The Fall of Zelkies

*Zelkies || In the tailend of the battle, the moment he noticed Redtail preparing her powerful Dodompa, Zelkies understood. And in the moment he understood the attack about to strike him he immediatelly returned to his full power.

The scalding flames of the attack tore through his Scarlet Needle and seared into his flesh, bringing him closer to kneeling than he did ever...

...and yet, with a mighty combination, he overwhelms even that. The more hurt he appears to be, the more he appears to simply shrug off the damage and dish out even more in return. The modifications the Capsule provided seemed to focus on one particular thing - drawing the human spirit to the fullest.

By accepting that pain he continues to push towards his dream.

And yet that dream seems to lead to destruction of brave warriors. Maybe not asking if a dream is worth the sacrifices is also part of human nature?*
Zhang Ge lowers their shield...
*Zero wasn't going to waste time on his lesser stages against someone like Zelkies. They were beyond compare and anything short of his third form was an insult to a warrior like them. He'd erupt with power, rapidly shifting into his third stage, an overwhelming glow of intimidating power washing over the battlefield.

"You two did well. Rest in comfort knowing you'll be the last to fall. "

He'd step forward, eyeing the Gold Saint. They were a monster alright- and just as a Human. He'd heard stories of how a similar man killed one of his kin in he past.

"I'll finish what my most loyal soldier started."

Zero dropped the replica shell of Kusanagi from his left hand, dawning a different blade- Dainsleif. He'd allow it to finish feeding on the prey it yerned for, even if in a different hand. With both Muramasa and the Sword of Ruin, he'd shatter Zelkies, both their cloth and their body with merciless power and efficiency.

"You've done well, but this is the end, General!" The gateways opened and a storm of swords would rain over Zelkies, this time all aimed for that man alone!*

*Taku held both blades at his side, who would have though he'd fight with Zero?  though that didn't matter at this moment as he watched people close to him die.

He didn't let his anger get the best of him, he needed to remain focus to ensure that everyone will survive. This could be the final push or maybe a sweet end Taku wouldn't know, but he'd fight with everything he had.

He'd smile towards Diana briefly there wern't many words to be said, but he know that she'd survive it all.

Taku focued his attention back on Zelkies ready to end this war finally he'd give it all standing with Zero.*
*Natalia Redtail goes down fighting, just like she said she would. Not giving up, even as her loud battle cries go silent when the needles pierce her throat. Not giving in, even as the needles strike her lungs. She keeps shooting and swinging and stabbing at Zelkies. Bullets make impact. Her combat knife buries itself into his flesh. She puts all of her might into her favorite attack, and what results it gets...

I gave it my all. Despite everything, despite the repayment I got for all my service... I hope I was useful to you, Oasis.

As she waits for the end, she just smiles up at Zelkies. A single tear is shed as she drops her spirit gun, letting it fall to the sand.

Wait for me, Kali. I don't know if I'll remember anything, or if I'll even recognize you, but I'll be back around... don't you worry about that... raise Ida right...

She closes her eyes and waits for the final blow. The same final blow Daisuke likely felt under his hand.

In the end, she had come to understand Zelkies. He, too, wanted happiness for everybody. To protect the weak from the cruel.

He was just doing it in such a way that she never would have. Or could have.*

"Natalia....Xochi...I ...I'm not going to...let this man get away with this...I swear it...even if it costs me my life." they said as they were steeling themselves emotionally, to see if they could handle the death.

"I...I promise Nat...I swear....I promise....but if I die here.....I...i'll see you soon." they said as they started to tremble a bit.*

*Xochi appears to have been laid out before one of her students and  her daughter. But by some miracle, Xochi still had just barely any strength left to speak, but she will damn sure try.

She's growing numb, her pupils are beginning to dilate. She can't see anymore, its already getting dark for her.

"D-Diana...S-S-Sasha...I...Can't see you two...But...I can smell ya...Heh..." She coughs in severe pain. Her limbs shook, fighting back her body's dying will to pass on, but all her fighting is truly just holding back the inevitable as the fight only grew harder.

"I...Am sorry...I wasn't...Gonna be able....To see my grandkittens...And...I'm sorry, Sasha...That I couldn't teach you...Everything you...Needed to know..." She's coughing.

Her heart's beginning to stop as her arm's stopped struggling.

"But...When...I'm...Gone...Please...Do not...Let my death...Break you...Or change you...For the worst...Do not...Cry for me...Thank you...Thank you...Iratu...Mono...Ray...Injala, Malria...You all...Were my family...For so long...I felt alone...But you all...Helped me find the strength....To keep living...." She smiled.

Her words started to fade out, her hand suddenly regained the will to reach for Diana's forehead to poke it.

"I guess...I am...Content with dying...Like this...In my own child's arms...What an...Honor..." Her hand slowly slipped down, collapsing as Xochi closes her eyes for the last time with a smile.*

*Diana feels her mothers touch on her forehead for the last time... her tomoes fading away as her heart shatters in her chest.. ironic how her mother warned against letting her death change her, when the reason she awoke to her cursed eyes was because of her death the first time..."I won't let you be forgotten.."

Tears filled the brims of her eyes, as she crouches down, to get one last look at her mothers face.. happy and serene in death. Choking back her tears, she rises back up to her feet, her breath heavy and her body shaking.. This was it.. the last time she'd ever interact with her mother...

breathing in shaky, ragged breaths, her tomoe return, as she stares at Zelkies.. the Monster who finally brought her down...  Utter hatred and fury burning in her eyes...

"How...can you tell me not to cry....how can you...I-!" She watches the life slowly fade from her eyes...

"No! Xochi, ...gods damn it!" The shaking female screams aloud and begins to sob uncontrollably...

Unlike Diana, Sasha was unable to control her emotions,...she was not as strong...

*Kali Calloway trembles a bit as he watched the final blow dealt to his wife, the sudden shock made him hunch forward, his body shaking as he glanced at Natalia with major sorrow in his eyes.

He wanted to die along side his wife through natural means...not watch her die to the one who killed his childhood friend, tears started to swell up in the corners of his eyes. "No...no god dammit no!" he screamed as he stumbled forward with his hand outstretched to Natalia.

His first instinct was to try to resuscitate her, in a moment of desperation as he started to perform CPR and shock her chest with his built in ability to generate electricity. "Natalia wake up dammit, this can't be the end for you...think of our daughter!" they'd exclaim in grief as he kept trying, for now he wasn't going to rush at Zelkies he was going to try to bring his wife back from the brink of death.

IF and when it failed Kali would lean down to hug onto her body tightly, trembling as tears dripped from his cheeks, it was soo difficult for his body to naturally produce tears like this but his grief was overwhelming, he'd shoot his glare at Zelkies as the Kamui on his body started to flare up and wave like wind was blowing through it.

Suddenly Kali's clothing would burst in a flash of light before slapping back down onto his body, taking a rather revealing form over his body, leaving pretty much nothing to the imagination. "ZELKIEEEEESSS, YOU'RE...GOING TO PAY FOR THIS, FIRST YOU TAKE MY FRIEND NOW YOU TAKE MY WIFE!!" he screamed as he'd sharpen his resolve, prepared to fight Zelkies with every last ounce of strength he had, even if it left his body dry.*

*Zelkies was being pushed against the wall more and more. The monstrous force delivered by the werewolf swordsman shook the already dying general to the core and left him expecting his demise at any point. He seen only one chance for himself but that required landing his Scarlet Needle, something that didn't seem possible against an opponent this speedy.

And yet it happened - the sting of a Scorpio reached the body of the wolf many times, leaving their veins filled with flame and their senses weakened. But what was most important...

...was the pattern. With fourteen crimson stars gathered, only one could shine the Genral's path to victory any longer.

"Scarlet Needle... Antares!"

The next strike aimed at Anaz ignites with Cosmo, reaching the universal speed limit in an instant. A line of crimson thunder that aims to leave its final mark upon his body and spell his immediate demise. A mark of lethal desperation, the only thing still fueling Zelkies' body.*

But even they were still human, and thus, was no different to Hiten Mitsurugi-Ryu.

*Zelkies managed to seal the battle with his signature move - but the cost of the clash itself left him on the brink of death. Feeling the end of his life coming, he feels both a sense of dread and an odd satisfaction at being able to accomplish so much in a single lifetime.

But that satisfaction is a trap. If he allows himself to welcome oblivion right now, there was still too many opponents standing. So he'll do everything that has to be done.

Anaz' body is destroyed with another burst of Cosmo. Then, he looks at the remaining fighters and... calls upon his soldiers.

"Men. Cover my retreat."*
Diana yells: FUCKING HELL NO!!!
Zero says: Ha...Slaughter them.
*Anaz feels the pain envelop him.

But with what little strength he had left, he still remained. He attempted to fight. He attempted to preserve. But it wasn't enough. Even with this desperate need to kill, he was still not enough to kill Zelkies. Not enough to fight...

And then, he collapses.

He can't move.

He can't function.

His eyesight was fading away, not because of the effects of the infamous needle, but because for the first time in his life, Anaz was truly and irreversibly dying.

And yet, he feels fine with this. He doesn't feel regret, nor does he feel sorrow. He knew what he was getting into, and he embraced it. He didn't care for what happened afterwards, because he had already met his goals in life. He was fine with this...

He turns towards Gousen, and with what little of his strength, he raises a sword...

And fades away with a burst of Cosmos.*
*Zero found it amusing that Zelkies would retreat. They were smart enough to know their limits even with so much power behind them? They really were a proper general he could admire..But this was a war, and he'd do anything he could to win to defeat such an outstanding warrior. He'd open the gates of Babylon once again, thousands of swords poking out from the rift, and rain down a storm of steel over Zelkie's defensive line; He aimed to rip them to shreds and create an opening for the General's downfall. *

*Gousen watched on the fight with anticipation. Not an ounce of doubt left his body-- Anaz was a warrior unlike most. This was a man willing to kill any and all to further his art and skill. When that beam pierced the wolf, though..

Gousen's fist clenched at his side.

In that moment, he watched Anaz's strength begin to fade from him. The man's regeneration failed him. His blade couldn't find the finishing blow. It wasn't long before their bout was over. All his red eyes could do was look on at Anaz, the only man he deemed worthy to join his pack. Where that blade rose and pointed at him, Gousen's own fist rose in it's opposition while Anaz burned away.

There were no proper words for Gousen to say. All he could feel within him was an undying rage from within. This was the only time he'd felt such a pain and loss. It was a time he wouldn't let last without the one responsible dying at his fist. Both of the wolf-man's arms were thrust behind him and a terrifying howl emit from the area, one with anguish no different than the lords of ants they encountered.

Red energy and purple lightning sparked from him-- he rushed forth, his hands and fists charged with more destruction and killing intent than he'd ever managed to muster up before in his life.

"HHRRROOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!"*

After paying an immense toll of blood, forces of Oasis managed to slay the strongest of men, the human General Zelkies. The gathered forces retreat to the Northern Fort and the Scorpio and Aries Cloths returning to their own destinations.

Still, the blockade upon the region continues and with the losses suffered and the resources provided to the army, the further fate of the inhuman populace is uncertain.

*Zero was..surprised that actually worked. They'd lost a lot. Brandt's defeat was the one he loated the most, but everyone had their time, and it was what they signed up for. Everyone had lost that day. The death tool was in the dozens..But for their enemy? It was in the thousands. After all that, even being smart enough to retreat- Zelkies had fallen.

"We've won."

He said with a mixed tone, unsure what was appropriate here. He stepped closer, glancing over the fallen General to ensure they were down, he also paid close eye to Gousen to judge wher ethey'd take things from here.

"You've done it Gousen...My apologies for Anaz. We've all lost someone today..However.."

He'd turn to the crowd.

"We've won. Zelkies has fallen, and with it, our home is secured! Those that fell were not in vain..And with this conclusion..I feel this place can finally be at peace..for now,...Gather your fallen, Rest..Grieve...There may be one more battle to come...Wiping out the remainder of his army. But without their general? This war is won. You've all done well. Rest tonight knowing that. "*
*Gousen || It was far too much of a blur for most people to witness. There wasn't any restraint in this movement. Gousen's body burst from it's position in an instant, vanishing and reappearing mere inches away from Zelkies' body. Energy that he radiated was more deadly than anything, enough to seep out of his body and shroud the two in a black cloud. Within it, the only thing visible was the same insignia that Gousen held on his back.

"HHRRROOAAAAAAUUUGH!"

That roar broke even the sounds of war. His fist moved in an instant, immediately finding a place within Zelkies' chest. Each and all of that energy was pushed into the human's body, eroding away at his life force with just a touch. His body kept on moving though, shoving his knuckles forward and dragging them through his chest cavity and lungs. Another push and it would absolutely destroy the man's chin, exploding his chest.

It was Gousen's most devastating technique, this one powered by all of his rage and loss. Lightning from the very skies pierced from the skies, called down by the powers that Gousen manifest. It striked through the darkness that shrouded the two, revealing to all the fate of the man who slay one-too-many. Another explosion of power happened, this one from deep within Zelkies' core. A torrent of red and purple energy spiraled towards the air, piercing the very clouds above.

Yet below on the cursed soil, Gousen stood. His lycanthropy faded from him. His fists were held at his side. Only a sole man stood alone, his back turned to him all as the same insignia of the Satsui no Hado burned within his flesh.

"MESSATSU!"*

*Haseo battles on against the seemingly endless tides of soldiers, hacking them apart. At various points, he slips away from the battle to gather Senjutsu, amassing natural energy at his body and entering the very same state that his teacher had made infamous. Fighting alongside former enemies and lead by the kings he'd aimed to crush, Haseo was stirred to fight the battle of his life.

One by one, many of them fell. The fallen ranged from those he knew scarcely to those with whom he'd interacted on a near daily basis - too many to even detail the extent of his relationships, really.

This had been draining.

Everything had been draining.

The fall of Zelkies, when it happens, is like a pen dropping in a silent auditorium. It steals the breath from his throat and time itself is frozen stock still. Directly aside the corpse of the man that had tormented Haseo's livelihood and friends essentially his entire life, that very same man is avenged, in the same bloody, brutalizing technique that had taken Ocarin's life.

This was all such a rollercoaster, it was beyond his capacity to even say anything. His very presence almost felt, to him, like he was defiling something greater than himself. His eyes close, and he breathes out. Haseo's beam katana drops into his pocket, and he looks away. His lightsaber is shut off, those markings on his face fade, the adrenaline rushes, and it's like a curtain closing, the full span of his very life flashing before his very eyes, and he sees many faces, not just those that'd died today, but Rugar, Seishiro, Kai, Zen, and countless others as he realizes now..

Where there'd been Mint and Anaz to honor the Hiten Mitsurugi Ryu, there was now only him, and he'd done naught to leave a legacy that could possibly compare.

The guilt that ransacks him floods him to the core of his very being as he looks at Anaz, walks over to his body, and embeds a sword directly next to where he lay.

Mint's sword. The sword that they'd used in their ill-fated duel with Anaz, which Anaz had left behind, for Haseo to take, almost as if taunting him to take it up and duel him his self.

It did not belong with him...and perhaps it never had.

"...Regardless of it all..." he says quietly, in deepest reverance for the man he'd aimed to kill for many moons. "Never has there been one who could match your skill - and there may never be."

And then Haseo walks off, leaving Gousen, who'd known him better, and the others, to mourn, and to decide what to do with the fallen man. If the war still had more battles to be fought, Haseo would be there, but after that...he held no more reason to fight.

Finally, it was all over.*
