Ed has tachycardia, a heart condition characterised by a constantly increase heart rate. He has seen a cardiologist(heart specialist) for this and they believe it is benign(completely harmless), however have recommended general good practices, such as reducing caffeine intake, and increasing water consumption. However extremely high heart rates such as those seen when he is under high stress, still have adverse negative effects such as shortness of breath etc.
