  1. Tomorrow, I'm going to talk to my dad and negotiate working with him again, or at the least negotiating a payment plan to him for a brand-new laptop that will do what I need it to do. Possibly both.
  2.
  3. So you hear this, and ask "Why, Ace? Didn't you say you despise painting, working for others, and destroying the freedom of your sleep cycle?"
  4.
  5. To this I answer, "I have had it SO BAD with my shitty equipment that the thought of working with my father for a while to ensure better streaming equipment sooner is more attractive than sitting here and being unhappy with my equipment every single day, providing a low-quality low-FPS stream that isn't even steady, and being unable to play games I've owned for MONTHS and can't even PLAY."
  6.
  7. "But Ace, what happens to your stream? Wouldn't this cut into your streaming time?"
  8.
  9. I respond, "Don't care anymore. One of the reasons I was avoiding working for my dad *was* because it would cut into streaming time, but when I have next to no regular viewers BECAUSE my stream quality and framerate are garbage, then it becomes necessary to do whatever it takes to provide better quality and framerate so that people will stick around."
  10.
  11. Look. I love you guys. I will *always* love you guys. But I need better a better setup to stream from, and it isn't happening anywhere close to fast enough, continuing as I've been. And I would much rather put in time with my father than literally sell out on Twitch and start streaming specific games because they get the viewers and the money - the thing is, although working for my father is a MAJOR annoyance to me and a disturbance to my life, selling out would be in direct opposition to what I stand for on Twitch, and that would be much less acceptable than biting the bullet and swiping a paintbrush around for a month or two.
  12.
  13. I just can't stand my awful laptops anymore. That's the bottom line. Short of selling out on Twitch, I'm willing to do damn near anything to get this necessary money in as big a hurry as I can possibly manage. I'm so desperate that I'm willing to disturb the very foundations of my typical existence by working with my father just to make things happen before I'm literally old and gray.
  14.
  15. So how long do I work for him, if that's what it (likely) comes to?
  16.
  17. However long it takes, and perhaps a little more for comfortability. You want numbers and amounts of time you can reference? He pays reasonably well, so even 15 days may be enough to cover a very solid laptop, depending on the length of the days. Might go an entire month though just to make sure I can get something that is WELL beyond "acceptable." If a month is adequate for it, I'll get not just the laptop, but also the PS2 and some games for it so that I can offer even more variety (the Dazzle I have will work with the PS2).
  18.
  19. This is the one thing in my life that most needs to change. The time for that change is now, whatever it takes.
  20.
  21. I'll let you know tomorrow what we've worked out, given I have another extraction appointment on the 15th, so I can't work that day or probably for a day or two after.
