	This is end for "Kaibutsu Oujo."  Here's an interview with Mr. Mitsunaga
	right after he finished writing the draft for the last chapter,
	as he looks back on this long serialization! He talks about the
	hard work he put in, changes in art and writing, his favorite characters
	and the bonus included with the final volume, so please read on!!

	Mr. Mitsunaga, thank you for you hard work! How do you feel now after the finale,
	after all of these years?
Mr. Mitsunaga ("M" from now on):
	I just finished the draft for the last chapter, but it still doesn't feel real.
	It might be because "Nakua-den" is still running. However, when I think about how
	nothing will happen to Hime and the others unless I write about them, I feel like
	I've left behind something important.

E:	Hime's last line harkens back to chapter 1, so it was quite emotional.
	Did you think up of this before?
M:	Of course I planned it, but the finale before the final scene turned out differently
	than I had planned. It was supposed to be more desperate: Hime dies from blood loss,
	and Hiro drinks Hime's last drops of blood before taking down the last boss in
	anger... Then, when he returns to Hime, she's gone. Back when this series just began,
	I was only thinking about his story as a blood warrior. I had set things up to go
	in that direction too. By the way, the color spread in this chapter depicts a scene
	from chapter 1. I like to use refrains, even when writing the short stories in this manga.
	I think that should be where writers start with stories.

E:	What do you remember about writing these 88 chapters (ch 1-87 + Darkness Princess)
	in these last 8 years?
M:	I hear that "88" is a good number to the Chinese. 8 also looks like infinity too.
	Anyway, when I was still a rookie, I remember I was asked by an editor about what
	kind of manga artist I want to be in the future, and I said that I want to be the
	author of a stable, long-running series that I can make a living off of. The editor
	said that my answer was rather uncommon. A mere eight years still not enough.
	When other manga artists say "you can probably draw for ten years if you want to,"
	I reply "of course I can." By the way, I've never hated writing and drawing "Kaibutsu Oujo."
	I've never grown tired. I never ran out of motivation. If I didn't have a writer's block,
	then I'd finish my name (first draft) in a few days.

Quote:	I should destroy that as soon as possible (lol)

E:	What was the toughest part that you've written?
M:	I think that it was all tough, but I also think that it all didn't take that much time.
	When I draw my drafts, I never think about how long it will take to actually draw
	the real thing later on. I completely forget abpout it. So when I actually draw it,
	I often shake my head and think, "how the hell will I ever draw this complex scene,"
	but I always get it done somehow.

	Speaking of which, the chapter where the giant robot Flanders showed up was quite tough.
	Flanders was already quite complicated. I remember thinking to myself, "I should destroy
	this as soon as possible."

E:	What were you obsessed with when you were drawing "Kaibutsu Oujo"?
M:	I wanted to use as much black as possible. I wanted to draw in a way that causes unease
	and amplifies the horror atmosphere. I changed my art style a lot for that. My first editor
	told me to try to imitate the style of Tim Burton's movies, so that's what I do.

Quote:	Who was your favorite character?

E:	Please tell us about your growth as an author and an artist throughout these eight years.
M:	People have told me that my art has changed, but I think that I just started out
	as a bad arist and got better through trial and error. I couldn't draw girls at all, so
	it was reckless of me to start out by drawing a manga about a princess. When I was young,
	I always drew guys and motorcycles... I exceled with backgrounds.

E:	Who was your favorite character from "Kaibutsu Oujo"?
M:	Everyone. Everyone always say that I must like Riza, and that's true. I kinda wanted to
	dig deeper into Riza and Reiri. For example, before certain battles, Riza would always say
	the name of his father because she's a werewolf. If she runs away from a battle, then
	that would mean that she's hurting her father's reputation as well as hers. That's why
	she can't run away if she has given her father's name. However, I didn't have a chance
	to write that into the stories. There's tons of stuff like this that I didn't get to use.

E:	Which character do you think changed the most throughout the series?
M:	Hiro. Together with Hiro, I explored what it meant to protected a girl that he liked.
	The next character would be Nakua. I think she ended up shorter than she was at first...

E:	Please tell us your favorite scenes, panels, and lines.
M:	I'm the type who likes to construct things from the bigger picture, so I like it when
	scenes and lines work well. There are lots scenes where Hime doesn't say anything,
	and I like quite a few of them.

E:	By the way, how do you think Hime and the others will live now that the battle for
	the throne is over?
M:	I don't think that they'll just live quietly. There's no way that the royalty still don't know
	about Hiro, and Riza may still have problems with the werewolf world. I haven't thought about
	it that much, though. And there's the still the problem of the two Flandres.

E:	Tell us more about the mini-artbook that's coming with the limited edition of the
	final volume of Kaibutsu Oujo!
M:	It's a full explanation of the stories, written by me. "Kaibutsu Oujo" is really just a
	collection of short stories. I felt that a full explanation fit the series more than
	a sequel. I thought that I had a duty to explain things (even though there's no such duty).
	I thought that it wouldn't hurt to include it into the limited edition.

E:	Please give a final message to the readers!
M:	Thank you so much for sticking with this manga for so long. It's a honor to me to bring
	this series to an end with a magazine cover and a color spread. "Kaibutsu Oujo" also allowed
	me to experience many things, such as getting a work adapted into anime. I'm grateful to
	all of those who supported "Kaibutsu Oujo" and made all of that possible. "Nakua-den" will
	still be running, so please continue reading that too.
