Celessa Background

Celessa Prester was born the Daughter of Ser Argett Prester and Celyria Farman. Years before her birth, her sister Arnessa was born. However, Illness took Arnessa, leaving Celessa as an only child. Being an only child affected her life for many years to come, as she was the sole proprietor of Ser Argett and Celyria’s legacy. Her parents would work especially hard to ensure their daughter’s success, leaving Celessa to feel at times that she was under the careful inspection of a magnifying glass.

While Celessa’s parents were often very watchful of her, she was quite sneaky, even very early on in life. With an adventurous spirit, she was always getting herself into things, sometimes coming too close to harm beyond a watchful eye. At three years of age she was attending a formal even with her family,  and managed to slip away for what seemed mere moments. But in those moments, she was doing what any small child does best – getting into mischief. She managed to tip an open brazier, scalding her hand and burning her arm. The injury was not too severe, but produced scars that would never fade, and leave Celessa feeling self-conscious at times as she grew older.

Celessa’s father, Ser Argett, was a famed Knight, often participating in Tourneys and accruing the riches that follow winning. The Prester family also owned ports on the Sunset Sea near Feastfires, as well as a few mines in the mineral rich Westerlands. This allotted Celessa with a fair allowance, as well as an eventual dowry once she were to wed. She lived quite well, maybe moreso than some noblewomen of the Westerlands.
