- Spirit World Mall. Bright, metropolitan, futuristic. For a solid few miles around at night, the colors of the noble gasses in their neon lights lit up the earth and sky like a spaceship had crashed to Earth. A monument to the glory of capital. Not even the recent investigations into the mall potentially polluting the surrounding environment with synthetic chemicals had halted their constant stream of visitors. The investigation didn't turn up much anyways- no chemicals were found. The only evidence (and the original smoking gun of the investigation) was found in the local wildlife. It started with frogs with too many (or too few) eyes and limbs, and quickly moved upwards in intensity. Birds with plumages unfound in nature, wild hogs that drooled purple and fluorescent red, monkeys with organs and heads in places they really shouldn't. The mall was cleared, but the wildlife kept changing.
- Wildlife like a bird held in the hand of a shadowy figure, cooped up in the branches of a tall tree. They were backlighted by the artificial light of the mall only a solid half-mile away. A mechanical arm extended from the figure's chest, pointing right at the avian captive; the palm glowing a sickly green.
- "C'mon, c'mon..." The figure mumbled. "This time my 「Helpless Automaton」 will get it right... it'll be so, SO cool...!"
- The glow bathed the creature as its form twisted and shifted. It let out a weak squawk as its feathers ruffled, shifting from the original brown to blue, green, red, purple...
- Before it bit suddenly bit the hand of its captor, falling to the earth and scuttling off with a few more limbs and colors then it came in with.
- "Fuck! Damnit!" Down Under cursed. "Ugh... I hate it when they get bitey."
