  1. Vessel Type-E Unit #1 [Darkness] was, initially, a proof-of-concept designed by Soren J. Aeternum (281) from his studies on the SOUL. It is the first of the Type-E[lement] line of units, though was not the last. There are 4 other types, Type-R[evival], Type-W[arrior], Type-S[upport] and Type-J[ack]. Regarding the Vessel line as a whole, they are proof-of-concept designs that, as a result of the Human-Monster War resuming in most of the timelines Soren has visited, were rediscovered (after they were thought to have been destroyed and lost along with the rest of Soren's research) and built in order to serve as help for the Humans against the Monsters' Magic. The purpose of a Vessel Unit was simple: Act as a 2nd 'Vessel' for a SOUL that has lost it's body. These units possessed the ability to integrate SOULs into their structure then reconfigure themselves to recreate the body of the absorbed SOUL, including any and all biological organs. However, until the Type-J onwards, they were each limited to a certain extent when they did not have a SOUL within them: The Type-R only capable of following programmed orders then immediately absorb the SOUL upon death, The Type-W able to fight enemies when programmed with attack patterns but only those attack patterns (and later was realized to lack the Type-R's function), the Type-S had both the Type-W's and Type-J's functions though were moderately limited compared to either model. and the Type-J was built to be compatible with Artificial Intelligence (allowing it to surpass it's predecessors in function). The Type-E was made to be the ultimate Vessel model: It possessed the ability to conduct Magic, which none of the other Types could replicate regardless of the nature of the SOUL integrated into it. In order to test the design, the United Nations (which lead the assault against Monsterkind) built Unit #1. Unlike the intended result, it was capable of replicating magic but all of it's magic, regardless of the true nature of it, only possessed the properties of the magic while it's constitution was that of Darkness (This was later realized to be the result of a guerrilla tactic from the Human-Monster Alliance who sabotaged the design by incorporated a monster's magic into the core of the Type-E Unit). Afterwards, the Type-E Unit was stolen by an unknown perpetrator. He then erased all of the UN's programming on it and gave it a free will A.I. along with common sense, a multitude of languages and dialects from before the war, and encoded a message onto it's memory banks. Utilizing experimental Time Travel Technology (Experimental enough that the unknown perpetrator decided to hook up a remote switch and activate it outside of the facility it was housed in), he sent the Unit #1 to (what was supposed to be) the future of their timeline, though the machine did not work as intended, sending it to an alternate timeline (the current one) and about a decade earlier. It now sets off to do whatever it wants to do...
