- 1. Download Game ISO
- 2. Mount ISO using Windows Explorer/Daemon/etc
- 3. Create a local folder (ie E:/Games/SonicSH)
- 4. Copy all contents of CD into local folder
- 5. Navigate to local folder (SonicSH) and into SONIC dir.
- 6. Create a new directory called "Windows"
- 7. Copy SONICSH.INI from SONIC folder to "Windows"
- 8. Get latest DxWnd release from sourceforge
- 9. Import attached dxw config file into DxWnd
- 10. Change Path option to point to the SONIC executable (ie. E:\Games\SonicSH\SONIC\SONIC.EXE)
- 11. Install MIDIMapper and select "Open Configurator" at the end of installation.
- 12. Select Default MIDI device as "Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth"
- 13. Click Apply and OK
- 14. Run Game via DxWnd
- OPTIONAL:
- To enable video playback, create a registry file (ie. sonic.reg) with the following contents and run it (or create the string key manually in regedit)

- Known Limitations:
- - Game UI will appear skewed if placed anywhere besides 0,0 on desktop
- - This method might be slower than running without sound. To disable sound, remove SOS9503.dll from SONIC folder
- - In schoolbus, everything besides of video frame and menu buttons turn black
