  1. ==========Writing Prompt==========
  2. This, but with bigpones.
  3. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BIql1ZpHovs
  4. ------------------------------
  5. >Unfortunately, it ignores the bait and foregoes the bouquet of flowers for your camera post's metallic sheen
  6. >The pony slowly encroaches, its shadow ever larger
  7. >It approached warily, stopping every few steps
  8. >The short distance was eaten up in a couple of minutes
  9. >The head was close, sniffing the air under the din of such a heavy weight crunching snow.
  10. >Thick winter coat nudged the plexiglas as its nose led it to a small gap in your enclosure
  11. >Huge nostrils steal some of the air in your fort with massive lungs
  12. >The pony's eyes look up from the crack to stare straight at you
  13. >This specimen is large enough, even when lowered, to be level with you
  14. >You have its interest as it turns its head this way and that and starts to circle your case
  15. >The observer is now being observed, like an animal in a cage
  16. >So close and so large is the creature that the glass becomes fogged in one place when she lingers, obscuring the view safe for the piercingly bright colors of the creature
  17. >A tongue runs along the exterior of the glass box to wipe away the condensation
  18. >The structure's frame itself wobbles and the joints try to flex under the bolts and hinges at the touch
  19. >A giant hoof dangerously reaches out towards your rickety plastic and metal shack.
  20. >It touches with a light thump, jostling the structure but not pressing any further
  21. >It lingers and you slowly bring up your own hand to touch the inside of the glass in the same spot
  22. >Even the frog of the hoof is so much bigger than the palm of your hand and you find yourself gawking
  23. >The hoof moved slightly as the pony leaned to see around its forelimb
  24. >It noticed where your hand was planted and you were blasted with light
  25. >When you blinked away the glare, you were looking at a crystal pony, reflecting and shining in the light
  26. >Incredibly rare, yet you have piqued this one's interest
  27. >What will happen when you need to leave?
  28. >You turn away from your journal to the massive eye looming just outside the glass
  29. >You don't know
  30. >The specimen carefully guided its hoof to a different side of the box and again let it linger
  31. >Under its watch, you slowly pushed your hand to the glass, positioned on the same spot the frog of the hoof was
  32. >A humanlike smile was etched across the pony's face
  33. >After you removed your hand it slumped onto its belly
  34. >The crystalline colors softly radiated over the snow as its body acted like a prism to scatter and distort the sun's rays
  35. >It pushed both forehooves on either side of the box this time, slapping against the plexiglas gently but hard enough to buckle the structure and briefly send a shiver of fear down your spine
  36. >The crushing force never came
  37. >Instead it watched passively to see what you would do, breath fogging in the cold air
  38. >You recover and hold up your hands
  39. >The pony's ears flick forward attentively and her lips part in wonder
  40. >You again matched hand for hoof and the pony lit up a little brighter
  41. >The game proceeded for some time until you realized this would be prime for some footage
  42. >You ready your camera and the pony leans closer to decipher what you are doing
  43. >It sniffs but fails to glean anything useful
  44. >It sits still, watching you, its bright crystalline form beginning to dull with a slow loss of entertainment
  45. >This is not the footage you wanted
  46. >You put down your camera and start to shuffle through your gear when you hear it moving around outside
  47. >You are greeted with it sitting on its haunches and holding up a huge clump of snow in its forehooves like it was your camera
  48. >You snatch up your camera and train it on the pony
  49. >The wad of snow is back on the ground as part of the endless snow drifts of the arctic
  50. >The pony blinks at you, a hint of a smile in its eyes
  51. >You put the camera down
  52. >It picks up snow in front of its face and stares at you with one eye from around the clump, the other looking into it like it was recording
  53. >You are quick to draw the camera to the ready but not fast enough
  54. >You try to trick the pony
  55. >You set the camera down on a box next to you
  56. >It is left on and facing the pony
  57. >It sits there
  58. >Doing nothing
  59. >The crystal body remains, a notice that somehow, the pony is still entertained
  60. >You hold a hand to one side of the box and the pony watches without much reaction
  61. >Whatever, this is still a rare encounter you can use
  62. >You keep the camera rolling and begin to talk about the amazing specimen
  63. >It is a rare sight to see one stay crystalized for so long and the display as it gets up and start to move away is dazzling
  64. >The sheer proximity is a treat to see something so large with such grace
  65. "Truly a beautiful creature and it is a special privilege to get to see it up close"
  66. >The pony finishes its last step and it pauses
  67. >Its ears flick back and its tail flicks
  68. >Its head tilts just enough for you to see a red glow on its cheeks before it walks into the distance
  69. >You wait another hour for a pony to show up but the snowy lands remain unchanged
  70. >You go out to retrieve your bait
  71. >You approach the flowers when a snow bank explodes
  72. >The pony is there, shining brightly in the afternoon sunlight
  73. >It regards you in silence and you try not to panic
  74. >You slowly twist just enough to see the glass enclosure behind you
  75. >Way too far away
  76. >The pony walks around you slowly, never taking its eyes off of you for more than a second
  77. >It reaches the bait bouquet of flowers
  78. >Slowly, it cranes its neck down and scoops them up
  79. >It chews thoughtfully and moves forward, staring intently at you
  80. >You activate the most time-honored and ancient wild animal photographer defense technique
  81. >You flop back into the snow and try not to move, keeping your eyes tightly shut
  82. >Playing dead does not seem to work this time
  83. >You hear the loud crunch of giant hooves sinking into the snow
  84. >The pony approaches and there is a loud thump beside you
  85. >You jump at the noise and open your eyes
  86. >The pony is also on its back in the snow, its own eyes less than dozen feet away.
  87. >You can see through the shimmering crystal body to the snow hills behind it
  88. >The two of you are still for a time before you look longingly to your shelter
  89. >The camera inside is facing an entirely different direction
  90. >You must go to get your camera, or at least your backup
  91. >You slowly get up, watching your companion for any sudden movement
  92. >It just blinks
  93. >You're on your third step when the ground rumbles
  94. >The pony is up on its hooves but otherwise does nothing in particular
  95. >You are followed back to your little shelter
  96. >When you pick up your camera and point it at the pony the creature stiffens up
  97. >You are treated to awkward silence as it stands there
  98. >You put down your video camera and the crystal pony leans back and lounges dramatically
  99. >A perfect pose
  100. >It looks at you holding the photographer's camera
  101. >No video on this one
  102. >The pony seems to be mulling something over, but maintains its pose
  103. >The loud snap of the camera shutter breaks the quiet and the pony shifts into a new position
  104. >It does this a couple more times when you try to switch back to your video
  105. >The noisy crunch of snow startles your hands into dropping the camera
  106. >You look up as your shelter becomes tinged with crystal color
  107. >It seems to smile at your empty, camera-less hands
  108. >The pony leans down and puckers its lips in a kiss on the roof of your ramshackle shack
  109. >It stares at you directly as your jaw hangs open
  110. >"They'll never believe you"
  111. >When you bring your video camera to the ready it is already walking away
  112. >Just before it vanishes behind a massive mound of snow, one of its eyes winks playfully
  113. >You did not see it again, even after waiting for over an hour
  114. >You eventually packed up and headed back
  115. >When you got back to camp the weather had eroded the lip mark off of the glass
  116. >You eagerly review the pictures and footage
  117. >"These are incredible, Anonymous"
  118. >The compliments continue until the very last few seconds
  119. >Everyone remains convinced there was something in its eye but you know the pony in the snow is out there waiting for you somewhere
