  1. SHORT GUIDE:
  2. ============
  3.
  4. NOTICE: THIS IS A VERY SHORT 'HOWTO'.
  5. ALL INFO HERE IS MY OPNINION AND EXPERIENCE.
  6. NOT STATING THAT THIS IS THE 'BEST AND SAFEST' METHOD.
  7.
  8. Two things explained in this Howto.
  9. - Anonymous browsing
  10. - Secure communications
  11.
  12.
  13.
  14. ANONYMOUS BROWSING:
  15. -------------------
  16. TOR is an anonymous browser that will hide your location.
  17. Every session has like three 'switch-points'.
  18. For example: London --> New York --> Munchen
  19. So every time you will have a different IP adress and location.
  20.
  21. Download TOR here: https://www.torproject.org/download/download.html.en
  22.
  23. Just install and use, very simple.
  24.
  25. More documentation here: https://www.torproject.org/docs/documentation.html.en
  26.
  27.
  28. For extra security a so-called VPN can be used.
  29. Mant VPN's available, difficult to figure out which one is "best".
  30. Paid VPN doesn't mean safer!!!
  31.
  32. I use OpenVPN and use it on PC and on Mobile (Android).
  33.
  34. Download OpenVPN (Secure Tunnel) here: https://www.privatetunnel.com/index.php?referral=S5QAC0EE5G
  35. More documentation here: https://www.privatetunnel.com/index.php/support.html
  36.
  37.
  38. Option one: Just use TOR
  39. Option two: Start VPN, then use TOR
  40.
  41.
  42.
  43.
  44. SECURE COMMUNICATION:
  45. ---------------------
  46. Several options available.
  47.
  48. Quickest and easiest way: https://www.chatcrypt.com/ (set room, name and password --> give this to other person)
  49.
  50. More complicated but effective: Use the Cryptocat plugin for Chrome browser
  51.
  52. Best and ultimate method: Use Pidgin with OTR plugin
  53.
  54. Download Pidgin here: https://pidgin.im/ (save as, don't execute yet)
  55. Download OTR plugin here: https://otr.cypherpunks.ca/ (save as, don't execute yet)
  56.
  57. Install Pidgin
  58.
  59. Install OTR plugin
  60.
  61. Start Pidgin;
  62. - For protocol, choose: XMPP (Jabber)
  63. - For username: Choose whatever U want
  64. - For Domain: type --> dukgo.com
  65. - For password: Choose whatever U want
  66. - Check "Save this password"
  67. - Check "Create this new user"
  68.
  69. * Go to "Tools" --> "Plugins" and check "OTR Plugin"
  70.
  71. More documentation here: https://developer.pidgin.im/wiki/Using%20Pidgin
  72.
  73. Good things about Pidgin:
  74. - Very secure and encrypted
  75. - You will be notified if other person is logging (which can be bad)
  76. - Multiple accounts (identities) possible
  77. - Possibility to truly verify other person via different methods
  78. - If needed, Pidgn can run via TOR which increases anonymity (a bit complicated)
  79. - Multiple accounts, multiple groups, chatrooms etc.
  80.
  81. Have fun & Stay safe/secure
