The Crimson's Caravans group has been facilitating relations and trade between the E.L.R. and their closest civilized neighbors. Initial forays into diplomacy were greased by the need to acquire replacement parts for several over-stressed parts of the engines.

  28. [2016-10-26 13:28:47] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Star Dust has a smile growing wider and brighter by the moment. "Shatara, I just got my letter from the General's Council. They've decided that with the resources that the Basin will give us, we can afford limited alleviation of the reproduction moratorium." She hugs Shatara suddenly. "I'm going to get to be a mother!"

But while it may be a long time coming, it is slowly returning to the world that was, hopefully with peace and hope at its heart."

  33. [2016-10-26 13:30:34] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Noble_Heart notices a commotion at the edge of the jungle. By the time whatever happened catches her attention, several E.L.R. soldiers have already responded. She can't make out who or what they are surrounding. There doesn't seem to be any violence though. No shots have been fired. No alarms.

  35. [2016-10-26 13:30:53] <Mare-Do-Well> 3A bomber wagon is dispatched from the Thunderhead, the piloting pegasus pulling it through the air towards where the others are gathered. It lands, partially blocking Noble_Heart's view. But she can tell something(s) or someone is being loaded into it.

Jugeote shouts a greeting to Shatara as she slides down. Thumping her hooves onto the ground she calls out in griffin, "I let you out of my sight for one eon, and I find you in the embrace of a stranger?"

  47. [2016-10-26 13:46:51] * Shatara squaks, ears flattening. "Not with me! Probably." He squirms, glancing between the mares.
  48. [2016-10-26 13:49:46] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Jugeote looks at Shatara, then asks in griffin, "What did she just say?" Jugeote still cannot speak pony.
  49. [2016-10-26 13:52:40] * Shatara relaxes a little. "She just got some very good news. For herself. Pegasus business."
  50. [2016-10-26 13:58:31] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Jugeote nods. "Well, we're going to be docked here at least a day while Kifaa and Mwana trade scraps and bits with your new pegasus friends. Got someplace private we could do griffin-zebra business?"
  51. [2016-10-26 14:01:49] * Shatara blushes again through his dark plumage. "I'm...sure we could find a place..."
  52. [2016-10-26 14:05:06] * mimezinga lately is often hidden somewhere working or doing things, the group has seen her just during naptime, and wasn't always by night
  53. [2016-10-26 14:13:01] * TenMihara decides to try seeking out Wind Weaver. She wanted to share her success, such as it was, and show off her nieces and nephew.

  55. [2016-10-26 14:15:19] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Wind Weaver is easy to find. She is in the lab. After Doctor Sonica was relieved of her position, the new head of the lab promoted Wind Weaver to an assistant position in part of his efforts to re-envision and re-tool the lab for a different line of research.
  56. [2016-10-26 14:16:31] <Mare-Do-Well> 3When Mitzi finds her, she is going over scout photos of the basin's exotic wildlife.
  57. [2016-10-26 14:16:48] <TenMihara> Mitzi looks very pleased when she sees Wind Weaver no longer being treated so shamefully. She looks around the lab curiously, though she knocks first before entering.
  58. [2016-10-26 14:17:29] * Golden_Dream quickly ducks into the /Cutlass/. She is a mare on a mission, and the way she walks, stern, leaning forward, momentum ready to bowl anyone in her way over. She's heading for the barracks, for a hammock she knows well, for a colt she knows well.
  59. [2016-10-26 14:19:24] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Several pegasi look up, a few showing shock or fear. But Wind Weaver greets Mitzi with a smile and then asks the new doctor if she can let Mitzi in. "Ah... this is the one? Certainly then." The doctor turns to the others. "This is the hellhound who shut down Doctor Sonica's program. Now back to work. These jungle beasties won't manage themselves."
  60. [2016-10-26 14:22:50] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Back at the clearing's edge, Jugeote moves up next to Shatara and gives Star Dust a look that needs no translation. Mine. Star Dust meeps and stops hugging, blushing and stammering until the Enclave ponies arrive to help with the delivery.
  61. [2016-10-26 14:23:52] <AndChat|120881> Mitzi smiles at Wind Weaver and steps in to have a look. "So wut eez yu dueen now?" She asks curiously.
  62. [2016-10-26 14:25:44] * Noble_Heart was intent to find out what had happened with that sky tank. She didn't think there were any scouts out here, and whatever it was required higher ranking intervention. She was definitely confused and curious as to what was going on.
  63. [2016-10-26 14:25:45] * Bookwright has turned up to watch the arrival of the Cutlass, notebook at the ready to take down anything of import.
  64. [2016-10-26 14:27:58] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Golden_Dream arrives shortly after Bookwright and the pegasi. She finds Mwana and Kifaa are being lowered by the cargo crane, along with several pallets of supplies. Mwana is still the only zebra aboard the /Cutlass/ who speaks fluent Equestrian, after all.
  65. [2016-10-26 14:28:28] * CopyCat lands gracefully near the recently-docked /Cutlass/, and giggles as she sees Shatara's situation. "Somebird's popular~" she teases playfully, before nodding to Jugeote in greeting. "I will assist with translating during the trade, if you two happened to want to go somewhere else..." she says in Equestrian and then Zebra, adding a wink for Jugeote at the end. She knew that look in the zebra mare's eye.
  66. [2016-10-26 14:29:18] * Bookwright jots, "Mwana has arrived, along with supplies from the cutlass. Golden Dream is here to receive only one of these things into her good graces."
  67. [2016-10-26 14:30:37] <Mare-Do-Well> 3The wink needs no translation. Jugeote nods and starts nudging Shatara in the direction of privacy. Something hindered primarily by Jugeote not knowing where a good private place might be.
  68. [2016-10-26 14:31:12] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Mwana trots over and publically pouncehugs Golden_Dream.
  69. [2016-10-26 14:32:06] * mimezinga lately, has even ditched the repairs and is really, really hard to find around. still, the few times she's around, she seems in a good if somewht very hective mood
  70. [2016-10-26 14:36:18] * Golden_Dream falls over onto her back does public cuddlekisses to Mwana. After an /awesome/ minute and a half, she pokes him in the chest. "You. Me. Finish this up in a broom closet?" She flutters her eyes. She's, for once, happy that the damned jumpsuit is too damn tight in the rear.
  71. [2016-10-26 14:38:38] * CopyCat turns, having just diffused the awkwardness of an accidental feathery-stripy love triangle, and gives Star Dust a big hug. "Congratulations!" she cheers happily, "That's fantastic news! I'm sure you will be a wonderful mother."
  72. [2016-10-26 14:40:15] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Mwana nods enthusiastically, and soon the little pony and little zebra are running off in one direction, the griffin and the other zebra taking off in another. Kifaa looks at Bookwright and sighs. Some people have to do the actual work.
  73. [2016-10-26 14:41:14] * Bookwright grins and shrugs, putting away the notebook.
  74. [2016-10-26 14:43:05] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Wind Weaver, meanwhile, is showing Mitzi what the lab is now working on. The new doctor has shifted the lab's focus to cataloguing, researching and working up ways to handle the local fauna.
  75. [2016-10-26 14:43:53] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Wind Weaver explains: "If we really are going to make our home here, we have to know what is and is not dangerous. We have to have ways of protecting ourselves from what we cannot ignore or control."
  76. [2016-10-26 14:44:20] <Mare-Do-Well> 3At that last word, she frowns. "Don't worry. No 'controlling' sentient creatures. Part of my promotion is that I'm supposed to be the lab's new expert on what is and isn't sentient. Before taming beasts of burden, we're going to make sure we aren't taming /people/."
  77. [2016-10-26 14:45:26] * Mitzi nods. "Dat eez reasonable, so long as dey respect dose dat can tink und talk fur demselves." She smiles proudly at Wind Weaver taking that unto herself and pats her adopted litter mate on the head. She reaches into her pocket and pulls out the new photograph. "Uh also wanted tu show yu dis."
  78. [2016-10-26 14:46:24] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Wind Weaver spreads her wings, her eyes growing big and dewey. "ooooH! The babies!"
  79. [2016-10-26 14:48:23] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Star Dust beams at CopyCat's kindness. "Thank you!"
  80. [2016-10-26 14:48:53] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Meanwhile, inside the city...
  81. [2016-10-26 14:50:22] * Mitzi smiles and nods, pointing to the infant hellhounds. "Dere names eez Fido, FrouFrou, und Gigi. Gigi eez named aftur Ur sister whu died from sickness."
  82. [2016-10-26 14:50:57] <Mare-Do-Well> 3It takes a little while for Noble_Heart to find her query. She learns quickly that someone appeared at the edge of the clearing and the guards took whoever (or whatever) it was into secure holding. But Noble_Heart finds no sign of any prisoners or anyone in security. She finally locates him in the infirmary.
  83. [2016-10-26 14:52:12] <Mare-Do-Well> 3She doesn't immediately recognize the changeling who is being medically attended to under close and well-armed supervision. But she does recognize the briefcase with the Golden Buckle symbol.
  84. [2016-10-26 15:00:41] * Noble_Heart frowns, that was definitely not a good sign. She moved up to speak to the attendants. "Have they given a name? Or information on what happened?" She had doubts, but it never hurt to ask first.
  85. [2016-10-26 15:06:14] <Mare-Do-Well> 3One of the guards answers, "Before it passed out, it said its name was Effigy. It tried to say more, but was mostly incoherent, and it passed out."
  86. [2016-10-26 15:08:04] * Noble_Heart hrms quietly and rubs her chin. She looked down at the briefcase. "Has anyone checked the briefcase? It seems odd that they would put such effort into bringing it back so far if they fled Roam in haste..."
  87. [2016-10-26 15:18:47] * CopyCat , meanwhile, is outside chatting with Star Dust. Since she can't help make a baby (only baby making 'practice'), she offers to help find the mare a colt friend. (and, ideally, not just a baby daddy)
  88. [2016-10-26 15:27:12] <Mare-Do-Well> 3The guards shake their head to Noble_Heart. "It is securely locked. I'm not familiar with the mechanism. We should wait for a bomb team to get down here first."
  89. [2016-10-26 15:35:10] * Noble_Heart frowned slightly and nodded her head, taking a position to watch. "It is concerning." She eyed Effigy carefully a few moments.
  90. [2016-10-26 15:41:29] * Golden_Dream swims towards consciousness. She doesn't really know when she got unconscious, she doesn't really know how long she was out, but she does know she can't feel her hind legs, she's a hot and sticky mess, and she's all cuddled up in a broom closet next to Mwana. So that's nice.
  91. [2016-10-26 15:42:35] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Golden_Dream's hot and sticky comfort is disturbed by the blood-curdling *scream*.
  92. [2016-10-26 15:44:56] <Mare-Do-Well> 3The cry rips through the air. Bookwright, Kifaa and those working with them, zebra pirate and Enclave soldiers alike, hear the scream as well.

[2016-10-26 15:46:25] <Golden_Dream> It's a testament to Golden Dream's unique mental state that she can be in a wonderful little bubble of happiness in one moment, and then armored up, shotgun out, and diving out of a broom closet the very next like a minutepony out of hell. "WHEREAUGHTHEFUCKARGLEBLARGLE." She manages.

  95. [2016-10-26 15:48:55] * Bookwright starts to look for the source.
  96. [2016-10-26 15:49:38] * Shatara is...busy.
  97. [2016-10-26 15:52:40] * CopyCat is startled out of her completely safe for work conversation with Star Dust by that scream. She wings the very short distance to Bookwright and the working zebra and pegasi while glancing around. "I- I don't suppose somepony just dropped a crate on their hoof and was very loud about it?" she asks, hopefully.
  98. [2016-10-26 15:53:37] * Golden_Dream /sprints/ at the source screeching like a bat that very narrowly avoided the cobweb trap coming up from Tartarus. SHE WAS HAPPY. SHE WAS HAPPY AND THIS FUCKER RUINED IT. SHE WAS GOING TO BLOW OFF LIMBS AND SEE IF THEY FIT IN THEIR VARIOUS ORIFACES.
  99. [2016-10-26 15:59:58] * Bookwright shakes his head sadly. "No. In fact, I feel like I'm in the first few pages of a mystery novel about a "murder most 'orrible", and we just heard the bloodcurdling scream of the victim."
  100. [2016-10-26 16:01:23] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Golden_Dream bursts out of the storage closet and almost immediately runs into the mare who screamed. She is cringing back, wide-eyed and terrified, at the ashen-white body in front of her.
  101. [2016-10-26 16:02:00] <Mare-Do-Well> 3The corpse is a pegasus, standing casually as if in conversation. Its mouth is even open; the lower part of the jaw is breaking apart, crumbling into fine powder on the floor.
  102. [2016-10-26 16:03:13] <Mare-Do-Well> 3The mare has one hoof pulled back to her chest. From her stance, it looks like she had just reached out to touch the other pegasus. Possibly on the left wing, which is crumbling and breaking apart into a nasty that is piling on the floor.
  103. [2016-10-26 16:04:32] * CopyCat sends out a mental pulse as she tries to locate any pony minds that weren't simply surprised by that loud scream, but shocked by witnessing what had caused it. It turns out she finds Golden_Dream's perspective. And she finds that perspective disturbing.
  104. [2016-10-26 16:04:44] * Golden_Dream screeches at the screaming mare and winds up accidentally creating a screaming pony tangle. She was screaming. The mare was screaming. Mwana was (probably) screaming.
  105. [2016-10-26 16:05:35] <Mare-Do-Well> 3The mare trembles, staring, locked in place, her own mouth still open from her scream. Then she turns and *bolts* down the hallway, blurring past Golden_Dream and the zebra colt coming up behind her. Mwana sees what Golden_Dream sees and screams as well.
  106. [2016-10-26 16:08:47] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Even beyond the scene itself, something in the room strike CopyCat as exceptionally wrong. Something out of the corner of Golden_Dream's eye. Or a trick of the light.
  107. [2016-10-26 16:09:52] <Mare-Do-Well> 3The corpse's face is now dissolving. The left wing breaks entirely off, turning into a cloud of dust as it hits the floor.
  108. [2016-10-26 16:11:01] * CopyCat takes a reflexive step back, her eyes wide as if viewing something horrible. "G-Golden_Dream has already found the source of the scream. Oh pony feathers, a Pegasus has been turned to ash! We must get to her, quickly!" CopyCat starts to dash off, hoping that Bookwright would follow, as she repeats the path Golden_Dream had taken Mwana down to reach their storage closet/love nest.
  109. [2016-10-26 16:11:37] * Bookwright mutters about murder most 'orrible as he follows CopyCat.
  110. [2016-10-26 16:15:06] * Golden_Dream 's eyes go wide and somewhere between panicked and murderous. "Mwana! Get behind me, get m' jumpsuit, and drag the crossbow out of it! There's a bunch'a glowin' bolts in there, grab one, load it in!"
  111. [2016-10-26 16:16:24] * CopyCat only notices the... /strangeness/ in the corner of Golden_Dream's eye after she'd started moving. Suddenly worried for her friend's safety, she tries to mentally reach out to the young mare. "Be careful Golden_Dream! Stay back, I saw something from the corner of your eye. A flicker of light, a danger? We are on our way!"
  112. [2016-10-26 16:25:27] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Golden_Dream soon finds a pre-loaded crossbow thrust at her.
  113. [2016-10-26 16:30:38] * mimezinga is totally unaware of whatever is going on, probably advertising stuff in a stall at the market
  114. [2016-10-26 16:31:12] * Shatara remains busy. There may be screaming involved, though.
  115. [2016-10-26 16:33:21] <Mare-Do-Well> 3CopyCat arrives on the scene moments later.
  116. [2016-10-26 16:36:52] * Golden_Dream takes the shotgun under one leg, the crossbow under the other, sits up onto her hind legs, does some gymnastics to put her shotgun away. "SO. Copycat. I was in there, mindin' me and Mwana's business, I hear a mare screaming, I start screaming, Mwana starts screaming, and there's a dead stallion.
  117. [2016-10-26 16:37:15] <Golden_Dream> "What's the plan, 'cause I don't got one."
  118. [2016-10-26 16:37:38] * Bookwright is right behind CopyCat. He's not sure what's happening, but he's got Pew-Pew out and ready.
  119. [2016-10-26 16:37:49] * CopyCat arrives a little out of breath (but not for the same reasons Mwana is out of breath) with Bookwright just behind her. She spots the crumbling pile of ex-pegasus and starts to look around carefully, her eyes darting this way and that. "Golden_Dream, plan is we look around very carefully for anything suspicious!"
  120. [2016-10-26 16:40:11] <Mare-Do-Well> 3In the infirmary, Major Tripwire enters, nodding to Noble_Heart before asking the medical mare, "Can you revive it? We need to ask it a few questions, and we cannot wait for natural healing to take its course."
  121. [2016-10-26 16:40:29] * Bookwright holsters the pistol. "Is that...? Goodness gracious. What the hell happened?"
  122. [2016-10-26 16:41:17] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Bookwright is just in time to see what is left of the body collapse into fine, grey dust.
  123. [2016-10-26 16:41:38] * Noble_Heart nods her head in return to the Major. Somewhat concerned about all of this. Also that they kept referring to the changeling as an 'it', but now was not the time for philosophical debates with the pegasi. Now was the time to find out what was going on.
  124. [2016-10-26 16:44:14] * Golden_Dream starts spasming. "I DON'T FUCKING KNOW, GET THE MILPO."

They would have slaughtered us all... but they weren't expecting Precious." He looks at Noble_Heart knowingly. "I don't think they knew what to do. So they took everyone captive instead."

Not that she couldn't guess, but she still felt the need to ask. "It seems we have a few more in need of a rescue than we expected. But that does not change our intent."

  143. [2016-10-26 17:21:00] * Noble_Heart nods her head and frowns. "We understand. We shall endeavour to keep it safe." She looks to Major Tripwire. "It seems the diplomatic approach did not fare well. Not that it is surprising. The Empire of Roam has spent at least decades cultivating the idea that they are supreme. It would not do for a foreign power of friendly relations to surface."
  144. [2016-10-26 17:27:31] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Major Tripwire scowls. "Not a surprise," he says to Noble_Heart. "Military action is usually required when dealing with fanatics." He staring at Effigy, he says, "Someone or something just killed one of our civilians. Turned him into powdered ash."
  145. [2016-10-26 17:28:29] <Mare-Do-Well> 3"I need to know if something hostile followed you to our city. Does that sound like the thing that took out the squad chasing you? Or do the changelings that chased you have a weapon like that?"

  151. [2016-10-26 17:40:20] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Golden_Dream soon finds Enclave soldiers (there are plenty in the area, it being an Enclave city and all). The nearest are talking to the panicked mare who had initially screamed then ran past Golden_Dream.

  153. [2016-10-26 17:43:18] * Shatara lifts off the Shadowbolt in search of the others, his armor and feathers looking quite disheveled, carrying an equally roughed-up zebra with him.
  154. [2016-10-26 17:43:28] * Noble_Heart ruffles her feathers and frowns. "We have heard tale from the Dragon Lands of zebras turned to light by Celestia's fury during the war. If they are within the valley they may have followed Effigy here. We have never seen one Ourself however, so have little insight on how best to fight them or even find them."
  155. [2016-10-26 17:47:38] * Golden_Dream panics and zooms towards the soldiers. "SOMETHIN' POWDERIZED SOMEPONY WHILE ME N' M' FRIEND WAS DOIN' THINGS IN THE CLOSET."
