  1. Hi,
  2.
  3. I read with great interest your recent paper in Catalysis Communications entitled "Photocatalytic reduction of CO2 on FeTiO3/TiO2 photocatalyst". I find this work extremely interesting as it ties in closely with my own work on photochemical CO2 reduction.
  4.
  5. When i was reading your paper i came up with a few questions that i don't feel were addressed fully.
  6.
  7. 1) What is the role of the sodium carbonate in the photlyzed solution?
  8. 2) How can we determine that the reduction products are not from the sodium bicarbonate, when your proposed mechanism starts from bicarbonate species?
  9. 3) If the mechanism starts from carbonic acid then discussion of relative rates of carbonic acid formation from gaseous CO2 should be important, yet no mention is made of these kinetics
  10.
  11. I would be most interested to hear if you have, as yet, unpublished data that could allay my fears and bolster your position that a true photochemical carbon dioxide reduction is occurring.
  12.
  13. Thank you for your time.
