  2. But, well, many of them
  3. Man I wish cave still made games
  4. ;_;
  5.
  6. sp0thssToday at 1:15 AM
  7. ;__;
  8. we just have to admit that public interest in stg is too low ;__;
  9.
  10. this is ryToday at 1:52 AM
  11. Hmm, I think STG might have a resurgence at some point
  12. Its hard to say
  13.
  14. Toksyczny KochanekToday at 1:54 AM
  15. It wont
  16. There’s no way a genre like stg could ever have a resurgence in the utterly sterilised modern day where if a thing takes more than 2 attempts 99.9% of people will drop it
  17.
  18. sp0thssToday at 1:56 AM
  19. sad but probably true
  20.
  21. 栄光の余映Today at 2:00 AM
  22. maybe if Toby Fox suddenly shilled touhou for a whole year or smt then we'd get more 2hu peeps who might then play stgs proper
  23. but it's likelier that that wouldnt create more stg players; it'd just create more secondaries
  24. :niwatari_chicken:
  25.
  26. Toksyczny KochanekToday at 2:01 AM
  27. Yes
  28.
  29. GhostToday at 2:22 AM
  30. I mean eventually everything will circle back around
  31. And people will get bored of instant gratification
  32.
  33. this is ryToday at 2:27 AM
  34. That's what I think ghost
  35. I mean, just look at the WoW classic phenomenon - it's basically a massive middle finger by gamers to modern mmo design
  36. I think we are gonna see a shift at some point
  37. Plus, I don't think STG as a community is dying, I think it's pretty much in a plateau atm
  38. And usually that's a good sign that the community is stable i.e. there isn't gonna be a drop off
  39.
  40. sp0thssToday at 2:30 AM
  41. modern mmo is definitely inferior
  42. p2w bad
  43.
  44. Toksyczny KochanekToday at 2:30 AM
  45. Wow classic will probably die down within a few months
  46.
  47. this is ryToday at 2:30 AM
  48. It wont
  49. There's no evidence to suggest that
  50.
  51. Toksyczny KochanekToday at 2:31 AM
  52. Theres only so much you can do in an updateless mmo before theres nothing left
  53.
  54. this is ryToday at 2:31 AM
  55. All the content isn't going to be available for a while
  56. They're staggering the release
  57. I imagine over a 2 year period
  58.
  59. sp0thssToday at 2:32 AM
  60. I mean, its an inherent problem of mmo games
  61.
  62. Toksyczny KochanekToday at 2:32 AM
  63. Wait so its not full vanilla wow?
  64.
  65. this is ryToday at 2:33 AM
  66. Only MC and Onyxia is available at launch
  67. PvP isn't in Launch, Dire Maul isn't in Launch
  68. As in, PvP system
  69. PvP is ofc in there
  70. Battlegrounds only get released months after the pvp system gets released too
  71. Classic WoW wont last forever sure, but I think it's really important
  72. I think it's gonna give big triple A companies a kick up the ass
  73.
  74. GhostToday at 2:35 AM
  75. I mean just in general you can tell people are getting tired of modern microtransaction filled AAA stuff
  76.
  77. Toksyczny KochanekToday at 2:35 AM
  78. Gaming reddit says that sure but they still swallow it anyway
  79.
  80. this is ryToday at 2:35 AM
  81. Though, as yahtzee from zero punctuation put it, we're on a verge of a videogame revolution
  82.
  83. GhostToday at 2:35 AM
  84. And there will probably be more laws coming down on lootboxes as time goes on
  85.
  86. Toksyczny KochanekToday at 2:35 AM
  87. Unless people actually boycott it then nothings going to change
  88.
  89. this is ryToday at 2:36 AM
  90. Things are changing, they just take time. it's not an overnight thing or anything.
  91.
  92. Toksyczny KochanekToday at 2:36 AM
  93. All i’ve seen is meaningless platitudes and shit like the latest asscreed or battlefront 2 making just as much money as they always do
  94.
  95. this is ryToday at 2:36 AM
  96. Big companies are losing a lot of their investors
  97.
  98. GhostToday at 2:36 AM
  99. I mean overwatch is dying right
  100. Thats something
  101.
  102. Toksyczny KochanekToday at 2:37 AM
  103. Thats hardly because of the lootboxes
  104.
  105. GhostToday at 2:37 AM
  106. I mean its part of it
  107.
  108. Toksyczny KochanekToday at 2:37 AM
  109. Its because blizard is a shit company and puts out 1 update every trillion years
  110. They’ve only added a handful of chars and maps since launch
  111.
  112. sp0thssToday at 2:37 AM
  113. :hahaa:
  114.
  115. GhostToday at 2:37 AM
  116. Constant updates are part of the problem
  117.
  118. sp0thssToday at 2:37 AM
  119. ^
  120.
  121. GhostToday at 2:37 AM
  122. How do you fund constant development
  123. Without microtransactions
  124. This meme of like
  125.
  126. this is ryToday at 2:38 AM
  127. Subscription model was unironically good
  128. Imo
  129.
  130. GhostToday at 2:38 AM
  131. Omg i paid full price for my game why should i pay more
  132.
  133. sp0thssToday at 2:38 AM
  134. I think esport-type games should have more stable versions
  135. rather than constant updates
  136.
  137. GhostToday at 2:38 AM
  138. Then also complaining about not getting constant updates to your game youre not putting more money into
  139. Subscription models are top tier
  140.
  141. Toksyczny KochanekToday at 2:39 AM
  142. Next gen graphics were a mistake
  143.
  144. this is ryToday at 2:39 AM
  145. Especially because subscription models are very pro consumer. Even in retail wow, when people don't like the game they unsub quite fast and the wow team fucking panics and makes sure to fix whatever has pissed off the playerbase
  146. Graphics are annoying tbh
  147.
  148. GhostToday at 2:40 AM
  149. Overpriced dlc was just the precursor to microtransactions
  150. Which is the best way to milk consumers
  151.
  152. this is ryToday at 2:40 AM
  153. I want the days of expansion sets again
  154.
  155. Toksyczny KochanekToday at 2:40 AM
  156. Next gen graphics are legit probably one of the worst things to happen to vidya next to micro transactions
  157.
  158. GhostToday at 2:40 AM
  159. Subscription models are way more fair and can also sustain constant development but like
  160. Theyre less profitable than the lootbox meme
  161. So
  162.
  163. sp0thssToday at 2:40 AM
  164. subscription model is the best
  165.
  166. GhostToday at 2:41 AM
  167. Gotta either wait for law to change
  168. Or consumers to wise up
  169. But you only need a minority to whale
  170.
  171. this is ryToday at 2:41 AM
  172. ^
  173.
  174. Toksyczny KochanekToday at 2:41 AM
  175. It’ll have to be the former
  176.
  177. this is ryToday at 2:41 AM
  178. Whales are a fucking cancer
  179. Can we just bitcoin fund the assassination of whales
  180. I think we need a new totalbiscuit, despite what some people think of him he did a lot to educate consumers
  181.
  182. GhostToday at 2:42 AM
  183. I mean whales arent the problem its the devs deliberately profiting off them thats the problem
  184.
  185. Toksyczny KochanekToday at 2:42 AM
  186. Its both
  187.
  188. GhostToday at 2:42 AM
  189. Without whales the games wouldnt exist
  190. In their current formats
  191. Cos thats how theyre monetized
  192. Hearthstone would die
  193. It should die
  194. But still
  195.
  196. sp0thssToday at 2:43 AM
  197. p2w system is the biggest mistake in gaming history
  198.
  199. GhostToday at 2:43 AM
  200. For profit gaming is the issue
  201. like
  202. Profit motive just leads to exploiting consumers being the #1 goal
  203. Rather than consumer fun
  204.
  205. sp0thssToday at 2:44 AM
  206. ;__;
  207. no fun allowed
  208.
  209. GhostToday at 2:44 AM
  210. Nobody likes microtransactions but theyre the most profitable way to monetise your consumers
  211.
  212. this is ryToday at 2:44 AM
  213. Hmm, I think profit gaming isn't the issue, I think it's a few particular individuals not understanding how you want to monetise shit.
  214. For example
  215.
  216. GhostToday at 2:45 AM
  217. What do you mean
  218. They understand perfectly
  219. lol
  220.

  222. it makes money
  223.

  226.
  227. CrestedToday at 2:45 AM
  228. so they so it
  229. lmao
  230.
  231. this is ryToday at 2:45 AM
  232. Well they're going to get a backlash
  233. It's a short term strategy
  234. Maybe medium term
  235.
  236. CrestedToday at 2:45 AM
  237. who cares about backlash if you keep the dough rolling
  238.
  239. this is ryToday at 2:45 AM
  240. But it's certainly not a long term strategy
  241.
  242. GhostToday at 2:45 AM
  243. Yea thats how all companies work
  244.
  245. sp0thssToday at 2:45 AM
  246. again, sad but true
  247.
  248. this is ryToday at 2:45 AM
  249. The backlash is noticeable economically
  250.
  251. GhostToday at 2:46 AM
  252. Maximising short term value for shareholders to gain a greater leverage over the market you can exploit for more profit
  253. lol
  254. See epic
  255.
  256. CrestedToday at 2:46 AM
  257. public opinion be damned, those kids and tired moms won't know or care about how many microtransactions we put into football game
  258.
  259. Toksyczny KochanekToday at 2:46 AM
  260. I dont think gaming can ever go back to how it used to be, not since it got popular among a more mainstream crowd
  261.
  262. GhostToday at 2:46 AM
  263. Putting everything on their store

  273.
  274. GhostToday at 2:47 AM
  275. Idk
  276. Whats long term here
  277.
  278. CrestedToday at 2:47 AM

  286. lol
  287.
  288. CrestedToday at 2:48 AM
  289. we can only hope that some companies and some games remain free from that shit from the community's voices and publishers' conscience
  290. it's sad but it's become common for the initial reaction to any game reveal to be
  291.
  292. GhostToday at 2:49 AM
  293. Just look to indie shit
  294. For actually fun games
  295.
  296. CrestedToday at 2:49 AM
  297. "don't add microtransactions"

  300. GhostToday at 2:50 AM
  301. Epic exclusivity is so overblown
  302.
  303. CrestedToday at 2:50 AM
  304. literally the KSP2 reveal had such reactions
  305.
  306. GhostToday at 2:50 AM
  307. tbh
  308. I dont use
  309.
  310. CrestedToday at 2:50 AM
  311. and thankfully the publishers seem to listen to the community here
  312.

  316. this is ryToday at 2:50 AM
  317. There is a lot of power in having goodwill with your consumers. Banks do this a lot because they know they are better taking a loss in the short term to make money in the long term as if they don't treat you like shit they have you for life, cus it's really easy to switch banks. I think game developers really need to start doing this sort of thing again - fostering loyalty is profitable and you can only gain solid loyalty by good business practices.
  318.
  319. GhostToday at 2:50 AM
  320. People complain epic doesnt have
  321. lol
  322.
  323. CrestedToday at 2:51 AM
  324. the thing about ksp community is that the steam workshop is very powerful there
  325.
  326. GhostToday at 2:51 AM
  327. @this is ry the mistake here is youre treating companies like people
  328. Theres no bond
  329. Between you and a company
  330. There never has been
  331.
  332. Toksyczny KochanekToday at 2:51 AM

  524. Tbh it's not impossible he got to ask another question
  525. The lines for questions are first come first serve
  526. If you want to ask a question, you have to really want to ask a question
  527. An example is the original red shit guy
  528. For wow
  529. Asked a question in many blizcons
  530. But apparently he had to optimize getting in the line each time
  531. So despite him being a 'fan favourite' he didn't actually get preferential treatment despite what the casual observer thought
  532. So this shill is probably just a super dedicated diablo fan who really wanted to ask questions
  533. Tbh we need more game companies like from soft
  534. But lmao
  535.

  568. But I don't think it's too far from the truth

  590. GhostToday at 3:22 AM
  591. Even indie devs pump more money into comp scene than nintendo
  592. Fuck off nintendo
  593.
