  1. Iavis III -
  2. A mid rim world that sits just off a major hyperspace lane, the Iavis system began civilized life as a mining colony. The story the rough early days of the planet and it's swampy moon have become something of a stock joke to neighboring worlds.Jaseё Diniz, the chief executive of a now long defunct mining corporation, trekked out to the harsh and barren landscape seeking rumors of great swaths of mineral wealth hidden beneath the surface. His head was filled with visions of being a new spice lord, and not with a proper plan to establish the infrastructure needed. The initial expeditions to the surface ended in disaster as large numbers of the workforce and corporate staff succumbed to the harsh climate and hostile wildlife. Those who survived, including the crazed founder Jaseё Diniz, found no spice and little in the way of resources.Petty squabbling among family and the higher executive staff eventually devolved into small territorial skirmishes that marred the planet for the rest of its history.A common name among the nearby systems to bestow upon someone who leaps to action with little consideration for what may happen is a "Din-wit" as a result of this tale.

  4. The Iavis system is home to four major bodies of note. Iavis I is a rocky planet with a hellish atmosphere with violent storms that wards off all but the most daring explorers or people desperate to hide.It orbits the star at a distance nearly identical to Iavis III and sits on the exact opposite side of the star from III. Iavis II is the swampy moon of III, it is known to be sparsely populated and a retreat for the wealthy that want to hunt big game. Iavis IV is a gas giant at the extreme edges of the system, it lacks moons or a ring and it speculated to be an exoplanet captured millions of years ago as it touched the extreme reaches of the star's gravity.

  6. Iavis III was largely defined by these conflicts until roughly 10 years before the start of the clone wars, when a protracted artillery exchange ended up unearthing ores suitable for industrial applications.Businesses began to eye the planet with hungry eyes. The plight of the local population was made known to much of the Republic senate when the Techno Union bargained to requisition the planet for their own needs, there was but a small footnote about how the descendants of the doomed colony were to be unceremoniously ignored or removed if they were to interfere with Techno Union activities. The few senators with a conscience were able to plea to the others to instead have the Republic stage a large relief effort, rather than let corporate interests take priority again, especially in the wake of the Naboo crisis only 3 years prior.

  8. New construction projects swiftly fabricated serviceable homes for much of the populace, bringing them from complete destitution to mere squalor. A new space elevator was erected near the site of the failed first colony, allowing for the distribution of aid and material in a much more efficient manner, that elevator would go on to be the bloodstream of commerce on Iavis III as a whole. A provisional government was established, headed by a local Ithorian named Gromm Seumic. He was chosen because of his connections with all of the major clans that formed from the fractured mining colony, the hope being that he could bring peace. For the most part he was successful, the people of Iavis respected him, and still do right now. The old tensions never truly went away, and conflict still occasionally flares up.Some of the armed fighters having opted to a life of crime when syndicates from across the galaxy got their foot in the door. Life was slowly improving for the locals, before the dark times, before the Empire.

  10. The Clone Wars largely passed the world over outside of one largely obscure incident in the final hours of the war: A recuscant class: the Forecloser and a munnificent class frigate Comparative Advantage had unexpectedly hyperspace jumped into the system and made an immediate beeline for the mountainous polar regions. The Forecloser briefly made planetfall as the Comparative Advantage remained in orbit on sentry duty.A swift response from a Republic taskforce, spearheaded by the Venator-class Stronghold sent the Comparative Advantage fleeing into hyperspace and the Forecloser was crippled before it could take off.A protracted ground war was averted as the shut down command was issued, bringing a formal end to the conflict.

  12. The new order under the freshly crowned Emperor had shifted its gaze away from the Iavis, up to about 6 years ago.New industrial centers were erected and much of the populace was put to work extracting the mineral wealth that the Republic had not exploited. The hours are long and the conditions are brutal. The imperial Navy has stationed itself around the elevator and it now serves the Empire almost exclusively.the military presence on the ground has been slowly expanding. The planet now answers to the Empire in all but the most formal sense, Gromm Seumic is still officially the planetary governor. He still roadblocks the Empire at every turn, using a detailed knowledge of every o0ld obscure code and law he has to slow the Empire's progress.the march of Imperial "progress" has proven inevitable but he fights his fight anyways, hoping that perhaps the most powerful force in the galaxy could be used for good instead.Removing him has proven difficult for the Empire because his presence is one of the few things that keep the overworked population complacent.

  14. Rebel high command has selected Iavis as a point of interest for its strategic location near an established hyperspace lane. It's close enough that ships can navigate in relative safety but the Empire does not patrol spaces nearly as much as they do directly on those lanes. A point where the rebellion could send starships freely would be absolutely invaluable. Additionally, liberating a people under the iron heel of the Empire is always a worthy cause.
