Ryder grew up in Toronto, Canada, and found pride in protecting people. At first, he looked out for people at school, returning things that were stolen. Then, he hunted down bullies and put them in their place. He enjoyed the recognition and decided to take it to a new level, leaving school early to join the military, where he excelled. He was later invited to join the JTF2.

Ryder relishes in the limelight. He loves being praised and complimented, but only for things that he deems worthy, which he thinks lies in his actions. He doesn't enjoy compliments on shallow things like looks and is dismissive of these compliments.

One of the more primitive weapons that features in the CRT, Crash's Battle Axe is still a nasty and very deadly weapon. The Battle Axe can be used to destroy walls and kill, and does more damage the less health Crash has.
