  1. S-Link 5 - Twilight (N)
  2.
  3. Canterlot High Library
  4.
  5. You decide to spend some time with Twilight.
  6.
  7. As you cross the room, you notice that Twilight looks frazzled.
  8.
  9. More than she has lately, at least.
  10.
  11. In fact, she doesn't even notice you until you sit down across from her.
  12.
  13. Twilight: Ah!
  14.
  15. Twilight brings her book up to her chest, staring at you for several long seconds before recognition sets in.
  16.
  17. Twilight: Oh! [Player], it-it's just you.
  18.
  19. From the bags under her eyes, the fact that she's been burning the midnight oil lately is exceedingly obvious.
  20.
  21. Almost immediately after seeing you, Twilight turns back to her reading.
  22.
  23. >Option 1 - You're looking a little rough there.
  24. S-Link +0.6
  25. Twilight gives a small snort.
  26.
  27. Twilight: Is it that obvious?
  28.
  29. Twilight: These last few days have been pretty difficult.
  30.
  31. >Option 2 - Are you feeling OK?
  32. S-Link +0.2
  33. Twilight: Yeah. Great. Thanks
  34.
  35. This girl is completely unconvincing in her blatant lies.
  36.
  37. Twilight gives a heavy sigh.
  38.
  39. Twilight: ...I mean, not really.
  40.
  41. >Option 3 - What is going on, Twilight?
  42. S-Link +1
  43. Twilight: What does it look like? I'm trying to study.
  44.
  45. You continue to stare at Twilight and she forcefully closes her book before putting it down on the table.
  46.
  47. Twilight: Alright, maybe it's just just studying, but do you really care?
  48.
  49. You nod your head and watch as Twilight's expression softens.
  50.
  51. Twilight: Oh, well...
  52.
  53. Twilight remains quiet for a few moments, then finally begins to speak.
  54.
  55. Twilight: I thought a lot about what we talked about, with relation to Pinkie Pie?
  56.
  57. Twilight: And I realized that it's not just her that I miss; it's all of my friends.
  58.
  59. Twilight: So I've decided to do something about it.
  60.
  61. Twilight: I decided to come up with a away that will let me maximize the time I have with my friends.
  62.
  63. Her lips curl upwards as she pulls out a day planner and places it in front of you.
  64.
  65. You give it a look over.
  66.
  67. 12:00 a.m. - 6:00 a.m.: Sleep
  68. 6:00 a.m. - 8:00 a.m.: Paper Research
  69. 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.: Schoolwork
  70. 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m.: Homework
  71. 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.: Schoolwork
  72. 3:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.: Homework/Exam Preparation
  73. 8:00 p.m. - 12:00 a.m.: Paper Research/Writing
  74.
  75. You look up at Twilight with an uncertain frown.
  76.
  77. >Option 1 - How is this any different from the usual?
  78. S-Link +0.6
  79. Twilight visibly flinches at your question.
  80.
  81. Twilight: Well, of course it's different; before my structure was a lot looser.
  82.
  83. Twilight: Now I have every hour of my day planned out, and I know exactly what I need to be doing, at any time.
  84.
  85. Twilight: More structure means I can devote my time that much more precisely.
  86.
  87. Twilight: Trust me, it's perfect.
  88.
  89. >Option 2 - You can't be serious.
  90. S-Link +0.2
  91. Twilight: What? Of course I'm serious!
  92.
  93. Despite the attempt at assurance, Twilight quickly looks over the chart again.
  94.
  95. Pursing her lips, she looks thoughtful, and then takes out a pen.
  96.
  97. Twilight: Although, you do have a point. I haven't fully mapped out my REM sleep patterns...
  98.
  99. Twilight: I might be able to get away with less than six hours of sleep.
  100.
  101. Twilight: I'll need to test that a bit more to be sure.
  102.
  103. >Option 3 - This is a terrible idea.
  104. S-Link +1
  105. Twilight looks at you in surprise.
  106.
  107. Twilight: [Player]... I mean, I know it's a lot, but you can't just say that.
  108.
  109. Twilight: Getting into the McGuffin Program is important to me, and so are my friends.
  110.
  111. Twilight: I've done the math and this is the most effective use of my time right now.
  112.
  113. Twilight takes a good hard look at the schedule.
  114.
  115. Twilight: ...even if it does seem a little overwhelming...
  116.
  117. She dons a pained smile.
  118.
  119. Twilight: I bet you think that's silly; I mean, I have a chance to chase my dreams-
  120.
  121. Twilight: -and instead I'm regretting not being able to spend time with my friends.
  122.
  123. Twilight gives a strained laugh and shakes her head.
  124.
  125. Twilight: I'm so wound up that I can't even think straight, but I can't stop moving forward either.
  126.
  127. Twilight: I'm just, stuck.
  128.
  129. There's a pause, and then a she looks up to you with hope shining in her eyes.
  130.
  131. Twilight: Have you got any outside perspective that you can offer?
  132.
  133. Unfortunately, even after wracking your brain, you've got nothing to offer. You tell her as much.
  134.
  135. Twilight's shoulders sag and she buries her face in her hands. She stays quiet for a long while, then speaks in a soft, pained voice.
  136.
  137. Twilight: [Player], I like having you around, but I don't think you should come to the library anymore.
  138.
  139. Twilight: Please don't think it's me pushing you away...
  140.
  141. Twilight: Oh, who am I kidding; it's exactly that.
  142.
  143. Twilight: But I really need to focus on this.
  144.
  145. You nod and gather your things. As you move to the door, Twilight calls out again:
  146.
  147. Twilight: If you do come up with something that could help, let me know? It doesn't look like I'm going anywhere anytime soon...
  148.
  149. Another nod is the best you can manage. It doesn't provide either of you with any comfort.
