Resilient Session 10

	ResilientGM	The garrisoned administratum building echoes with the shifting guardsmen and the drops of rainwater leaking into the large hall. Your squad has found a some space near the stairs leading to the room where Lieutenant Stannis and his squad are set up. The NCOs present begin to make their way up the stairs to meet with their commander to run through the final preparations.
	Kass_Yonova	is trying to relax after going through his kit and weapons several times. He is still mulling over what happened before arriving at the administratum building.
	Mathias_Ferrus	is heading upstairs for the meeting.
	Gru_Persay	is meditating with his servitors standing by.
	Victrus_Macharius	relaxes on a nearby chair.
	ResilientGM	Lieutenant Stannis acknowledges Ferrus as he comes into the room with a nod, and carries on with his brief.
	ResilientGM	Stannis: "As such, the supply lines will not reach anywhere near the objectives for most of you. I'm afraid you're stuck with whatever you have at this moment, until Logistics can clear and secure a path."
	Animus	is doing his best to avoid everyone
	Victrus_Macharius	looks over at Animus
	ResilientGM	"Keep in mind that the civilian population has largely moved away from this location, and will be highly concentrated behind enemy lines. Those of you heading far into enemy territory may have an opportunity to find out what the sentiment of the general population is. Loyalist groups should be reported back."
	ResilientGM	"The Jaegers will be present, but not always immediately able to provide support. As with Logistics, you are on your own until further notice."
	Animus	glances awkwardly at Victrus, who is looking at him
	ResilientGM	Koeln keeps a short distance between himself and the Psyker, but his eyes dart around the room, distracted.
	ResilientGM	Gilliam goes over inventory, and hands Kass the list.
	Animus	"Hey Koeln, wanna see a trick?"
	Victrus_Macharius	says in his mind "Hi Animus."
	Animus	glances at Victrus and waves
	ResilientGM	Koeln: "Huh?" he looks up, a bit startled. "Sure."
	Victrus_Macharius	waves back.
	Animus	whispers in Koelns head "Pretty cool huh?"
	ResilientGM	Koeln falls on his ass.
	Kass_Yonova	Kass takes the list from Gilliam and looks it over.
	ResilientGM	"What are you doing?!" he shouts, terrified. Guardsmen around him, stare.
	Victrus_Macharius	get up from where he is sitting and walks up to Koeln and Animus.
	ResilientGM	Some laugh at him.
	Mathias_Ferrus	"Sir, with all this talk of civilians and Loyalists, I feel this should be asked. What would be the ROE during this advance?"
	Animus	"Hello Victrus."
	Victrus_Macharius	"You alright Koeln?"
	ResilientGM	Stannis: "We're unsure of how the local populace would react to guardsmen, so it's best you avoid contact while infiltrating. If you encounter civilians, and you cannot ascertain their loyalties, consider them expendable, and proceed to your objectives."
	Mathias_Ferrus	nods and continues to listen.
	Gru_Persay	gets up from his meditation and begins basic maintenance on his servitors.
	ResilientGM	Koeln: "No, the witch! He--" he gets up and looks around, noticing the stares he's getting. He decides not to finish his thought and walks to the medics.
	Animus	shrugs " You said you wanted to see a trick."
	ResilientGM	"Intelligence assets have identified key enemy commanders in the area which must be taken out. We are one of several elements of the task force instructed to see to this objective" the lieutenant unfolds a list of names and places it on the table in front of him.
	Kass_Yonova	"Yes Koeln?" Kass says without looking up from the list of medical supplies.
	ResilientGM	Some of the names have brief descriptions on them, and even last known locations, while others do not. Lieutenant Stannis continues, "copy these down, and consider them secondary objectives until you're told otherwise - do not spend your time finding the secessionist leaders, but if you have any reason to suspect you have a lead, report it in, and attempt to take them out."
	Gru_Persay	"Animus, I have some words of wisdom. It probably isn't a good decision to mess with a man who has authority to shoot you."
	ResilientGM	Koeln: "That /witch/" he hisses, "got in my head! I must be tainted after that. I need you to examine me."
	Victrus_Macharius	look at Animus, "I also recommend you better not mess around right now, and Koeln try to relax a bit, we need you in good shape so don't trip anymore."
	Animus	nods and walks away
	ResilientGM	Stannis: "Unless there are any further questions, you are dismissed. Emperor be with you."
	Mathias_Ferrus	takes a good look at the list while copying as much as he can before getting back to his squad.
	Kass_Yonova	"Don't let him get to you, kid. He's messing with you." Kass looks up. "If anything you're sleep deprived."
	Victrus_Macharius	walks back to the chair and sits back down
	ResilientGM	One of the Lieutenant's aides runs up to Mathias and calls out, "Sergeant!"
	Mathias_Ferrus	stops and turns around. "Yes?"
	ResilientGM	He hands him what appear to be sealed orders. Labeled in the Prithian High-Command's typography typical of Ferrus' days in the academy are the words: STRENG GEHEIM: NICHT ÖFFNEN
	ResilientGM	The young corporal moves closer to Ferrus and adds in a low tone, "When instructed, open and review the orders. Destroy and dispose immediately afterwards."
	Mathias_Ferrus	takes the orders and, once he had read the words, quickly pockets them. "Understood. Anything else I would need to know?"
	ResilientGM	He hands you a Vox-frequency list, "Scan through these past mid-day, every day, until you receive a transmission."
	ResilientGM	"Jaeger platoons," he adds, pointing at the list.
	Mathias_Ferrus	nods as he quickly looks over the list. "This should be interesting."
	ResilientGM	Around you, NCOs gather their squads and ready themselves to move out.
	Mathias_Ferrus	once more gets to work on gathering his squad.
	ResilientGM	Vorgen, the Vox operator sits in a corner, taking apart the machine, performing maintenance and... apparently talking to it all the while. He appears completely unaware of his surroundings.
	Mathias_Ferrus	approaches Vorgen. "You know you are supposed to talk to it when it's actually working, right?"
	Mathias_Ferrus	then looks at the rest of his squad. "Alright, gents, we got our new assignment. It involves the possibility of heading behind enemy lines, on our own and just with what we are carrying. So a nice hiking trip."
	ResilientGM	Startled, the young vox operator stands to attention, and then takes a knee again to finish his maintenance, awkwardly trying to look prepared.
	Kass_Yonova	"Urban hiking, huh?" Kass says as he gathers his gear.
	Victrus_Macharius	get up from his chair, "Yes Sir."
	Animus	"EH."
	Animus	salutes
	Mathias_Ferrus	nods. "Pretty much. I want you all to be alert on this one. Quite a few good targets of opportunity out there."
	ResilientGM	Vorgen approaches, the squad once more, Vox strapped on his back, "Ready, Sergeant!"
	Animus	"Yes sir."
	Mathias_Ferrus	"Alright, everyone ready to get moving?"
	Victrus_Macharius	nods and follows Mathias
	Kass_Yonova	"Yes, sir."
	Gru_Persay	"Understood."
	Animus	"Can we start a marching song?"
	Gru_Persay	"No."
	Mathias_Ferrus	"Considering where we are going, no singing or other unnecesary loud sounds."
	Animus	sighs sadly and keeps walking
	Victrus_Macharius	"Just sing it in you head."
	Mathias_Ferrus	leads the way, keeping Vorgen close. "I have a small extra task for you." He then hands him a piece of paper with some frequencies written on them. "I want you to check in on these frequencies every day around mid-day, if you pick anything up, tell me immediately."
	ResilientGM	The administratum building slowly empties as squads exit and proceed to their objectives.
	ResilientGM	Vorgen: "Understood."
	Animus	"I could sing in all of your heads if you want."
	Mathias_Ferrus	"NO!"
	Victrus_Macharius	looks the paper over
	ResilientGM	Koeln: "Sergeant, give the order, and I will rid us of the witch."
	Victrus_Macharius	"Calm you shit Koeln."
	Mathias_Ferrus	"Not yet, so keep that trigger finger in check."
	Kass_Yonova	"Emperor's Teeth."
	Animus	"Yet?"
	Animus	"I'm just trying to lighten the mood."
	ResilientGM	Koeln gives a sigh of frustration.
	Gru_Persay	commands his servitors to follow behind him.

	Victrus_Macharius	checks the Heavy Bolter

	Mathias_Ferrus	"If morale and combat effectiveness starts to drop dramatically due to tensions surrounding the use of your 'talent's' I will be left with no choice but to give the word." He then gets on the vox and joins in on the check.
	Animus	"Well seeing how we've been doing so far, combat effectiveness can't fall much lower."
	Kass_Yonova	"Combat effectiveness isn't the problem, it's the target of it." Kass comments from the back of the squad.
	ResilientGM	Gilliam: "Am I in agreement with a Psyker? Emperor protect us all."
	Mathias_Ferrus	brings his hand to his laspistol. "I'll keep your thoughts on the subject in mind."
	Gru_Persay	sighs.
	Victrus_Macharius	"Animus, just shut up right now."
	Animus	sighs and walks silently
	ResilientGM	You advance through the bombarded ruins for several miles, often having to alter your path to get around obstructed avenues.
	ResilientGM	To the West, muffled thunder echoes from a distant storm. Some of you, however are able to perceive a slightly different muffled boom, the distance of which must be less than a kilometer away.
	Kass_Yonova	"Sounds like a party."
	Mathias_Ferrus	"Sounds like a storm to me."
	Victrus_Macharius	"Yea that got to be hitting about what, a kilometer or less away."
	Gru_Persay	"This feels awfully familiar."
	ResilientGM	Vorgen: "Sergeant, Squad Altmann's been hit. They're requesting assistance."
	Animus	"Sounds like a stormy party then."
	Mathias_Ferrus	"Alright, what are they up against?"
	ResilientGM	The vox operator alters the frequency of his transmitter, and you're all patched through.
	ResilientGM	+... is down, Sergeant Altmann is down!+
	ResilientGM	+Medic... shit- Medic is KIA, too.+
	Kass_Yonova	"Shit."
	Mathias_Ferrus	+This is Squad Ferrus, what is your current position? Enemy strength?+
	ResilientGM	+We can't see shit, Ferrus. Fecking ambush... moving to cover+
	ResilientGM	The engagement is now audible to everyone. There's no question they're nearby.
	Victrus_Macharius	"What are your orders sir?" as Victrus readies the heavy bolter.
	Mathias_Ferrus	"Feth, guess we are following the detonations. Keep your weapons ready. Don't fire unless you are certain you are looking at a threat." +We are on our way, if you are able to give us a destination, that'd make your rescue easier, Ferrus out.+
	Kass_Yonova	"On the move!" Kass follows the sergeant, making sure his lasgun is good to go.
	Animus	readies his... mind?"
	Victrus_Macharius	follows while pushing the Heavy Bolter.
	ResilientGM	You follow the sound of the shots, until you reach an intersection where smoke slowly blows in your direction.
	ResilientGM	You hear footsteps rushing towards you.
	ResilientGM	4 silhouettes become visible to you through the smoke, and they are fast approaching.
	Kass_Yonova	+I see four guys vaguely in the smoke, Sarge.+
	Animus	+What he said.+
	Kass_Yonova	"Himmel!" Kass shouts out to the figures in the smoke.
	ResilientGM	The reply, "Donner", doesn't come. The figures continue their approach.
	Animus	"Open fire?"
	Mathias_Ferrus	"Ready weapons!"
	Mathias_Ferrus	"Fire!"
	Victrus_Macharius	readies bolter
	Kass_Yonova	shoulders his lasgun, pointing it towards the enemy.
	Victrus_Macharius	opens fires
	Gru_Persay	readies his auto gun and commands his combat servitor forward.
	ResilientGM	The squad opens fire, in a devastating barrage, turning their targets into mincemeat.
	Gru_Persay	"Check the bodies or whatever is left of them?"
	ResilientGM	Ahead, the skirmish still rages on.
	Mathias_Ferrus	"Animus, check what we just messed up! Vorgen! See if you can get me Altmann on the vox." He starts barking orders as he looks for a nearby building to use for cover.
	Animus	runs over to the bodies to inspect
	ResilientGM	There are no weapons or ammunition near the gory remains. In fact, there aren't even uniforms - enemy or otherwise.
	Animus	+I'm sure these farmers appreciated our fire.+
	Kass_Yonova	+Farmers? You mean civvies?+

	Victrus_Macharius	"Well, Shit"
	Gru_Persay	+A waste of ammo.+
	Animus	+Combat effectiveness seems to be a-okay."
	ResilientGM	+Must be at least 2 squads. We are inside and pinned!+
	Mathias_Ferrus	"Alright, let's keep moving, people." +I'm going to need a location, throw some smoke or something for Thrones sake!+
	ResilientGM	+Look for green smoke!+
	Animus	+Green means safety.+
	Kass_Yonova	Kass continues to move, following the Sergeant.
	Victrus_Macharius	follows
	Animus	follows
	Gru_Persay	follows with his servitors.
	Mathias_Ferrus	"Alright, keep your eyes open for green smoke. And watch your targets, friendlies are in the area."
	ResilientGM	Ahead of you, the grey milky smoke from fires and collapsed rock-crete slowly turns into a greener hue. The source appears to be the building on your left, on the far end near the intersection proper where the engagement is happening.
	ResilientGM	As you move closer to the action, and pass through rubble left from a collapsed side of the building, you notice the remains of a guardsman underneath.
		Kass_Yonova	Kass runs forward and checks on the remains of the guardsman.
	Victrus_Macharius	"Shit"
	ResilientGM	The uniform is that of a sergeant, his tags are still on him.
	Animus	searches the area with his mind
	Kass_Yonova	+Found Altmann.+ Kass removes the tags for safe-keeping.
	ResilientGM	'KONRAD ALTMANN, Sergeant' the tags read
	Mathias_Ferrus	"Alright, we'll need to check him later. For now we are going in." He then enters into the building, lasgun at the ready.
	Kass_Yonova	"Yes, sir."
	Animus	follows behind him
	Victrus_Macharius	follows with bolter
	ResilientGM	From inside, the call comes, "Himmel!"
	Kass_Yonova	"Donner!"
	Animus	"Donner."
	Mathias_Ferrus	"Donner!"
	Victrus_Macharius	"Donner!"
	ResilientGM	"Thank the Emperor you found us, Sergeant. Follow me!"
	ResilientGM	Inside, there are two wounded guardsmen, still holding their lasguns. A few yards inside, the remaining men of Altmann squad are in cover, receiving enemy fire. The trooper guides you towards them.
	Kass_Yonova	Kass immediately runs to the two wounded and gets to work.
	Animus	moves to support the men under fire
	Mathias_Ferrus	"Get that bolter set up! Doc, check the wounded. Everyone else, supressive fire!"
	ResilientGM	Gilliam: "Put the weapon to your side, and don't move" he says, taking a knee next to one of the wounded.
	Victrus_Macharius	"Yes Sir," Victrus moves the Bolter up into position.
	Gru_Persay	commands the multitask to wait near the wounded. He commands Lungs and the combat servitor to follow him. Gru ducks behind a collapse wall with his combat servitors.
	Gru_Persay	*multitask servitor
	Animus	dominates the mind of the farthest man from him, and has him turn his gun onto his comrades. He does no damage
	Kass_Yonova	With the help of Gilliam Kass has an easy time of ascertaining the wounded and quickly has their wounds cleaned and bandaged. "Take it easy for now, moving will open your wounds." Kass nods to Gilliam and then grabs his lasgun to join the others at the fight ahead.
	Gru_Persay	commands the combat servitor to fire. The Servitor kills the soldier on the far left. Gru and Lungs crawl towards the Heavy Bolter.
	ResilientGM	Koeln: "Handgrenade!"
	Animus	dodges out of the way
	Gru_Persay	and Lungs dodges the grenade.
	ResilientGM	Men of the Altmann squad dive away just as the grenade detonates left of the heavy bolter.
	Victrus_Macharius	tries to dodge the grenade but fails to do so, and takes some shrapnel to his left leg and arm.
	Mathias_Ferrus	"Alright, keep them busy, I have an idea! You two, with me!" He leads the way to the stairs at the back of the building. "How did you guys get into this mess anyways?"
	Animus	attempts to control one of the men, but fails
	ResilientGM	"Charges on the face of the building. Took out the Sergeant and our Medic. The blast alerted them, and they surrounded us in minutes."
	Victrus_Macharius	get up and back on the bolter. Opening fire, the shots his one of the enemy's, creating a hole in his chest killing him in the process.
	Gru_Persay	+Medic!+
	ResilientGM	Altmann squad continues firing into the enemy. A frak grenade is tossed out the window, and it goes off, injuring two of the enemy soldiers outside.
	Gru_Persay	commands the combat servitor to fire and misses. Afterwards, he commands it to hide behind cover.
	ResilientGM	After watching their comrade get annihilated by bolter fire, the enemy focuses fire on Victrus, who successfully dodges out of the way.
	Animus	takes control of the mans brain and has him pull a grenade, but only the primer goes off
	Victrus_Macharius	opens fire but the enemy moves and all the shots miss
	ResilientGM	Altmann squad fires upon the two men on the right flank. One catches fire, and is unconscious, while his comrade also catches fire, and desperately tries to put himself out.
	Kass_Yonova	aims and put's a las bolt through the head of the enemy who is trying to bat out his fire, killing him instantly.
	Gru_Persay	commands his combat servitor to fire and kills one of the soldiers. Lungs is trying to charge the enemy under Gru's orders.
	Mathias_Ferrus	rushes to the window. "Vorgen, keep them supressed!" As his vox operator keeps them nice and close, he throws a grenade right ontop of them, which explodes for great effect.
	Animus	stares into the flames of the burning men, concentrating on the powers of the warp. He builds up power within him and lets his flaming rage unleash on the corpse nearest him.
	ResilientGM	Koeln unholsters his laspistol, and takes a few steps away from the Psyker, aiming at him.
	ResilientGM	"Sergeant!"
	Mathias_Ferrus	"No shooting at the psyker!"
	Animus	"Oh Emperor."
	ResilientGM	"Sergeant, you don't understand! Daemonic manifestations!"
	Animus	"I am not possessed." He lifts his hands into the air
	ResilientGM	"I saw what just happened, /witch/."
	Victrus_Macharius	"Koeln, calm your shit now, or next time I will tackle you to the ground."
	ResilientGM	"You shut your mouth, sentry. I have my orders as you have yours."
	Gru_Persay	"By the Omnissiah..."
	ResilientGM	Squad Altmann appears to be in agreement with young Koeln. They all take aim at the Psyker.
	Victrus_Macharius	"Unless the Sargent says otherwise, you calm your shit now."
	Mathias_Ferrus	"Just calm down. We are all still in one piece and quite sane. And I won't have Doc here waste supplies treating you two because you overreacted to the psyker being stupid. As for you, Animus, you try to use your powers again in such a petty way again and I'll shoot you myself."
	Animus	"I was just trying to learn a new talent to make myself more useful to the squad."
	Kass_Yonova	"What a mess." Kass says while dusting himself off.
	ResilientGM	One of Altmann Squad chimes in, "Heresies like this cannot be tolerated, Sergeant."
	Victrus_Macharius	sits down, "Hey Kass, Arthur and me need your medical assistance."
	Mathias_Ferrus	"We are effectively in enemy territory here, not the place to take risks with the Immaterium."
	Kass_Yonova	"Right, Gilliam tend to Arthur, I'll get Victrus."
	ResilientGM	Gilliam: "Yes, /boss/."
	Kass_Yonova	"Yeah, yeah, just get to it, CMO."
	Animus	"Lesson learned, next time I'll consult you. Will you kindly tell these gentlemen to stand down?"
	Mathias_Ferrus	"And I won't tolerate any summary executions over this. Once we are back in friendly ground, I'll do the necessary paperwork to see you penalized for your actions and that'll be the end of it."
	ResilientGM	Koeln: "Damnit, Sergeant! This was a clear violation of protocol!"
	ResilientGM	the young trooper maintains his weapon trained on the Psyker.
	Kass_Yonova	Kass pulls out all the shrapnel he can find in Victrus, cleans the areas affected and bandages him. Gilliam does the same for Arthur. "You didn't take too much damage, too much damn muscle to really affect you."
	Kass_Yonova	"Sound off you lot! Are any of you wounded?!"
	Victrus_Macharius	"Yep,well i plan on not taking any more damage in the near future."
	Mathias_Ferrus	"And so is not obeying orders, now holster your weapon."
	Animus	starts to devise a plan of defense if necessary
	ResilientGM	"My orders to control the witch come from higher authority than your own!" Koeln fiercely replies, but immediately regretting it.
	ResilientGM	He looks around, and slowly composes himself.
	ResilientGM	He holsters his weapon.
	ResilientGM	Vorgen: "I'm sorry to interrupt, Sergeant, but Company Command wishes to speak with you on a secure channel about something."
	Victrus_Macharius	"Well then, glad that has been resolved now."
	Animus	gives a sigh of relief and falls onto his back
	Gru_Persay	sits down.
	Victrus_Macharius	"Gru, how you holding up?"
	Mathias_Ferrus	sighs. "Vorgen, patch me through. I'll talk with them while taking a closer look on what's left of Altmann."
	ResilientGM	"Right away."
	ResilientGM	+Sergeant Ferrus?+
	Mathias_Ferrus	still sounds somewhat frustrated at what just happened. +This is Sergeant Ferrus speaking. What can I do for you?+

	Victrus_Macharius	looks to Arthur, "How's your wounds?"
	Mathias_Ferrus	looks around as he examines what's left of his fellow Sergeant.
	ResilientGM	Arthur: "I'll be fine. That asshole, Gilliam at least knows what he's doing."
	Gru_Persay	starts praying in binary.
	Mathias_Ferrus	+Yes.+

	Kass_Yonova	Kass approaches the remains of Altmann's squad, "hey, sound off, are any of you wounded? Also, where is your medic?"
	Mathias_Ferrus	quickly opens his orders, stopping his search for the time being.
	Victrus_Macharius	"Yep, I think Koeln needs to learn some more restraint before he acts without Sarge's order, we are going to need everyone for this fight."
	ResilientGM	On Altmann's corpse you find orders, a letter home, a picture of a sweetheart -or perhaps a wife- and a list of targets; enemy commanders to be taken out. Additionally, his sidearm is still holstered, with 3 charge packs.

	Victrus_Macharius	"So out of curiosity Animus, what did you just learn anyways."
	Animus	"I can now make flames."
	Victrus_Macharius	"Well then, remind me the next time I forget my lighter to ask you."
	Mathias_Ferrus	reads his apparently long orders.
	Animus	gives a thumbs up
	Victrus_Macharius	"And we could have cooked food to."
	Mathias_Ferrus	balls up the paper containing the orders and pockets something before firing a single lasbolt into it.

	ResilientGM	"Medic is somewhere under that collapsed rubble outside... where you found Sergeant Altmann...."
	ResilientGM	"We all seem to be okay, Corporal. Thank you."
	Mathias_Ferrus	also takes the papers that were on Altmann before returning into the building. "So, who's in command of this squad now?"
	Kass_Yonova	"Damn."
	Kass_Yonova	Kass sighs, "well good to hear the rest of you are good to go. Your two comrades are stable, should be good to go in about a week or so."
	ResilientGM	"Well... we lost our Corporal on our way to the rendezvous with the LT...."
	Kass_Yonova	"I'm sorry to hear that. We've had some casualties of our own this past month. Lost our previous Sergeant the other day."
	Mathias_Ferrus	"In that case, let me see if I can contact the LT, see what's to be done with you fellas. Vorgen, see if you can get me Platoon on the vox."
	ResilientGM	"A brave death, is one in the service of Prithia."
	ResilientGM	Vorgen: "Right away."
