In "Belfast to Open Ireland's First Abortion Clinic," the article addresses the Marie Stopes facility's attempt to bring abortion to the people of Belfast, which is the capital and largest city in Northern Ireland.  Despite abortion being legal in Ireland under specific conditions, namely if the continued pregnancy were to place physical danger or affect the mother’s mental health, the opening of an abortion clinic would push the religious boundaries that has divided Ireland, the British Protestants and the Irish Catholic, thus angering citizens.

While they plan on offering "non-surgical abortions to women...less than nine weeks in gestation," such a clinic would immediately attract attention from the other side, in this case, an anti-abortion group, Precious Life, who "[plans] to picket the clinic.”
