- <ThirdEyeLem> Oh hey Dunder
- <ThirdEyeLem> Right right, Elsie wanted to do a session tonight
- <DunderFuchs> Cool :3
- <ThirdEyeLem> Well, "session"
- <ThirdEyeLem> I dunno what's going on
- <DunderFuchs> prolly just discuss the game mechanical stuff
- <ThirdEyeLem> Yeah. I think Bulb's up for using BESM
- <ThirdEyeLem> Also, if you're watching while we're doing any of these sessions, feel free to give me any feedback on how you feel about Poppy as a player character
- <DunderFuchs> Oh you do great with her :P
- <ThirdEyeLem> Really? Anything I can do to improve how to RP her?
- <DunderFuchs> Nothing I could say, I don't really look for that sorta stuff though.
- <ThirdEyeLem> Oh, ok. Just thought I'd get some outside impressions.

- <DunderFuchs> Hai balb
- <Bulbasaurus> Hiii
- <DunderFuchs> :3
- <Bulbasaurus> COmpletely forgot to be here once i got home
- <DunderFuchs> It's all fine
- <ThirdEyeLem> Oh hey you're here :O
- <ThirdEyeLem> Hai Bulb
- <Bulbasaurus> Hey
- <Bulbasaurus> So as I understand neither of you has looked mucha t besm, and I knwo lable didn't
- <ThirdEyeLem> ...
- <ThirdEyeLem> Oh D:
- <ThirdEyeLem> Sorry ;n;
- <Bulbasaurus> Unfortunately due to life and work I haven't done much with it for the last couple weeks either, so it's fine
- <ThirdEyeLem> ... XP
- <Bulbasaurus> It's looking like the 300-350 tier is where I want to try it out
- <Bulbasaurus> I know that much already
- <ThirdEyeLem> That's the...Which tier?
- <DunderFuchs> Well since it's so similar to GURPs I think I understand the system and its concepts.
- <Bulbasaurus> Some characters may be given higher/lower as we already said
- <DunderFuchs> That's the points we use to create our characters
- <Bulbasaurus> Yeah
- <DunderFuchs> I assume
- <Bulbasaurus> I did some toying around and I discovered companions, wille pretty op, are not as super op as I thought
- <DunderFuchs> It's not like most D20 games where you choose a "class" and assign "levels" to them and then pick whatever abilities you can by looking at a chart
- <Bulbasaurus> Yeah, with besm it REALLY helps to have a general idea of what you want a character to do
- <Bulbasaurus> Otherwise, GOODBYE FOUR HOURS
- <ThirdEyeLem> XD
- <ThirdEyeLem> Yesh
- <Bulbasaurus> But once you understand the basics of the powers, it goes much faster
- <Bulbasaurus> And a lot are self-explanatory, like flying or telekinesis
- <Bulbasaurus> Rank 1 in Extra Arms covers prehensile tails
- <Bulbasaurus> So, for the purpose of making things simpler
- <Bulbasaurus> I have gotten rid of the distinction between Major and Minor elements for the time being, grouped them all into either Light or Dark elements
- <ThirdEyeLem> I kinda wondered about that myself, what makes them major or minor, light or dark?
- <Bulbasaurus> The main ones were familiar with, fire water earth wind lightning ice magma metal, Light Elements
- <Bulbasaurus> Universal Red Power determines it
- <Bulbasaurus> The way Green and Red interact creates the Elements
- <Bulbasaurus> And Green gets to use them from that point onwards
- <Bulbasaurus> But anyway
- <Bulbasaurus> Still setting up the rest of the Dark Elements
- <Bulbasaurus> Basically
- <Bulbasaurus> In every major World, representations of each power exist. A World may be more or less generally, say, one color, but the others play into how they operate
- <Bulbasaurus> For example, Windcrest itself is a Yellow World, but the powers of the species are determined by the four Cardinal Elements, which are from Green
- <Bulbasaurus> But anyway I'm getting ahead of myself
- <ThirdEyeLem> Thanks for the enlightenment anyways :3
- <Bulbasaurus> What I want done first is setting up basic powers for the races
- <Bulbasaurus> Lem if you still want Poppy as a pony that's fine, I really don't care
- <Bulbasaurus> COnsidering Eo's canonically been a vee and I don't plan on changing that
- <ThirdEyeLem> :V I still intend her to be a unicorn, yeah. Unless we're going to do the retcon thing like you wanted to ages ago
- <Bulbasaurus> I think what I could do to make it really easy is do how FFTA does it
- <ThirdEyeLem> Hmm?
- <Bulbasaurus> Where you're playing as another race, i.e. Ritz uses Vierra classes
- <ThirdEyeLem> Oh right
- * DunderFuchs mumbles something about Purple.
- <Bulbasaurus> It would make sense in Windcrest terms
- <ThirdEyeLem> Yeah, race-exclusive classes would be neat
- <Bulbasaurus> Hmmm so yeah about that
- <Bulbasaurus> How do you want to do classes? Like DUnder said, besm isn't exactly
- <ThirdEyeLem> Makes each character more specialized, like how the Nu Mou were almost always magical, Bangaa are almost physical
- <Bulbasaurus> I don't want to say it isn't class-friendly, but
- <Bulbasaurus> We'd have to do it ourselves xP
- <DunderFuchs> Classes don't exist, unless I am mistaken.
- <Bulbasaurus> Maybe where each ooooohhhhhhhh
- <Bulbasaurus> Oh I got it
- <ThirdEyeLem> Well, that's fine, making a "class" system isn't too hard--hmm?
- <Bulbasaurus> We divide points between classes and characters
- <DunderFuchs> Do we really need classes?
- <DunderFuchs> One thing I always disliked about D20 were classes :p
- <DunderFuchs> Seems unnecessary.
- <Bulbasaurus> Well our idea is FFTA/FF5 style
- <DunderFuchs> In a system like BESM anyway
- <DunderFuchs> ah.
- <Bulbasaurus> But, I'm always willing to discuss things
- <Bulbasaurus> It's true making classes would mean a lot of extra work
- <ThirdEyeLem> Well, Poppy was always seen as a spellcaster, she doesn't have the bulk for a physical class, but she can build up her speed if she wants to
- <DunderFuchs> They really add absolutely nothing except make the system less flexible because you have to pidgeon-hole characters into preset definitions.
- <ThirdEyeLem> I'm fine either way, but...I kinda agree with Dunder, do we actually need classes?
- <Bulbasaurus> I think the hardest part honestly would be setting limitations for the classes
- <ThirdEyeLem> We eventually kinda purged the class system early on in WC, didn't we?
- <Bulbasaurus> I really have no idea. I've honestly been holding onto classes so hard because it's something I'm used to. But now, classes seem more of a "title" thing at this point
- <ThirdEyeLem> Yeah
- <DunderFuchs> Well we can keep the titles
- <DunderFuchs> but don't need it to be reflected in the game mechanics
- <Bulbasaurus> It's not something I'm dead-set on keeping. I just kinda thought that's how it was supposed to work:V
- <ThirdEyeLem> And I remember because Selene (or whomever) said straight up "we're abolishing the class system right now" way back when we were working with an original system
- <DunderFuchs> Well here's what you could do
- <ThirdEyeLem> I can dig up the line if you want :V
- <Bulbasaurus> I would like to give the class idea a run, but that isn't a pressing matter.
- <Bulbasaurus> omg no I recall this
- <Bulbasaurus> I believe she said SHE was abolishing it, k so that's WoG
- <ThirdEyeLem> WoG?
- <DunderFuchs> Bulb I have a good idea for this, it's simple and it'd work to make a class feel without being restrictive
- <ThirdEyeLem> Oh
- <ThirdEyeLem> Ohhh
- <Bulbasaurus> Okay. So, no classes. How do we set character constraints, or dowe even want them
- <Bulbasaurus> Oh?
- <ThirdEyeLem> Lemme hear what Dunder has to say
- <Bulbasaurus> Yes
- <DunderFuchs> You could set up "templates" which are just a set of traits and abilities. Like say they have some mage casting abilities that cost a certain amount of points, as are in the rules. And you have some stats. And you just add up the point total of all this, and say this template is worth this amount of points. Any character can easily apply that template to their character. It makes it easier to create characters quickly, beca
- <DunderFuchs> So you have a set of stats and abilities that total up to being worth 100 points
- <DunderFuchs> and a character can just take that, and they have all those and it costs 100 points to take the template
- <DunderFuchs> simple.
- <DunderFuchs> And the rest of their points they use to add whatever else on their character they want.
- <DunderFuchs> If you understand what I mean.
- <ThirdEyeLem> Hmmm. I was thinking of something like that (in the lines of Disgaea 5's Subclass thing, they add stats and abilities but they don't distract from the character's main strengths
