- Analysts also said Coleco relied too heavily on Cabbage Patch. Under Hasbro, the dolls will join such proven heavy-hitters as the G.I. Joe and My Little Pony dolls.
- The Cabbage Patch craze wilted when Coleco Industries Inc., which formerly owned the rights to the dolls, moved away from the theme of love and caring and treated the dolls like any other toy, [Xavier Roberts], said this week.
- Coleco earned wealth and renown from the dolls in the mid-1980s. But as Cabbage Patch fever died down, toy analysts said Coleco became one more company to be sideswiped by the fads that periodically sweep through the industry.
