	The garden looks deserted, which is strange; Cal's _usually_ here, taking care of the animals or playing in the dirt or fetching things for the adults. Then you spot a pair of dirt-streaked legs dangling over a piece of equipment, and clamber up beside Cal on the sun-warmed metal.

	Cal's distracted by something in his hands, but he looks up as you sit down. "Oh, hey [Name]!" he greets you. "I didn't hear you, [buddy|dude-ette|dude], sorry."

	"Look at what Tammy gave me!" he says, holding out a weirdly-shaped doll with green, stringy hair and lopsided eyes. "She's the best," he says, proudly. "It's so cool that she can make stuff from what other people think is just garbo junk."

	He lies back against the machine and raises the doll to the sky, letting it block the sunlight from his face. "Tammy's my _best_ friend," he continues. "I know we all grew up together, but like, Tammy's REALLY special, you know?"

	* Yeah, she really is!

		Cal looks pleased. "I'm glad you think so."

	* Isn't she kind of... _dull_?

		Cal frowns. "That's not very nice, [Name]."

	* I don't know her very well

		"Oh!" Cal says, laughing a little. "Yeah, I guess she's kind of shy, if you don't try to get to know her."

		"We used to play together all the time on the Stratospheric. Like, _all_ the time. Man, I remember... one time..."

		Cal squints into the sun and rubs his chin. "Sorry, I was just... before you got here, I was just thinking about how, when we were like four years old, I promised her that we would get married when we were old enough."

		"Anemone teases me about it. She thinks it doesn't count because we were just kids, but I... keep thinking about it, y'know?"

		He looks down at the doll in his hands. It's truly ugly. Maybe that's part of its charm.

		"What do you think, [Name]?"

		** People change.

			Cal sighs.

			"I guess that's true... it's been like eight years. Maybe Tammy's changed her mind... or maybe she doesn't even remember I asked! Plus I don't e know how I feel about it."

			He's quiet for a few seconds, but then he laughs awkwardly and scruffs his hair so it stands up like a dandelion. "Well, the good thing is, we'll be best friends forever... no matter what!"

			Cal smiles, and his cheeks turn a little pink.

			"D-do you think so? Really? That's... aw, man, that's..."

			He looks away from you and strokes his thumb idly over the face of the doll, where the stitching was done with a little more care. It almost looks like Tammy meant the doll to look like Cal... well, if you squint.

			"Thanks, [Name]," Cal says, quietly. "That means a lot. Um, I hope she feels the same way."

			Cal's eyes go wide, and he sits up straighter.

			"Hey! Tammy's still my friend, even if she doesn't want to get married."

			He looks down at the doll and sighs, picking at a thread until it comes loose in his fingers. He blows it off his fingertips into the breeze.

			"I guess... I mean, she is a little... immature," Cal admits. "And _you_ like hoverboards and other cool stuff, which is hype... but Tammy can make really pretty jewelry out of all kinds of things."

			He looks conflicted.

			"Plus she has neat ears..."

		You and Cal spend the rest of the afternoon basking in the warm sunshine and chatting about growing up on the Stratospheric. He gets a little quiet whenever Tammy comes up again, but otherwise it's a perfectly happy day.
