  1. rev5.5 Last updated 2017/09/21
  2.
  3. ==== READ THIS FIRST ====
  4.
  5. Check current thread! It is quite possible this will be out-of-date.
  6.
  7. I try to keep this updated and accurate, but take no responsibility if anything
  8. goes wrong from using the information in this paste.
  9.
  10. Do NOT update your Vita/PSTV past 3.60 if you want to use hacks! Anything past
  11. that has almost nothing (see section) and there is no downgrade method. However
  12. on 3.60 there are some other restrictions:
  13. - Games requiring 3.61+ cannot be played. Affected games show an update nag, or
  14. if HENkaku is active, a C1-6703-6 error. Roughly speaking this affects games
  15. released October 2016 or later and different regions are counted separately.
  16. - PSN access may be limited or broken. At time of writing you can play online,
  17. but you cannot download games from PSN (E-80558325 error) even through a PS3.
  18. You cannot do system activation either.
  19.
  20. If your system is older than 3.60 use this guide to update it to 3.60. Do NOT
  21. use the regular method it takes you to latest!
  22.
  23. https://henkaku.xyz/usage/
  24.
  25. To avoid unwanted updates, keep it in flight mode where possible, make sure any
  26. Internet connections have DNS set to 212.47.229.76, turn off automatic update
  27. downloading (settings->system->auto-start settings), and make sure to choose no
  28. if an update nag appears. Be careful about letting other people play on it.
  29.
  30. If buying for hacks, any _new_ Western ones are guaranteed to be hackable. New
  31. Japanese ones are riskier, and the red or silver ones are always 3.61+. Used
  32. systems are very unlikely to be unless stated otherwise.
  33.
  34. TODO: Are all new PSTVs safe?
  35.
  36. ==== HENKAKU ====
  37.
  38. This is what allows everything else to work. To set it up, make sure you're on
  39. 3.60 (if not, see further up), open up your browser, and go to the following
  40. site.
  41.
  42. http://go.henkaku.xyz/
  43.
  44. The hack persists until you power it off. For a more permanent setup, install
  45. HENkaku Enso, then it automatically installs on power on.
  46.
  47. https://enso.henkaku.xyz/
  48.
  49. ==== CONFIGURING HENKAKU ====
  50.
  51. As of version 9, configuration is done in the official settings app instead of
  52. in molecularShell. Most important is the unsafe homebrew toggle, required to be
  53. enabled for some utilities. Also version spoofing for PSN (version should be
  54. 3.65 as of time of writing).
  55.
  56. ==== SD2VITA ====
  57.
  58. This allows you to use regular SD cards with your Vita, at the expense of using
  59. the cartridge slot. HENkaku is required, and this assumes you've installed Enso
  60. as well.
  61.

  70. ==== USB STORAGE ON PSTV ====
  71.
  72. TODO: Document. It's likely different.
  73.
  74. ==== UTILITIES ====
  75.
  76. molecularShell comes with HENkaku, it's a basic file browser, VPK installer and
  77. FTP server.
  78.
  79. MaiDumpTool (Vita pirating), Adrenaline (PSP/PSX pirating) and CTManager
  80. (custom themes) have their own section. Other homebrew:
  81.
  82. - VitaShell
  83. https://github.com/TheOfficialFloW/VitaShell/releases
  84. Just an improved molecularShell, notably allows you to access the SD card via
  85. USB. Recommended to use instead. Requires unsafe homebrew for some functions.
  86.
  87. - RetroArch
  88. http://buildbot.libretro.com/nightly/playstation/vita/
  89. GO AWAY SQUAREPUSHER but in all seriousness it's the best emulator on Vita.
  90. Install the full VPK instead of individual cores. Don't expect all of them to
  91. perform well though.
  92.
  93. - vitaQuake
  94. http://rinnegatamante.it/site/psv_hbs.php
  95. It's Quake. What more to say? Supports the expansions, mods, and multiplayer.
  96. Some framerate issues for now. Mod selector only in the 2.0 version for some
  97. reason.
  98.
  99. - Another Metroid 2 Remake
  100. https://nicoblog.org/psvita/another-metroid-2-remake-return-of-samus-region-free-vitamin-2-0-ps-vita-vpk/
  101. https://my.mixtape.moe/whtatk.vpk (alt download link)
  102. The fan remake of Metroid II Return of Samus. Absolutely heretical.
  103.
  104. TODO: Needs more stuff!
  105.
  106. ==== PSN ====
  107.
  108. Note: PSN is currently broken so none of this applies.
  109.
  110. I repeat: Do NOT update under any circumstance! You are hosed if you do.
  111.
  112. As mentioned, PSN may or may not work. But you can create and link an account
  113. and will need to do this to set up Adrenaline. With a PS3 it is also possible
  114. to use as a middleman for the PS Store if you want digital copies of games and
  115. PSN is blocked on the Vita.
  116.
  117. https://hackinformer.com/PlayStationGuide/PSV/olderfirmwareguide.html
  118.
  119. Be aware being able to access PSN does not allow you to bypass game firmware
  120. requirements or PSN regional lockout.
  121.
  122. ==== PIRATING ====
  123.
  124. TODO: PSVsdcard and/or NoNpDrm soon!
  125.
  126. Older methods are not recommended but may be necessary for the time being. For
  127. Mai dumps, download MaiDumpTool.
  128.
  129. https://github.com/LioMajor/MaiDumpToolEN/releases
  130.
  131. To install a game, extract the ZIP, then copy the GAMEID folder and any _patch
  132. and _addc folders to ux0:/mai then in MaiDumpTool install the game, then patch
  133. and DLC if applicable. If a game has DLC you will also need to switch the game
  134. loading method to 5 or 6, which is needed depends on the game.
  135.
  136. Vitamin dumps are just VPK files. Use these as a last resort only.
  137.
  138. ==== ADRENALINE ====
  139.
  140. As of Adrenaline 6 installing is much simpler, and you don't need PSN. Refer to
  141. the readme for initial setup. Also recommend to follow note 1 as it allows you
  142. to run Adrenaline without unsafe homebrew enabled.
  143.
  144. https://github.com/TheOfficialFloW/Adrenaline
  145.
  146. Finally, run through the initial PSP setup. PSP ISOs need to be copied into
  147. ux0:/pspemu/ISO and in Adrenaline will show up under Game -> Memory Stick™. As
  148. of Adrenaline 3 you can also run Playstation games provided they're converted
  149. to PSP eBoot.
  150.
  151. https://nicoblog.org/guides/psx2psp-v1-4-2-how-to-convert-games-to/
  152.
  153. Such games are a GAMEID folder that should be placed in ux0:/pspemu/PSP/GAME/
  154.
  155. Note: It's possible to have pspemu/ on ur0: or uma0: change it in Adrenaline's
  156. settings if you want this.
  157.
  158. ==== CUSTOM THEMING ====
  159.
  160. Themes, link to the installer program, and also how to make your own. Pretty
  161. simple stuff. The theme installer requires unsafe homebrew.
  162.
  163. http://psv.altervista.org/
  164.
  165. ==== MULTI-ACCOUNTING ====
  166.
  167. I haven't tried this but it might be helpful for people wanting to bypass the
  168. PSN region lockout.
  169.
  170. https://gbatemp.net/threads/v3-60-how-to-swap-between-different-psn-accounts-without-formatting-using-henkaku.436414/
  171.
  172. ==== 3.61 AND OVER ====
  173.
  174. Mostly only useful for custom theming, and removal of PSTV blacklisting. TODO:
  175. Document this. 3.63 and under has ARK for pirating PSP games, while all systems
  176. have VHBL for running PSP homebrew.
