl onto the bed with Celestia
  203. >you shiver as the chill in the air starts to set in
  204. >"Come closer to me my little human, I won't bite you."
  205. >you are too cold to not oblige
  206. >Celestia's wing rests over you like a blanket
  207. >fuck these feathers are soft
  208. >"Good night Anon, my little human."
  209. >you still frown a little at the nickname
  210. "Good night Princess."
  211. >all is quiet for a few moments
  212. >a pregnant silence hangs in the air
  213. >"Celestia."
  214. "Hmm?"
  215. >"When we are alone, just Celestia. Please."
  216. "Sure thing Celestia."
  217. >everything feels okay
  218. >you close your eyes
  219. >sleep takes you quickly
  220.
  221. **********************
  222.
  223. >"Anon..."
  224. >A quiet female voice rouses you from your slumber
  225. >your eyes up to the feathery blanket of Celestia's wings
  226. >still in Ponyworld
  227. >the sun isn't even up yet
  228. >"Anon..."
  229. >maybe because the Sun God-Alicorn was sleeping with you
  230. >that sounded way better before you thought it
  231. >groaning you answer
  232. "I'm up Celestia."
  233. >"I was wondering if you'd like to watch the sunrise."
  234. >well you were awake anyway
  235. "Sure thing."
  236. >just like yesterday you followed her to the balcony
  237. >the orange rays slowly began to streak across the land
  238. >it was beautiful
  239. >this place was so different from home
  240. >was that place ever really your home?
  241. >You blink away the tears that start to fall
  242. >your life back there was not pleasant
  243. >Celestia turns her to you and as her magic fades and she her polite smile falters
  244. >"Anon are you alright?"
  245. "I'm fine."
  246. >you sounded so scratchy and raw
  247. >"Anon, it's clear you are not. Have I done something?"
  248. "No, you haven't done anything. I am just remembering, the sunrise just reminded me of where I came from."
  249. >"Your home?"
  250. >She is trying to sound even but there is a hint of confusion
  251. "Where I come from... I'm not sure home is the right word for it... it's just a place were I lived for a while."
  252. >Celestia nuzzles you
  253. >"I understand. Tell me when you are ready. Breakfast is being served so we should head to the dining hall."
  254. >you nod and follow your friend down the corridor towards the start of your day
  255. >this became a routine for you
  256. >Each day Celestia would wake you up to watch the sun rise together
  257. >Each day you'd go to breakfast
  258. >Each day you became more and more like Celestia's shadow
  259. >Some days you would go to her room and read
  260. >Others you would join her in the Day Court
  261. >Man, some of these ponies
  262. >Bitching over the stupidest things
  263. >Celestia had told you the clothing was something that the upper class enjoyed lording over each other
  264. >Usually the ones in the fancy clothes bitched the most
  265. >The others that came from smaller places always seemed to be more respectful
  266. >Today however, was a particularly bad pair of upper class jackasses
  267. >They haven't stopped bickering since you've got in here
  268. >Simple body language says that the guards want to throw them out
  269. >Celestia's impassive face is even twitching
  270. >Fuck it's over an hour past lunch and these bastards can't pull their heads out of there asses to just say what they want
  271. "Okay, fuck, it's been like an hour. Both of you shut the fuck up!"
  272. >They stand stock still
  273. >The guards are snickering
  274. >Celestia's face has the slightest of grins
  275. >You regard her for a moment
  276. "If I may."
  277. >She nods
  278. "What exactly is the problem?"
  279. >both of them open their mouths
  280. "No, one at a damn time. Didn't your parents teach you manners?"
  281. >The one on the left explains that apparently they both went to the same social function wearing the same outfit and because he bought his first the other pony should be punished
  282. >The right one explains that he had no foreknowledge that the other was going to be wearing said suit
  283. >you look incredulously at the high-society ponies
  284. "Are you fucking kidding me? A suit. You came to get mediation by the Princess of the Sun over a fucking suit?"
  285. >they seem hurt
  286. >fuck them it's an hour and a half past lunch and your patience is gone
  287. "The Day Court is suppose to be to help set disputes that multiple parties can not solve without some form of mediation with, ultimately, a verdict."
  288. >Celestia smiles
  289. "But since you're here and you already wasted so much fucking time, I'm gonna give a solution."
  290. >The castle staff is very amused
  291. "First off, you are both going to drop it. It happened in the past and there isn't a damn thing either of you can do about that now."
  292. >the left pony opens his mouth
  293. "Shut it, I'm not done. Second, whenever you fancy folk want to organize one of these things take a picture of your outfit and post it at your clubroom or wherever it is you all congregate. That way no pony wears the same thing as another pony."
  294. >Celestia stands and moves beside you
  295. "Is this agreeable, Princess?"
  296. >Somehow managing to keep the smile and irritation out of her voice she speaks
  297. >"I am in agreement with my Vizier."
  298. > Did you just get a promotion?
  299. >"Henceforth, it is decreed that all formal parties shall require a pictograph from each attendant to prevent any further incidents like this from happening."
  300. >they bow and leave
  301. >Celestia stands and watches after them
  302. >Amusement is clear on the faces of the guards
  303. >you turn to Celestia
  304. "Vizier?"
  305. >"It seemed appropriate."
  306. "How do you handle things like this normally?"
  307. >"They would have tired themselves out eventually. Lunch?"
  308. >you shake your head and follow her to the dining room
  309.
  310. ********************************
  311.
  312. >the dining hall was empty save for a earth pony maid doing some dusting
  313. >"Excuse me, would you be so kind as to go to the kitchens and fetch a rose petal salad of me, and whatever it is Anon would like."
  314. >the whole no meat thing sucked at first but you have started to get used to it
  315. "Just a garden salad if you would."
  316. >the maid bows and leaves you both alone
  317. >Celestia seems to stare at you expectantly
  318. "What?"
  319. >"Why were you so upset this morning?"
  320. >this again
  321. "Celestia... where I'm from, things aren't like here. Everyone here takes what you say at face value. Everything is so bright here, the colours are more vibrant, even the air feels different."
  322. >"Anon, my home is not without problems-"
  323. >you cut her off
  324. "Growing up all I had was my Dad. We lived on the streets of a big city and we struggled everyday to eat."
  325. >"Didn't anypo- anyone help you?"
  326. "For the most part, no. Most would see us be just keep walking. A few offered a some coins but most just kept walking."
  327. >Celestia's face drops
  328. "We washed our hair in drainpipe run off and we wore our clothes until threadbare. But everyday my Dad would make sure I would go to school and everyday he would say 'Just like the Sun, you gotta get up each morning and do what you have to,even if people get in the way. You just gotta keep going.' Well, we did that for 17 years"
  329. >Celestia nodded
  330. "We eventually found a closed up building to make shelter in. It was pretty good to have something to keep the weather off me."
  331. >You are wistful
  332. "That night my Dad said 'I told you son, I told you that if we just kept going things would look up.' I even started to believe him."
  333. >A single tear runs down your cheek
  334. "I came 'home' the next day from school, I had won a scholarship to attend a College in the fall, full ride."
  335. >"Scholarship?"
  336. "Someone else pays for you to go to school."
  337. >She nods
  338. "I was so excited to tell my him. Things were finally looking up."
  339. >you choke back a sob
  340. >you really didn't want to go on
  341. >Celestia saw your trepidation and moved closer
  342. >she rests her neck on your shoulder
  343. >"If you don't want to tell-"
  344. >she begins
  345. "It's almost over now."
  346. >the world became blurry
  347. "My... my dad was stabbed. Someone had taken my dad's life over something so stupid. The only thing they took was his shoes. A life for some shoes! Old, worn shoes!!"
  348. >The memory of your father's still body was more then you could take
  349. >the floodgates opened and you grabbed of the closest place for comfort
  350. >Celestia
  351. >you unabashedly cry into her neck
  352. >"Oh Anon.... I'm so sorry...."
  353. > she just kept repeating those same words over and over
  354. >her wings covered over you, shielding you from the world
  355. >gently, she sits to take you in her fore hooves and rock you back and forward
  356. >"Shhhh.... it's gonna be okay..."
  357. >still you cry
  358. >"Everything will be alright."
  359. >the tears stop but still you look down ashamed
  360. >She sees your face
  361. >"Tears are nothing to be ashamed of Anon."
  362. >"I'll take care of you Anon, you'll stay with me here in the castle."
  363. >you don't want to believe it
  364. >but you know she isn't lying
  365. "I tried going to college, and every night I'd wish to be somewhere else. It wasn't fair. After that I can hardly remember anything."
  366. >your breathing begins to slow and the pain and hurt became little more then a dull throb
  367. >still she holds you close whispering reassurance in your ear
  368. >your whole life you waited for the other side to drop
  369. >everything good thing was trampled by something worse
  370. >everything was all going so well for you now
  371. >you even had a friend
  372. >could you let the pain go?
  373. >did you dare?
  374. >Months had past
  375. >Something had changed in the two of you
  376. >You would join her in the Day Court more often then not
  377. >You were officially her Vizier now
  378. >She would do whatever she could to make you smile
  379. >From things as simple as a walk through the courtyard in the early evening to having the kitchen staff learn to cook your favourite meal
  380. >You grew closer
  381. >your feelings bloomed into something more
  382. >but you hid them
  383. >she was a Goddess
  384. >she was a Princess
  385. >she was a pony
  386. >she was immortal
  387. >the first two were easy enough to get over
  388. >the 18 years of being told that liking anything other then what was considered the norm was took some time but it too eroded soon after you realized your feelings.
  389. >Besides she could walk and talk
  390. >She could think for herself
  391. >the last one gave you pause
  392. >it would be painful to know that one day you would leave her
  393. >but you couldn't deny the way that being with her made you feel
  394. >One afternoon before collecting Celestia for your evening stroll, you had ask the castle staff to bring you a camera...
  395.
  396. **********************************
  397.
  398. >"...Anon...what did you just say?"
  399. >the rush of memories leaves you a little dazed
  400. >"Anon you are looking faint, should I call the doctor?"
  401. "No, I'm alright."
  402. >one thing you learned over your friendship was that use of the word 'fine' was a byword for not being alright
  403. >"Anon...what was it that you had said? About a special somepony?"
  404. >You look into Celestia's eyes
  405. >There's something in them
  406. >is that...hope?
  407. >regardless of what you say the nature of your relationship changes here
  408. "I said there are times when you just need that special somepony by your side."
  409. >"Anon..."
  410. >here was your chance
  411. >you could play out a logic loophole
  412. >you could confess how you feel
  413. >Man this isn't gonna be easy
  414. ***************************************************************************************************************************************
  415. Sad ending
  416. ***************************************************************************************************************************************
  417. >"Anon... are you aware of what you have said?"
  418. >Of course you are
  419. >You knew it wasn't just a Freudian slip
  420. >you did it on purpose
  421. >but you are too much of a coward to say so
  422. "Special somepony? You are the greatest friend I've ever had Celestia."
  423. >your heart breaks at the words as they leave your mouth
  424. >better she never know
  425. >better she not have to grieve so long after you pass away
  426. >better to break a heart once then twice
  427. >A silence passes between you two
  428. >"O..of course Anon, I am happy you consider me as such."
  429. >you swear that the little light of hope died in her eyes
  430. >what have you done
  431.
  432. **************************
  433.
