  1. [14:41] * Swept_Wing nods. "I'll get one to you then. I'll have to talk with my superiors first though."
  2. [14:54] * Sketch_Eyes is now known as Snake_Eyes
  3. [14:55] * Snake_Eyes gives Swept_Wing a small nod of the head in acknowledgement and says, "So.. on with the tour, I guess?"
  4. [14:57] * Swept_Wing nods. "Indeed. Next stop is inside the Vertibucks!" He says, trotting around to the back of the one they were next to. An open ramp lead up into a cargo area with seats for up to 25 ponies. Beyond that there was the door into the cockpit.
  5. [15:00] * Snake_Eyes follows along behind Swept_Wing, looking around the inside of the vertibuck the stallion shows her, saying, "Very spacious. Truth be told, this is the first one I've ever seen fully intact," before chuckling a little and adding, "..more than fully, even, in this case."
  6. [15:01] <&Swept_Wing> "Well, we've got 14 more just like this, with more on the way soon. We'll be able to start making our own on a small scale."
  7. [15:05] * Snake_Eyes nods a little and turns back towards Swept_Wing, saying, "Unfortunately we're not big enough to be able to hold any of the fabrication plants in the area that survived the bombs. Large parts we gotta scavenge and more delicate stuff we have to trade for with the Mechanium."
  8. [15:06] * Swept_Wing nods, unlocking the door to the cockpit. "Yeah, NFA controls everything up here." He slides the door open, stepping aside so Snake_Eyes could see in.
  9. [15:08] * Snake_Eyes looks around the cockpit, remarking that it, "Looks a bit different than the sims," before adding with a small chuckle, "But that's to be expected, really."
  10. [15:11] <&Swept_Wing> The cockpit had spots for the pilot and co-pilot behind a bank of avionics, overlooking the windscreen. The controls consisted of a throttle, and a pair of control shafts with spots for a pegasi's wings to go, to control the flight surfaces.
  11. [15:12] <&Swept_Wing> There's also a third seat behind another small bank of panels for the crew chief.
  12. [15:14] * Swept_Wing nods, chuckling. "We don't use sims here. All our practice is done live, with simunition rounds."
  13. [15:17] * Snake_Eyes turns back to Swept_Wing and says with a small nod, "Unfortunately, we don't have that luxury. Enclave, 'Boms and Spire make that too much of a risk for simple training."
  14. [15:18] * Swept_Wing nods. "Main thing to watch out for here is the Spectres, but they normally don't fly much past 1,000 feet."
  15. [15:19] * Snake_Eyes cocks her head a little, asking Swept_Wing, "Spectres?"
  16. [15:21] * Swept_Wing nods. "Spectres, Demons, whatever you call 'em. They're big giant flying mutant-things, that will carry you off and eat you if you're not careful. One or two of them normally don't pose a threat to a group of soldiers or a Vert, but if you get 4 of 'em coming after you, well, you better have a lot of ammo."
  17. [15:24] * Snake_Eyes cants her head in the other direction, before nodding a little, "I think I can imagine how they'd be hard to deal with for a Verts' fixed weapon mounts."
  18. [15:29] <&Swept_Wing> "Well, the gat in the front swivels with the helmet, but yeah, everything else is fixed, though, if you're hovering it's not that big of a deal."
  19. [15:33] * Snake_Eyes nods again and says to Swept_Wing, "Well, still gotta have a pretty narrow traverse due to the 30-mil's sheer size. I'm actually surprised a Vert could deal with the five tons of recoil."
  20. [15:35] * Swept_Wing pats the wall of the Vertibuck. "They couldn't at first, actually, but 20/20 added dampers and improved the recoil absorbtion on them. No pony knows Verts better than he does."
  21. [15:37] * Snake_Eyes nods a little, saying as she takes another look around, "Yeah, you musta done quite an exotic number on these things to make them support non-MEW weapons and even have anywhere close to the performance a regular Vert has."
  22. [15:38] * Swept_Wing chuckles. "Wanna take it for a spin? These Prototype models have an interface that allows them to be flown by non-pegasi.
  23. [15:38] <&Swept_Wing> "*
  24. [15:41] * Snake_Eyes shrugs a little, saying to Swept_Wing with a grin, "Sure, if that can be arranged," before unfolding her two claw arms and adding as she folds them again, "Probably gonna need a once-over of your Take-off-and-Landing procedures."
  25. [15:42] * Swept_Wing nods. "Let me work the ladder and see what I can do. Feel free to poke around the hangar a bit. The other pilots will only kill you if you break something."
  26. [15:45] * Snake_Eyes nods and slowly starts to trot back out of the Vertibuck, asking, "How's the weather conditions today?"
  27. [15:46] <&Swept_Wing> "15% cloud cover and calm winds as of this morning's briefing." He says, trotting out after her.
  28. [15:47] * Snake_Eyes grins and nods a little, saying, "Great conditions, then."
  29. [15:49] * Swept_Wing nods. "Indeed. I'll be back in a minute." He trots off to a nearby door in the wall, which lead into his office. Around Snake_Eyes, about 18 pilots and several ground crew members were milling about, doing various tasks. One of the Verts had its engine completely dismanteled, and being looked over by a pair of orange pegasi and a ghoul.
  30. [15:52] * Snake_Eyes looks about the bustling hall, observing the working ponies as she waits for Swept_Wing to return, giving the Ghoul working there curious glances.
  31. [15:54] <&Swept_Wing> The ghoul was halfway inside the Vert's engine, and was yelling something at the other two pegasi, one who had a black mane scurrying off, while the orange maned one began hoofing the ghoul tools.
  32. [15:57] * Proverb is now known as Qindeo
  33. [15:57] * Snake_Eyes continues to watch the ponies work, passing the time by following their and others' activities with her eye(s).
  34. [16:00] * Swept_Wing comes trotting back out of his office a little while later, nodding to Snake_Eyes. "We've been cleared."
  35. [16:01] * Snake_Eyes grins a little and nods back at Swept_Wing, saying, "Nice," before asking as she looks around, "Pleasurecruise, or a drop-off or something? What with the fuel and whatnot."
  36. [16:03] <&Swept_Wing> "Officialy we're supposed to check on the unusualy high mutant activity in the northeast portion of the city."
  37. [16:04] * Snake_Eyes nods a little in acknowledgement and then says to Swept_Wing, "Lead the way, Swept ..or Sir?" before tapping her chin with a claw and asking, "Do I call you Sir?"
  38. [16:05] * Swept_Wing chuckles. "Swept, Sir, LT, whatever suits your fancy."
  39. [16:07] * Snake_Eyes chuckles a little in response, saying, "Well, technically I'm an NCO, but not in your organization, so I'd say 'Swept' will work fine for now."
  40. [16:11] * Swept_Wing shurgs. "Fine by me. I'm pretty relaxed when it comes to this officer stuff. All I want to do is fly Verts." He chukles, leading Snake_Eyes over towards another one of the Prototype Verts. This one had a '1' painted on the tail, along with the DCR insignia.
  41. [16:13] * Snake_Eyes follows Swept_Wing to the Prototype Vertibuck, saying with a chuckle, "I hear you there, Swept. If I ever knew what my mark was, I'm pretty sure it'd be some kind of flying machine."
  42. [16:14] * Swept_Wing tilts his head at Snake_Eyes. His own mark was a red star with a pair of wings. "You don't know what it was?"
  43. [16:16] * Snake_Eyes shakes her head at Swept_Wing, saying simply, "Nope."
  44. [16:17] * Swept_Wing frowns, trotting up the ramp. "I see. I won't pry into it, not my place." He says, stepping into the cockpit.
  45. [16:20] * Snake_Eyes shrugs a little and sighs softly as she follows Swept_Wing up the ramp, saying, "It's not a huge deal, really. Birth defect and bad luck. Some good luck, too, considering I'm alive," before stepping into the cockpit after him.
  46. [16:25] * Swept_Wing nods, tossing Snake_Eyes a helmet, putting one on himself. "Ahh."
  47. [16:27] * Snake_Eyes catches the helmet with her robotic limbs and a foreleg, before putting it on and strapping it to her head as she adjusts it.
  48. [16:30] * Swept_Wing fiddles with something under the co-pilot's insturment panel, before pulling out a control yolke, folding the wing control shafts back and out of the way. "Go ahead and strap in." he said, doing the same himself.
  49. [16:34] * Snake_Eyes nods and gets herself into position, strapping herself in with the aid of her extra appendages, before checking her field of vision and the instruments available to her, "Alright, a little different, but familiar. Gonna take it slow when I'm clear."
  50. [16:37] * Swept_Wing nods. "I'll take us out." He says, flicking switches. The engines started to rev up with a deep thrum, rotors spinning up to idle with a whine. "Control, this is Steel One, requesting roof open, over."
  51. [16:40] * Snake_Eyes nods a little and waits for Swept_Wing's request to be responded to, looking up to the ceiling as she waits
  52. [16:43] <&Swept_Wing> "Roger Steel One, roof open. Control out." Swept nods, and eases the throttle forward, rotors pitching up into a high whine as he eased the Vert off the floor and upwards through the now-open roof of the hangar, coming to a hover above it. "And we are clear."
  53. [16:46] * Snake_Eyes grows a grin as she sees the clear sky, saying in response to Swept_Wing, "Roger, roger. Is the objective painted?"
  54. [16:47] * Swept_Wing flicks a few more switches. "Should be on your HUD now."
  55. [16:49] * Snake_Eyes responds with another acknowledging, "Roger, getting it now. What's our projected ETA if we take it a bit slower than usual projections?"
  56. [16:51] <&Swept_Wing> "Eh, 5 minutes, normally takes about 2."
  57. [16:51] * Blackout ([email protected]) has joined #DeadCityOps
  58. [16:51] * ChanServ sets mode +qo Blackout Blackout for #DeadCityOps
  59. [16:51] * Snake_Eyes checks her equipment again, before responding, "Copy that. Ready for transfer on your mark."
