  1. What makes our bones strong? Calcium
  2. What do we get from the sun? Vitamin D (actually it’s a hormone) two important roles of vitamin d are in our immune system and in the process of calcium absorption
  3. https://www.brainmdhealth.com/blog/9-vital-functions-vitamin-d/
  4. What makes our blood healthy? 70% of iron found in blood it is a vital element of blood production
  5. What makes our brain healthy? Neurotransmitters, let’s just say, serotonin. Where does serotonin come from? It is biosynthesized from tryptophan, and iron is a cofactor.
  6. The role of iron in serotonin creation: Iron is a cofactor for tyrosine hydroxylase and tryptophan hydroxylase, enzymes that are responsible for dopamine and serotonin synthesis, respectively. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4253901/
  7. The most common complaint with iron deficiency is fatigue, but may also include hair loss, brittle nails, poor memory and concentration, mood swings, anxiety, insomnia and depression.

  9. How much energy does our brain use? It uses 20 to 25% of the total consumption of energy, in comparison to other organs. That’s massive. Two thirds of that energy go towards neural signals. 1/3rd goes towards cell-health maintenance. AKA, housekeeping, this is incredibly important for keeping the brain tissue alive, for many biological processes in the brain.
  10. What nourishes the brain? A healthy diet.
  11. The brain creates waste – toxic to the function of the brain, but a necessary result from brain’s functions – every organ produces waste. How does the brain keep clean? When does it clean?
  12. Sleep is when our brain’s are cleaned. Toxic waste buildup from the day is cleaned out of the brain via fluid rapidly pumping outside blood vessels, this fluid picks up waste between cells, and drains it out through major veins – this fluid is cerebrospinal fluid. It clears the metabolic garbage.

  15.
  16. Common symptoms of stress are a loss of appetite and trouble sleeping.
  17. A loss of appetite means a lack of nutrients for the brain.
  18. Trouble sleeping means more toxic waste build up in the brain.
  19. This means the brain has to work even harder to function at stock standard levels.
  20. This cognitive decline affects self esteem.
  21. This self esteem drop increases stress.
  22. Stress leads to further loss of appetite and trouble sleeping.
  23. And so on and so forth.
  24.
  25. What is something you find meaningful?
  26. Why?
  27. It’s because you attribute something to that thing. And that can be incredibly motivating, because we value it, because it means something to us.
  28. My work is based around education people about the brain as an organ, the mind as our perception of ourselves and the world, and the body and how they all affect each other, both negatively, and positively.
  29. My work is based on fundamentally shifting the current dominate health paradigm which is crisis oriented and moving Australia into a health paradigm that is truly, genuinely, about prevention, education, and empowering people.
