  ┊He was born and grew up in the hometown of Gwangju to a family of three children, Hyunbin is the eldest with a younger brother and sister. Hyunbin has always been supported by his parents and for the longest time, they knew that Hyunbin wanted to become an artist in the industry and they supported him. It didn’t matter to them if he became a rapper or an idol, they loved him no matter what.

The reason why they were so supportive was because ever since Hyunbin was young, they exposed him to all sorts of music as his mother was a music student in university and his father was a medical degree loved music which was why he met Hyunbin’s mother.

Anyways, Hyunbin always loved his younger siblings and protected them when bad things happened because they had a special spot in his heart as his family and they never had much trouble between themselves. In school, Hyunbin always had his friends to be around until he moved to Seoul to attend a Performing Arts school because by then, he grew a full passion for music.

Hyunbin ended up in Pledis because when he was in his second year of high school, he had auditioned at many companies to become a singer. He did get accepted by some of them but he ended up choosing Pledis because they would let him compose his own music and find his own music style that could eventually be used for the group that he debuted in.

〔 FATHER LIKE 〕
Hyunbin is very similar to a dad, to the other members whether they are girls or boys. He doesn’t like it when the other members wear inappropriate clothes and do inappropriate dances because he feels like they have to protect their images. When they forget about their image by doing inappropriate things, then that is when his father like self comes into the scene. He doesn’t really get angry at them for doing it, he just simply tells the members to stop (if dancing) or he tries to get a blanket to cover the girls who are wearing skirts that are too short.

〔 QUIET 〕
Even though Hyunbin is in charge of the talking during introductions and interviews, he is very quiet in general. In VLives/livestreams, he doesn’t talk much but he tries his best to talk so that he can have conversations with other members. However, it is hard for him to open up and tell the members all his secrets because he has a barrier and lines that shouldn’t be crossed. He is quite an introvert so he doesn’t like to be in places where he is very close to people physically. He prefers to isolate himself and be deep in his own thoughts.

〔 LOOKS SCARY AND IS QUITE SCARY 〕
Hyunbin has a visual that looks very intimidating and scary, making everyone around him feel a bit uncomfortable. He is quite hard to open up to because he prefers to keep things to himself. He has never really attempted to dye his hair bright colours, so when he covers some of his face with his dark hair, it can really scare many. He doesn’t have many emotions that he shows as he likes to use that emotion in his music and also because he is quite mysterious.

〔 DON’T GET ON HIS BAD SIDE 〕
One thing that all the members know is to never get on his bad side. He can turn into a monster and he can end up swearing when he is really riled up. He is quiet so some may not even know that he had that side to him, but his stare can burn through someone. When he is angry, he becomes very aggressive and he doesn’t stop until he has fully gotten his feelings out. Even though he usually lets it out, he also tries to let it out by writing lyrics or freestyling a rap because that is when his emotions are shown the best.

〔 IMPATIENT〕
Hyunbin is quite impatient, he doesn’t like to wait. He prefers to be alone and when he is forced to wait for someone, it is something that can make him hate it. If someone takes too long, he isn’t afraid to just ditch them and get going by himself. He has always disciplined himself to be on time and it doesn’t matter if he leaves the others behind. Because of this, other members have become aware and they try their best to be quick so that he doesn’t ditch them. His impatience is one of his biggest flaws and he doesn’t realise it because he is in his own world most of the time.

〔 PERFECTIONIST 〕
He may not look like it, but Hyunbin is a big perfectionist. He works on something until he is satisfied with it and he is very meticulous. When it comes to composing and writing lyrics, he can spend full nights just working on songs because he feels like there are so many ideas that rush to him when he is sitting in the studio. Sometimes when he is listening to a demo, he may be able to get the rhythm of the song in one try however, he works on it until he perfects it. He prefers to take his time and not be rushed by anyone and everyone who knows him very well would understand how much effort he puts into being able to perfect something so that he can proudly present it.

〔 STICKS TO HIS MORALS 〕
Hyunbin has always stuck to his morals, he knows how he wants to live his life and he knows what he stands up for. No one can convince him that is something isn’t right because his morals and beliefs come first. The morals are very big that it may sound stupid that he sticks to them but they are the little things in his life like, family always comes first and honesty is always the best policy. He thinks that this is his best trait about him because he is able to live life confidently, knowing what he wants to do.

〔 RATIONAL 〕
Hyunbin is probably the most rational person, a person could meet. As the leader of TEEN REPLAY, he knows what can help them improve during their performances. He relies more on the things that he already knows to make a decision than gut feeling. Hyunbin believes that if he lets his emotions get in the way, the result can end up not being how he wanted it to be. He always does his research before doing something, like buying something that he isn’t sure if he needs or going to a restaurant. He is always on the dot and very careful of what he does.

〔 PASSIONATE FOR MUSIC 〕
Hyunbin is nothing but passionate for music, he loves all sorts of music and he isn’t afraid to explore the different worlds of music. He takes his music very seriously and he is always researching about famous songwriters and composers to admire them for their work. He admires the beauty of music and he feels the most happy in the studio, writing songs. He is quiet so he tries to spread important messages in his music, particularly aiming for students who are having to go through the constant days of studying and being number one. Because he is so passionate about music, he even has a small tattoo that is on his neck, slightly lower than the ear of a music note. He got that tattoo because he wanted to remember how much he loves music.

He takes many selfies with the other members however, not very often by himself. So members that haven’t uploaded a picture of themselves in a long time, he does the work for them.

Even Hyunbin hates it, he sometimes acts cute at fanmeetings just to please the fans who have been wanting him to act cute. He usually ends up hiding behind a member or he gets his chair out and is ready to jump off a cliff. When it is another member, he is ready to protect them which is what fans love because they love it when he is acting like a dad to the members.

He occasionally writes songs for fans and uploads them onto Soundcloud when he has time. Sometimes, he sings by himself or he gets the other members to feature in the songs. The songs are usually about thanking the fans or telling them that they have worked hard.

I don’t know if this counts as fanservice, but Hyunbin always remembers his fans’ faces so when he sees them at a fanmeeting, he always greets them by their names since he remembers them. If it is someone who he sees very often, he would ask them how their day was and if they liked the comeback.

At fanmeetings, he also takes photos of himself with fans so that he can keep them as memories. He has a folder in his phone that is dedicated to fans whether it is photos with them or screenshots of things they have done for the group, he keeps them and sometimes uploads them on his Instagram account and thanks them.

On his birthday, days he is feeling good or on very special days such as debut anniversaries, he replies to fans’ messages. He normally answers questions that fans have been asking, it doesn’t matter if it is on the day he uploads something or not, he is willing to answer their questions and even asks them questions about how their days have been. Maybe there is one scene where one of the members feels unsure of wanting to be an idol anymore and ends up talking to Hyunbin and he comforts them. The member/s feel uncertain of if the idol world is right for them and they had thoughts of wanting to leave. Hyunbin who understands why they would think in such a way, tells them that it will eventually get easier as it will become apart of their daily routine. This can show that even though Hyunbin may not be the most open person, it is his responsibility to look after the members and comfort them as a leader and a member who cares about them.

One of the members ends up being a scandal and it is creating a lot of buzz and netizens are hating on the group now. Hyunbin, as the leader, tries to resolve the situation that is going on. He does get angry at the member and intimidates them because he is so aggressive. However, he calms down and tries his best to get the member out of the scandal so that it doesn't put the group in such a reputation. This can show his scary side that should never be encountered but it also shows his responsibility as a leader and how he tries to make the situation even the slightest bit better.

There can be a scene where Hyunbin is in the studio and he is reading hate comments that the group has received from their debut and he decides to use it as inspiration to write a song. This can be expressed in the lyrics and how the group will use the hate to become stronger because everyone has flaws and everyone gets hate at least once in their lives. This will show Hyunbin’s style of working in the studio and how he writes his music as he cares a lot for his music and how it represents himself and the group.

There could also be a scene where at some sort of concert (maybe debut showcase or tour), Hyunbin sees his family in the audience and he thanks them multiple times. He expresses his love for them and how much he appreciates their support for his love for music. It will show a different side to him, a more softer side that isn’t very commonly seen when he is around the members and fans. Like he is very proud of his family, his younger siblings and his parents and he wants to show the world how much he loves them.
