additional notes on answers

As a cave-dwelling hermit who does not use TikTok out of disgust at the online practices of both Bytedance and the Chinese Communist Party, I do not have any solid ground to stand on regarding TikTok's advantages and disadvantages. My prior knowledge of TikTok as an app and as a cultural hangout is informed by major news outlets, YouTube recaps, testimonies from family and friends (some of whom I have to -- ironically -- teach how to use TikTok, a point I will come back to later) and assorted ramblings from users on Reddit and niche message boards. Thus, I seem to have a negative outlook relative to someone who frequently uses TikTok or makes it an integral part of their online presence, like Dr. Kilimanguru.
