Change of Pace

It shouldn't be that surprising that anyone who has been watching my streams much lately knows my mood has been pretty low. I've reached a point where I'm so desperate to get a 2:10 in 1FM Beginner Any% that I'm just not enjoying it anymore. It feels foolish to make this choice considering how close I am (literally 8 seconds away) to hitting my goal, but I just can't find myself liking this category as of right now. I've made the choice to leave Beginner Mode (for the time being) so I can reset my mentality. I'll most likely be back to it sometime before KH3 comes out. The pressure of constantly having to hit difficult tricks and strats in the category itself, with how optimized its getting, is destroying my mind. I shouldn't force myself to do something I'm just not enjoying, because at the end of the day, nobody will be happy about it. Not sure when Beginner Any% will return, but don't expect it again for at least several weeks.

So where do I go with this now? Here is my short term plan:

I'm taking a few days break from speedrunning 1FM, but I still plan to play it primarily. The next few streams I will do are going to be more casual. My plan for now is to take the time to get Ultima Weapon at level 1 in 1FM on PS4 (still haven't done this after 18 months). To follow that, those of you who have been around a good bit as well also know I have two platinum Trophy Runs of 1FM to do in October (since I didn't do one in September). I've decided the date for the first run of the month will be on the 14th of October (no ideal time of day, probably sometime in the afternoon). The second run of the month will happen around Halloween, more detail on that in a few weeks. Those are the notable things to come very soon.

My long term plan is to move on to Level 1 categories of 1FM and slowly build up tolerance again to Beginner any%. I'm most likely starting with level 1 Jiminy's Journal 100% since that's the main category in 1FM I've done almost nothing with so far. After JJ 100% I'll probably go to level 1 any% and then back to beginner any%. I said I wanted to improve my All Worlds times in both Beginner and Level 1, but after thinking about it I just don't enjoy the categories that much. A large majority of the increased length is due to 100 Acre Wood strictly, and I just don't find it that particularly fun sounding. It might just be my bias of JJ 100% being my favorite category in KH1 (where you do a lot more besides 100AW), but I can't say I'm interested in All Worlds at this time.

There are a few events coming up such as my Birthday and Halloween in the next few weeks, so maybe there are a few special things I'll stream that I haven't brought up (or it could just be the same streams I've been doing, don't know yet).

I've been pretty disappointed with the streams I've been turning out recently, so I'm hoping that this decision will change that. I was hoping that burnout wouldn't happen so quickly, but I should have learned from the first time this happened. I mostly blame myself because if I opted for something else in between the grind of Beginner Any%, I probably would have been fine. I'll make sure the next time I run Beginner Any%, it isn't the sole thing that I focus on otherwise I'll go crazy again.
