  1.
  2. [Mistwood Forest]
  3. The path winds back and forth between tall, thin conifers that tower toward the sky, allowing only dappled patches of moonlight to filter through to the forest floor. An occasional thick-trunked oak or graceful stands of birch compete for light and nutrients with the faster-growing pines.

  10. You run northeast.

  12. [Mistwood Forest]
  13. A rocky outcropping juts up from the forest floor, surrounded by a tangle of briars along the base. The trail ends here. Bristly shrubs cling to the almost vertical surface in a triumph of faith over gravity, but appear too fragile to bear the weight of even the lightest Gnome.
  14. Next move: climb wall
  15. Obvious paths: southwest.

  20. You search around, closely examining a rocky outcropping. Nodding in satisfaction, you find some irregular handholds!

  27. [Mistwood Forest]
  28. Narrow cracks in the rock wall provide precarious hand- and footholds as you climb. Sharp-leafed shrubs cling tenaciously to the surface, their roots threading fragile tendrils into almost invisible cracks in their search for water.
  29. You also see some irregular handholds leading down to the forest floor.
  30. Next move: north
  31. Obvious paths: none.

  38. [Mistwood Forest]
  39. At the top of a rocky outcropping, you can look down onto a thicket of menacing briars. No way down is readily apparent, and the thought of dropping thrice the height of a Gor'Tog into the thorns is really not something a sane person would wish to entertain.
  40. Next move: objsearch ledge climb shrub
  41. Obvious paths: north.

  49. You run north.
  50.
  51. [Mistwood Forest]
  52. Clusters of river birch grow in pale grey stands along the edge of the clearing. Beyond, the forest looms, tall and dark. Mossy green vines dangle from overhanging limbs, modestly concealing the tree's trunk from view and masking the approach of anything that might be moving within the woods. It's impossible to see which way to go to find the path in the forest.
  53. You also see a rocky ledge.

  61. You search around, closely examining a rocky ledge. Nodding in satisfaction, you find some sturdy shrubs clinging to the rock face!

  63. [Mistwood Forest, Rocky Outcropping]
  64. The rock face angles outward above the ledge, making it impossible to climb past this point. Below, you can see the deer paths' meandering track through the forest, twisting and turning in a logic known only to the deer.
  65. Next move: north
  66. Obvious paths: down.
